ONE: Don’t miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.

FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a Roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the King’s’ wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it … Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of Vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Giving When it Counts …

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, “Yes I’ll do it if it will save her.” As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, “Will I start to die right away”. Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Positive Daily Prayer:

Dear God, I know that no storm can stand up to Your power. I have a great desire for You in my life. I seek You first. Every action of my life conveys that. I make my life a light of belief.
I know that You can heal because You are the great Creator and Regenerator. I know You can lift me up if I am ever low, or down or even depressed. I know that no former human condition has any power over me this moment.
I do give thanks because You are with me. How joyous I am that this is my day of discovery.

In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen.

“Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your God in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

Have you ever felt like you were in total darkness having no idea of which way to turn? When you are in total darkness, there may be nothing as soothing or as reassuring to you as a glimpse of light. This is sometimes referred to as the light at the end of the tunnel.

Positive Christianity knows that every dark, nighttime experience holds the promise of the dawn of a new day. As little Annie sings, in the Broadway musical, the sun WILL come up tomorrow!

Through His teachings and way of life, Jesus became a beacon of light for all humanity, a shining light through which you can gain clearer vision. As you live by the Christ ideal, you will become a radiating beacon of light and love for others.

Say this prayer, today: “I let my light shine now.” Through your loving thoughts and kind actions, you show the world that Jesus’ message is alive in you. At the speed of light, your actions and love-filled words take flight and wing their way to every open mind and heart.

As you let your light shine, you light up your own personal world as well as those around you that may be in a temporary darkness.

There are millions of people around the world that have made the decision to rise above mediocrity, and become lights of God, radiating God’s love to the dark areas of people’s lives.

It is important that we let go of who we have been, to stretch ourselves further to what we are now becoming.

Who am I? What makes me who I am? Is it your surroundings, your work, or the people you associate with? Are you only a reflection of how you were raised?

If you are searching for your own identity, you will find that it is not who you have been, but who you strive to be that is important in life and in spirituality.

As you allow the wonder of God to work through you, you will find your true self looking back at you in the mirror. When you face the present and the future with a commitment to be a light to your world, you face a very bright future with a firm grasp of where you are going and who you are. You can thank God for the new person that you are now becoming. You can thank God for the love and support that will provide you with all you need to let go of the darkness of the old-self, and start over with a new and improved you that is filled with God’s light.

You love God’s light that streams brightly into your world and guides you to do and be what you should do and be. You love God’s light that is the life of your body, the life that is not measured out to you in days, months, or years, but in eternity. You love God’s peace that enfolds and sustains you, making you relaxed and at peace. You love God’s light that supplies you with all your needs, supports you, and allows you to be a part of God’s law of giving and receiving.

In the light of God, you cannot fear darkness. In the light of God you are fearless and unafraid; you are tranquil; you are free.

Say this prayer, today: “I let my light shine now.”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray You will help me to let my light shine. I do not put this off until tomorrow. Help me to make a difference this day. Help me to brighten the way of another.

You are a child of God, and as a child of God, you have importance within the Divine family, and God’s work for you to do, to make this world a better place.

There may be times in your life when you feel unneeded. You may wish that you could give more to life; you want to feel needed and important. As God’s creation, you are important and you are needed to fill your own particular niche in life.

All of us may not be artists or writers, philosophers or ministers, but all of us can live creatively and make an important contribution to life. God needs many people in many positions of life, and different walks of life, to make this world revolve in a more positive way.

Wherever you are, you can pray for others – for loved ones, for strangers, for the whole world – that the Divine perfection intended for all may be brought forth. You can bless others who are momentarily at odds with the world. You can fulfill your purpose as a child of God, by expressing the light of God’s love which is within us all.

You follow Jesus by accepting the truth that you are important to God and needed to express God’s love. You let the radiance of God Spirit shine through you.

You allow God to touch you, today, and give you a new sense of self. You pray that you feel valued within yourself. Other people treat you the way you treat yourself with your invisible thoughts.

You decide, today, to ask for God’s blessing in a new way.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I need to know that I am important to You. I need to know that I am needed in Your Divine plan. I need to know, through Divine realization, that there are no mistakes and that I do have the Divine purpose and was created by You for this purpose.

Help me to realize, today, God, that I do make a difference. Help me to feel that I am wanted and needed, everywhere. When I walk into a room, may I say to myself, “I am wanted here.”

May I have the empowerment given to me by You, dear God, to give away the same to others. May I make all other people feel wanted and needed first. May I have the Divine realization that this is a primary human need, and may one of my purposes in life be to fulfill this need in others.

