Positive Daily Inspiration - November 3, 2022 - MENTAL HOUSE CLEANING

Jesus said in Matthew 23:26, ” … First make clean the inside of the cup and of the plate, so that the outside may become equally clean.”

I am sitting on the front porch of my home writing this and watching the trash truck drive by. At the least, I always wave and smile, and if I’m closer I thank these men and women personally. One of the most valuable things in our world is trash collection. It enables us to get rid of the debris that otherwise would overtake our lives. Can you imagine what our lives would be like without a way to dispose of that which is no longer useful, or needed?

I have been in countries where there is little trash collection and it soon overtakes the people. I was even in New York City one time, when they were having a trash strike, and the same quickly happened.

But what about the inside of ourselves?

I believe that the human mind should also have a trash pickup day – a time to review and to delete that which is no longer needed to be remembered on a daily basis.

I suggest we make a list of what is in our minds when we think of them. I suggest we also list our habits, and even yesterday’s wants. If it does not serve us well, today, let us go to God, and with God’s help, delete the old thoughts, ideas, and outdated dreams and take them out with the trash.

Place these on a piece of paper and make a decision to delete them from your life. This habit, this idea, this worry is no longer needed by you – and you trash it.

Placing these on the piece of paper and identifying them becomes a powerful proactive action, in which you take control of the old, with the new spiritual power given to you by God. You are giving up and letting go and letting God takeover. There is a powerful, spiritual, cleansing activity in and through you, as this takes place. You make the decision to remove it, permanently, from your life.

I have seen some people, after making their list, decide to burn it. Burning a list has no power of itself, other than it is showing to your own human mind that you and God are taking control and it is eliminated.

Your mind sometimes has to be shown, with the eyes, proof that you are taking control, and not the other way around. Many people live, thinking that they have no power over their own minds — this simply is not true.

Remember, it is not enough to just write your list, you must take out the trash, too, and allow it to be permanently removed. You must give it God.

With God’s help, the unwanted, the outdated is eliminated from your daily life.

Say aloud, as you do this, “This is no longer needed, wanted, or acceptable in my life and with God’s help, I turn it into trash – it is eliminated, permanently, from my daily experience. Following Jesus Christ, I now walk on, away from the experience because this is, right now, eliminated, permanently, from my life!”

I believe that we should do a mental housecleaning often. We clean our houses, we clean our businesses, we clean our environment and yet, many never clean the inside of themselves. To live a spiritual life, we must clean the inside of our minds otherwise, daily, in our thinking, we have to walk through the debris of a lifetime.

The spiritual person must empty him or herself in order to be full.

Every time we shower and groom in the morning, we are removing a thin layer of dust and debris. When we go through the cleansing activity of prayer to God, we can remove mountains of old, outdated debris that has created a mental compost that we are not even aware of, and yet affects every single moment of every day in our lives.

It helps, too, when an old thought comes up, to think in the moment, “I need to trash that!” When you do that, you are taking the reins of your life.

Sometimes, we can be surprised by the old thoughts at creep up. You can bury items at a trash dump and they stay buried, but old thoughts are like live worms that reappear by wiggling their way to the surface. You can’t bury a worm because it will always come to the surface again. To get rid of the worm you have to take it out with the trash immediately upon finding the worm.

Like the worm, old thoughts are alive in us, and they live the in the thoughts about what they were created to think about. Did you ever think that you were not good enough? If you did, that thought is still in there, somewhere, unless you have trashed it. Only when we get rid of the old thoughts that we no longer need and want, can we think the thoughts and believe the prayers that we choose to want.

Jesus Christ once said, let all your words and thoughts be either YEA YEA, or NAY NAY. This means that as you do an inventory of yourself, you either say yes, or no, to thoughts and actions.

This is spiritual addition or subtraction the can be the tool to a cleansed life.

