A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, “What does love mean?” The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

“Love is that first feeling you feel before all the bad stuff gets in the way.”

“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.”

“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.”

“Love is when someone hurts you. And you get so mad, but you don’t yell at them because you know it would hurt their feelings.”

“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.”

“Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.”

“Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss.”

“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.”

“When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you’re scared they won’t love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only do they still love you, they love you even more.”

“Love cards like Valentine’s cards say stuff on them that we’d like to say ourselves, but we wouldn’t be caught dead saying.”

“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.”

“Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.”

“You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

God created me and I am exactly what I was meant to be.
There is a beautiful spirit within me that holds and protects me all through the day and night.
Nothing and no one can diminish this perfect Spirit with me.
There are no words nor actions from outside of me that can change this beautiful beam of light which I am.
I came to life to be just who and what I am and I have a wonderful job to do.
All that I need in order to do what I came here to do is provided for me by God.
God’s infinite supply is mine now.
I am surrounded by unseen angels who love me and watch over me.
I am a unique person in the Universe and no one can take my place or fill the role I came here to play.
My heart is filled with love overflowing for myself and for those closest to me.
I am a special person and I recognize my brilliance.
I came to love the world and I have my own way of making that love manifest.
I am willing to rise above all circumstances in order to accept my part in healing the world by living with integrity, love, honor, compassion and goodness.
Today I will not judge myself nor anyone I meet.
Today I will treat myself as a precious human treasure.
Today I will know that I matter.
Today I will tell someone else that they matter too.
Oh Lord, thank You for making me just the way I am.
I will not criticize Your work today by judging myself.
Instead, I humbly ask that You make any changes in me that You see fit and I will love, honor and adore whatever remains.
From this day on I will not harm myself in any way.
I will treat myself as a vessel of the living spirit of Love.
I will not be tempted by anyone or anything to abuse or dishonor myself.
I surrender my relationship with my parents and my family to You.
May we grow in love, communication and understanding.
May all our needs be provided for this very day.
Lord, help me to live in love today.
Protect me and those I love.
Please bless my family.
Shine Your light on us now.
Pour Your blessings on us.
I give my life to You.
Thank You God that this is so.