As I spend my life getting outside of myself, and selfish desires, I will find myself reflected back in the loving look of the eyes of strangers and friends. I will know, without doubt, that I am needed and important.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

Positive Daily Inspiration - October 5, 2022 - DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL

“Those that follow me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12

Everyone, sometime in their lives, has a short experience that is called “the dark night of the soul,” where, due to problems, sometimes beyond our control, things look dark and bleak.

But when we go to God, the darkness is turned into light, and we have the light of life which is illumination, hope, positive expectancy, and positive movement.

Even the darkest night, the longest night, gives way to the light of morning. So it is in our search for light and understanding. It may seem that we are going through a night of darkness, but surely and certainly, the light of God dawns for us and a new day of possibilities is born. Just as the first faint rays of the sun light up the horizon, so the first faint rays of God’s light shed light in us. Almost imperceptibly, little by little, darkness of thought and feeling is lifted. We do not have to fight the darkness. It disappears in the light of God’s Truth.

The beauty and the glory of the dawn of the new day cannot compare with the beauty and glory that is within us, with the dawn of God’s truth, in the perception of our minds. We bask in the golden radiance of the light of God Spirit. We no longer walk in darkness but we have the light of life.

In the dawning of the light of God’s Truth, we see all things, clearly and are no longer blind to the opportunities that God brings our way. With God, all things are possible. In Matthew 19:26, our Bible states firmly, “With humans this is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible.”

When we break down that Bible verse into parts, we better understand its meaning, and we discover a number of important things.

First, it declares, “With God.” We begin, therefore, by placing our faith in God who is life, light, love, power, peace, beauty, and goodness.

Second: From that foundation, we go to the rest of the powerful statement, “ALL things are possible.” There are no qualifications, no ifs, ands, or buts. Our deep and abiding faith in God allows the activity of God’s presence to do all things in and through us.

If there is something you have considered impossible because of the darkness in which you may be surrounded, contemplate this promise, “With God ALL things are possible.” Let this mind-expanding thought that is found in our Bible raise you to a new level of unbounded faith in God and in God’s abundant provision for your every need.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

We gather together
to ask the Lord’s blessing.
God hastens
God’s will to be known
we now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to God’s name.

Beside us to guide us
our God with us joining,
ordaining, maintaining
God’s kingdom Divine;

In Romans 8:28 it says, “In everything God works for good for those who love God.” A mighty assurance is contained in these words.

You love God and I love God. We rely upon God’s power to adjust and regulate all things. We realize that Divine adjustment by God is mighty to bring about complete change in all the circumstances of our lives, and to establish perfect order.

Right now, we begin to set our world in order by reforming our thoughts. Let us invoke the Divine wisdom of God to guide our thinking and let us lay hold of and make manifest the great thoughts of God; the ideas that point the way by which we are to establish God’s kingdom.

In this moment, I invite you to discover God within the peace of the silence of prayer.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

God is with us right now. God’s thoughts are accessible to us. God is your guide; your helper in EVERY task you are given to do. God helps you to bring order out of every seemingly perplexing situation that confronts you. When you look to God, your mind is quickened to see the way to take. Your faith is quickened to see how things are working together for good.

New and confusing conditions may loom before you, but you are now undisturbed by them. God gives you the assurance that all is well. You need only to be receptive to God’s wise counsel, obey it unquestioningly and let Divine order work through you. If you are confused as to what you should do, you need not contend with yourself or others.

Declare silently in prayer, that God’s wisdom is your guide and God’s law of harmony is the ruling principle of your life.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Steadfast and strong, unaffected by outer appearances of disharmony, you shall be equal to every emergency when you know that God is all-powerful and that God is the directive power within God’s Creation. You allow the hope of God to become your hope. You allow the peace of God to become your peace. You allow the love of God to become your love. You allow the joy of God to become your joy.

And you bring that into manifestation now in this time of prayer.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

God is the creator of all things. And all things love their Creator. They seek to work together for good to all who love God. We place our trust totally in God. We depend on God for help in every situation. No matter what our needs might be, God is with us, and is able to meet them fully, wisely and lovingly. God is our light. God is our strength. God is our perfect help. In trusting God, we have at our call the greatest power that is available; a power that is instant, constant and unfailing.

We are confident because we know we are not alone. God is with us. We are capable because we know that we do not rely on ourselves alone but we rely upon God working with us. We are successful because God is always successful. We work with God and God flows through our minds and our bodies. Every movement is directed by the Divine.

We have a knowing, in prayer, that God is working through us. And God working through us is equal to every demand.

No emergency of life can be greater than the power of God in us to cope with it.

THROUGH THE PRESENCE AND THE POWER OF GOD, DIVINE ORDER IS NOW ESTABLISHED IN YOU. PEACE AND STABILITY ARE MANIFEST IN YOUR WORLD.