So, as you make your list, and put it in the trash, sit on the front porch and watch the trash truck taking away your old thoughts and opinions. Don’t forget to smile and wave, as they take the old, useless, unnecessary away.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

My God and my strength, I pray that I may possess that expectancy which comes in joyous hope and have the endurance that is controlled by courage and energy. Grant in the future that I may be less concerned about my living and more focused for what I make of my life.

Positive Daily Inspiration - November 2, 2022 - FINDING HOPE

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner shrine behind the curtain.” Hebrews 6:19 God is a God of second chances, and we believe in second chances.

This Positive Daily Inspiration has been blessed in prayer to fill you with new hope.

In Hebrews the Bible promises, “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.”

We are all anchored to something, many people are anchored to fear and worry, and even on glorious days they are only lifted above that for a few hours, then the old anchor pulls them down again. But that anchor is in the human mind, not in the soul, the soul knows better, for it is spiritual in origin, a child of God. There is a natural hope that sees beyond appearances in the soul.

“A hope that enters into the inner shrine behind the curtain.”

When we hope, we enter the realm of true worship of God, we go to the inner shrine of the soul where we connect with God, behind the curtains of everyday life. There we find that what we believe in, totally, manifests on the other side of the curtain – our outer life.

The anchor in any soul that dispels fear and doubt is an awareness of the presence of God. Knowing that the presence and power of God is within you at all times instills you with hope. Because you have hope, you are motivated to prepare the way for God’s good things to happen in your life.

Hope may be a gentle nudge that guides you in the direction that you need to take. Whether the situation is one in which there is a need for healing, harmony in a troubled relationship, guidance, or increased abundance – hope lifts you above the outer appearance of things, to the inner realization that, “with God, all things are possible.”

Nothing can extinguish the presence and power of God that glows with and within each of us. Through positive prayer and meditation, we support God’s plan of good in our life and get to watch it manifest with our eyes. There is a great longing in the heart of all humanity to know and feel the presence of God. A lack of hope dwells only in a mind that does not dwell enough on God’s help. In truth, you can never be separated from God, but still there is a feeling that connection must be made; there is a longing for a reunion. Often, people go to great efforts to fill this longing in outer ways.

The answer lies in returning our thoughts to God in prayer.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray that I have a steadfast anchor in my soul that will not allow me to stray too far.
I pray that I will never drift over into the waters of uncertainty and doubt.
May I know with a positive knowing that You are always with me.
May I have a hope in me that springs eternal.
Dear God, Your hope fills my mind and heart.
I respond to that hope now.
My life sings with joy, and I feel the warmth of Your presence clothing me softly, tenderly.
You know my hopes, my dreams, and my needs.
I turn them over to You.
I sit in prayer so that I may silently and spiritually be filled to the brim again with Your hope.
Each day as I pray, I am more aware of my oneness with You.
I follow Jesus Christ by having a hopeful expectation in me.
What a great feeling this is!

Prayer is the language of Spirit. It does not know time or space.

As you pray, you pray for more than just yourself. You pray for those who are looking to us for prayer. We become active in the ways of prayer that go out from where we are and cover people with an umbrella of God’s help.

The spirit of God expresses itself through you. In this prayer time, you are able to relax. You are able to release any thought or feeling that interferes with your awareness of the spirit of God.

As you do, remember what it says within the Holy Bible: “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you.” The spirit of God fills your hearts and minds, making you a vessel–a wonderful, unique vessel fulfilling a sacred purpose. As a vessel, you open yourself to the inpouring and outpouring of the spirit of God.

You are open to wisdom, to life, and to abundance in this silent time of prayer …

There is a peace that is with you. It is the peace of God. It is a pure, unconditional peace that cleanses away fear and unforgiveness.

We are serene … still … as you hear the world

“Peace … peace … peace … Peace, be still.”

Rest in the silence of prayer, in the peace of God …

The Spirit of God establishes peace within you and in all areas of your life.

