WOULD YOU CHANGE?
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is a human that You are mindful of us, the child of man and woman that You care for each one of us? “You made us ruler over the works of your hands; You put everything under our feet … O Lord, our Lord how majestic is Your name in all the earth.” Psalm 8:3-5, 9 (modern translation)

In the Bible, David writes Psalm 8 praising God for all creation, and the fact that God cares for us, gloriously.
When we step back and look at our lives, what do we see? If God were a man or woman, standing beside us, walking with us, how would we live? Would we kill? Would we maim? Would we harm any person, any animal, anything?
God’s chosen way to operate in our world is through us. We are God’s hands. Through our hands, we show service and love. Are our hands gentle? Are our hands loving?
We are God’s feet. Do we tread with great awareness? Do we walk through each day, noticing where we go? Do we listen to God’s presence when we need to make a choice in which way to turn?
We are God’s eyes. What shines from your eyes? Joy? Love? Understanding? Compassion? Laughter?
We are God’s voice. Is there kindness in our voice when we need to confront an issue with another person? Is there love and understanding in our voice when we say “no?” Do we say “yes,” gladly, when we feel God’s presence with us to accept a task or a chore that we normally would not want to do?
God expresses through us. How does God appear through you? Would you change what you say or how you say it? Would you change how you touch someone? Would you change the path on which your feet walk? Would you see the child of God within someone else, especially those you may have difficulty with?
Imagine that God is beside you, in human form, in spirit form – whatever form that has impact upon your life. God walks beside you, expressing through you, each moment of every day. How do you express God?
POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
Dear God,
As I begin my day, help me to be aware, moment by moment, that I express You in everything I do. I find Your peace within, guiding me towards all decisions, all words that need to be said, all actions that need to be taken on this day.
I remember, each moment, that You fill me with unconditional love and compassion and understanding. In remembering this, I touch with loving and gentle hands. I walk with awareness and with a sense of care for all that is around me. I speak with kind and gentle words. With Your help and guidance, I share laughter, I share joy, I share understanding.
At the end of this day, before I sleep, I will be able to look back on my words and actions and thoughts, and know that I expressed You in the best ways I knew how. I will sleep, restfully, knowing that tomorrow will be another day to express you in even better ways, as You lead me.
Thank you, God, for Your gentleness, Your joy, and Your patience with me.
In Jesus Christ’s name … .Amen.