Today, you are blessed as you use your God-given imagination in creative and positive ways.

Your imagination is a wonderful tool that enables you to be creative. You are blessed, for positive imagery stimulates your mind and relaxes your body.

To relax, you close your eyes and use your imagination to envision yourself viewing a sparkling, blue ocean, a lush, abundant forest, or a glorious sunrise or sunset.

When you are not able to be physically in the company of loved ones, you can see and hear them in the dominion of your thoughts and memories. Your imagination puts you in their company and allows you to recall the qualities in them that you love. You know that you can always be with someone you love, in thought and prayer.

Your imagination allows you to be creative, to move mountains of fear and doubt, and to conquer feelings of lack. You thank God, this day, for your positive, creative imagination that is always increasing in its positive power and influence in your life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray that the still, small voice of Truth and Love speaks to me, no matter where I am. I pray that my longing, human mind and heart is filled with positive, creative insights, as well as the desire to help and heal humankind. I pray that I hear your voice and that my mind contains your ideas. I, freely and willingly, give my life to manifesting the genius of Your creativity. May I know that You are with me and helping me. Help me, dear God, to not be afraid. May I know that You govern every aspect of my life.

May the creativity You give me manifest in my imagination. I pray that my imagination and the creativity that it inspires is instant, and constant. I pray for spontaneous and immediate ideas that fill my mind with productive, positive thought for the good of all.

I pray that I have an inner conviction of my God-given imagination. I pray that my imagination is filled with the power of God, filled with all loving, all inventive might and majesty of God. When I speak about my imagination, I speak with assurance, confidence, and faith.

The ideas within my imagination are quick, powerful, and immediately effective. There are no boundaries to what I can conceive and believe within my God-given, strengthened human mind. My inventive imagination returns to me, laden with the fruits of God’s good, and I am grateful.

I turned 71 years of age this morning – what an incredibly great life this is.

In kindergarten your idea of a good friend was the person who let you have the red crayon when all that was left was the ugly black one.

In first grade your idea of a good friend was the person who went to the bathroom with you and held your hand as you walked through the scary halls.

In second grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you stand up to the class bully.

In fourth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who was willing to switch square dancing partners in gym so you wouldn’t have to be stuck do-si-do-ing with Nasty Nick or Smelly Susan.

In fifth grade your idea of a friend was the person who saved a seat on the back of the bus for you.

In sixth grade your idea of a friend was the person who went up to Nick or Susan, your new crush, and asked them to dance with you, so that if they said no you wouldn’t have to be embarrassed.

In seventh grade your idea of a friend was the person who let you copy the social studies homework from the night before that you had.

In eighth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you pack up your stuffed animals and old baseball but didn’t laugh at you when you finished and broke out into tears.

In ninth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who would go to a party thrown by a senior so you wouldn’t wind up being the only freshman there.

In tenth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who changed their schedule so you would have someone to sit with at lunch.

In eleventh grade your idea of a good friend was the person who gave you rides in their new car, convinced your parents that you shouldn’t be grounded, consoled you when you broke up with Nick or Susan, and found you a date to the prom.

In twelfth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you pick out a college/university, assured you that you would get into that college/university, helped you deal with your parents who were having a hard time adjusting to the idea of letting you go …

At graduation your idea of a good friend was the person who was crying on the inside but managed the biggest smile one could give as they congratulated you.

The summer after twelfth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you sneak out of the house when you just couldn’t deal with your parents, assured you that now that you and Nick or you and Susan were back together, you could make it through anything, helped you pack up for university and just silently hugged you as you looked through blurry eyes at 18 years of memories you were leaving behind, and finally on those last days of childhood, went out of their way to give you reassurance that you would make it in college as well as you had these past 18 years, and most importantly sent you off to college knowing you were loved.

Now, your idea of a good friend is still the person who gives you the better of the two choices, holds your hand when you’re scared, helps you fight off those who try to take advantage of you, thinks of you at times when you are not there, reminds you of what you have forgotten, helps you put the past behind you but understands when you need to hold on to it a little longer, stays with you so that you have confidence, goes out of their way to make time for you, helps you clear up your mistakes, helps you deal with pressure from others, smiles for you when they are sad, helps you become a better person, and most importantly loves you!

The Other Voice

The Voice for God speaks with a gentle
while powerful voice.
The ego speaks in an emotional panic.

The Voice for God uses much repetition.
The ego promotes impulsiveness.

The Voice for God never demands it suggests.
The ego presents obsessive urges.

The Voice for God is co-operative and never
suggests anything which may wound another.
The ego is competitive and influences ‘me or them’
actions.

The Voice for God feels like a friendly mentor.
The ego feels like a dictator.

