Make a Difference

̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶ o O o ̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph.”
2 Corinthians 2:14

I watched a show once that focused on real life heroes – people that make a difference. We are surrounded by people like this. Most do not get on national TV, but ALL make a difference.

I saw a hero just last week when I watched A Big Brother pick up a young boy to take him to the zoo. I have witnessed heroes that have become foster parents. I even saw a hero adopt a dog from the animal shelter on the last day before the dog would be put down.

Lindberg and Earhardt flew their airplanes, against all odds. Shackleton climbed Mount Everest. Astronauts go into space riding on top of a rocket and come back in the middle of a fireball. These are heroes we can all relate to. All showed us what is possible for humans to obtain.

Television, now, has reality shows that test humans normal boundaries. Humans are shown, weekly, going into daring situations that they would normally fear.

But I say, that everyday life, also, has heroes. Normal people, in everyday situations, are doing courageous and daring feats, although they are often overlooked by history.

The young mother who, against all odds, faces life alone with her children and succeeds.

A man goes to college at night after working a full-time job, to make a better life for himself and his family.

A young person leaves behind known friends that are going down the wrong path, to seek new acquaintances that are drug and alcohol free at N.A. and A.A.

The person who places God first instead of cowering under problems and worries, and stands up walking forward into an unknown, but Divinely assured future.

The person that has been laid off, or let go, and gets up immediately and starts looking for another job. He or she is moving on the energy of God’s hope and help.

A person, divorced against their will, and yet doesn’t give up on themselves, or on love.

People who do not just pass by strangers, but truly care.

These are just some of the heroes of ordinary life, for there are many, too numerous to mention.

How about you? Can you rise to the occasion?

With God’s help you can!

God needs you to make a difference.

Relax, and put aside any concern you may have, regarding your life and the circumstances you face. You let go and you let God fill your mind and heart. In God’s presence, you find peace and courage. God infills you with hero-like power. You discover, through God, you are released from anxious thoughts and feelings.

As you try again, God empowers you, and there comes a realization that God’s power is in charge. In yielding your fears and anxieties to God, you see as well, a sense of Divine rightness coming forth in all that concerns you. You rely on God and trust in God’s good. You know that the hand of love guides you, helping you to know what to do, and when to promote the outworking of good.

Your total trust in God replaces any feeling of insecurity, concern, or fear. Having placed all things in God’s care, you are assured of complete and lasting fulfillment.

It is encouraging to hear about the victories of women and men, in many areas of human endeavor. It lets us learn of heroism, of courage, of selfless acts of strength and endurance. You may wish that you, too, could show such strength and fortitude.

Each time you win out against a negative or depressing thought, each time you are able to overcome even one little weakness, one empty fear, one fleeting feeling of anger or resentment, you are a hero.

You are a genuine winner every time you refuse to react to persons or situation with criticism or worry.

You are triumphant over doubt and fear; you rise above limiting conditions, as you rely on God. You have Divine guidance and direction for life. In God, you have an eternal resource of strength and courage.

Through God, you are always victorious.