The Voice for God always lifts and inspires peace,
love and joy.
The ego stirs the emotions and thrives on chaos.

“Choose this day whom you will serve … as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15

When you choose to serve God, you choose to serve love because God is love. There are always two choices in every situation, in every circumstance, in every relationship. We can affirm the negative or we can affirm the positive. Our choice determines the tenor of life itself.

The word “deny” means “to declare untrue.” With God’s help, we choose to deny the power of any negative thought or influence. We declare untrue any thought or feeling inside of us that is not up to the standard of God’s love. We align ourselves with the goodness of God and God’s creation.

To affirm is to declare something to be true. We positively affirm that God is in charge, and all is well. We affirm that, with God, all things are working together for the good of all. We affirm that God’s love and happiness are God’s will for all of God’s children.

Looking at others, or looking at ourselves, we consciously choose to deny the negative and to affirm the positive. We choose, this day, to be on the side of God, on the side of good, on the side of love.

We choose to do this in all three time zones: past, present, and future.

The forgiving love of Jesus Christ sets you free. You are forgiven, and you feel loved. Following God, you give the same to others.

Some people have been known to carry a burden of anger, or even self-guilt, for years, over something that we did to another that we now know was not right. The forgiving love of God accepts and loves you, and you choose to accept and love others. The love of God lifts the burdens and sets us free to be all that we were meant to be. We no longer sit in judgment of ourselves, or of others; we accept God’s love and forgiveness.

We can forgive ourselves; we can forgive others; we can be free to love again, as we open our hearts to the forgiving love of God. We can even break down barriers that have stood between us and another for decades. We make a choice to live a full, productive life through living, and acting from the love of God.

Today is a new day, a day to let love through.

In Ephesians 4: 31, 32 our Bible states, “Let all bitterness … be put away from you … forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Truly the love of God sets us free this day! We choose to accept and use it!

It is not spiritual to think of “them,” and you. You no longer look for differences between yourself and others – you look for likenesses.

Use the 101% percent principal. Find the one percent that you agree on, and give it 100 percent of your effort. Seek points of shared interest and concern. You magnify that which helps you appreciate the other person.

If you have felt some division within yourself, you now let God put you back together again. If you are feeling like Humpty Dumpty who fell off the wall, remember the truth of that nursery rhyme – all the king’s horses and all the king’s men could not put Humpty together again!

I have always wondered why someone did not ask the King.

God can put you together again, inside of yourself, and inside of your world. God can help connect you, again, with people that have severed contacts with you.

When you are together inside of yourself, this prompts a feeling of openness towards, and acceptance of, all people everywhere. You know that the circle of your influence is far-reaching, and all-encompassing when you are positively working with God.

You are part of and one with the worldwide family of God through this ministry. As Positive Christianity readers, the world over, are united today in a feeling of oneness, our hearts, minds, and hands will reach out to others. We are all blessed as we discover there are no distinctions, we are ALL equal children, under one God.

I have often said that God is an equal opportunity employer!

One of the greatest things that you can do for another is to pray for them. When you are praying for others, you need to watch your own thoughts and feelings to be sure that you are not attempting to outline what others need. So often what appears to us to be the answers to their problems would not be right at all for the other person and their own unique soul growth. If you find yourself doing this, then you know that you need to lift the level of your prayer. You will if you lift your thoughts about others from appearances that seem to need changing, to the perfection of God that is with them, and that simply needs to be recognized.

You make your prayers for others the highest affirmations of God’s truth. As you think of others, you let your thoughts about them be loving – powerfully loving. You let your prayer be: “I send my love to you through prayer. I bless you. I behold God working in your life. I have faith in God working in your life now. I see goodness and greatness in you. I trust, absolutely trust, God to guide you, to shine through you, and to reveal your perfect way to you.”

If you feel that others are controlling your personal details of your life – if the details of your life seemed to be imposed upon you by others or by circumstances, you need to remember that with God’s help you can choose your own good that you personally need to fulfill your own life. With God’s help, you make choices each day that determine the content and the outcome of that day. The small choices you make, when taken together, form the tapestry of your life.

Daily, with God’s help, you weave the pattern of a more perfect life. If you ever find that the choice is not easy to make, you acknowledge that God is within your thoughts and feelings as well as in the situations that you encounter. You are surrounded and filled with God’s love, presence and power. You do not look outside of yourself for approval, but instead, go directly to God for the strength underlying every choice you make.

You live in harmony with all others. You choose to react, calmly and creatively, to the challenges that confront you. Each step you take in the direction you want your life to go adds another harmonizing level to the tapestry of your life. You never seek another’s good–you seek your own, and your own good is given to you, just as it is given to all others that seek God first.