You think now about wisdom and guidance. You allow wisdom to fill your mind. God is wisdom. In daily choices or in major life decisions, Divine ideas come forth from the Spirit of God. These ideas, the quiet hand of God playing the instruments of our minds and hearts, guide us in the path of right thinking. We accept these wonderful ideas and give them full expression in our thoughts, words, and actions. No matter what the need, God’s almighty wisdom has the answer for us. We attune ourselves to the wisdom of God and are guided in perfect ways. You pray now for wisdom and understanding for yourself and for others.

In the silence of prayer …

The Spirit of God fills you with wisdom and understanding. You make right choices.

Having affirmed guidance for ourselves and others, we now gently shift our attention to healing. We know that life abides within our body temples, for God is life.

In the Holy Bible it states: “Do you now know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

This mighty healing power fills every atom, every cell, every organ and tissue, and directs every function and activity. It knows exactly what to do and how to do it. This mighty healing power is at work right now. You are strengthened, nourished, and sustained by the Spirit of God. You are restored to wholeness and health according to the Divine plan.

Know this now, in the silence of prayer …

This Truth of God permeates every cell of your body. It is the absolute Truth of you. The Spirit of God is mighty within you and fortifies your body temple.

Now we gently move our thoughts to ideas of prosperity. Abundance fills our lives. God is supply. The spirit of God within us is the source of abundance. As we pray, we give thanks for every expression of God’s loving, providing spirit–for friends and family, for flowers and birds, for sunshine and rain, for the busyness of each day and the quiet of each night.

We pray now for a greater awareness of the bountiful goodness of God for ourselves and for others as we take this Truth into our hearts: The Spirit of God urges me to succeed. All that I need is provided.

In prayer, we are open to the Mind of God. We are open to the fulfillment of every need–peace, joy, health, prosperity, guidance, freedom. We accept all that is ours through the precious spirit of God within us. With hearts overflowing, we say, “Thank You, God!” From this place and this time of stillness, we have a new power to go forth, knowing that we are bountifully cared for because the spirit of God abides within us.

The light of God surrounds you;
The love of God enfolds you;
The power of God protects you;
The presence of God watches over you.
Wherever you are, God is!

Does there seem to be something missing from your life? Is there something missing that no material possession or personal achievement can bring you? This something could very well be your participation in close and empowering communion with God.

If you do not already do so, begin to talk with God in the way you feel most comfortable. Talk to God as you would a close friend.

Put away all thoughts about what you should say and in the silence of your own being, in prayer, begin to talk to God as though you are sharing with your most dear and trusted friend.

Perhaps you desire to reestablish the habit of talking to God so that you can feel at one with God. You may choose to begin by giving thanks – for something refreshing to your soul – or for a healing. Know without doubt that a sincere talk with God will bring new understanding to your life.

In the quiet of prayer, you relax. You let go of any need to force people or events to conform to your personal human will. Instead, you choose to let the power of God move in and through you, to bring about the perfect outworking of each situation.

You know that it is not by personal might or power that anything is lastingly established; the Spirit of God that dwells with you does the work. Relaxed in mind and body, you stay focused on this realization.

Your prayer times fill you with joy and rejuvenate you. When you relax in prayer, there is never force or strain; rather, there is happiness and fulfillment that is truly spiritual. This happiness and fulfillment is much stronger than temporary human happiness. These positive qualities are reflected in all your human actions.

You are at peace with God and with yourself. A perfect work is done through the Spirit of God and you soon find everything that, as if a moment ago, was missing.

You are fulfilled as you faithfully work on your spiritual development. You do your best to put into practice God’s ways in your own life. And then, silently and continually, you will be moving and progressing toward a spiritually enriched life.

Seeming barriers that seem to be stopping you from moving forward are dissipated and removed. With God’s power, you will no longer allow anything to limit you and your future.

It is not necessary to know exactly what is holding you back. You have to be willing to pray and to accept a new way of life from God. Prayer cleanses you, completely. Prayer opens you up to the purifying spiritual presence that will restore what is lost in your life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Nothing is lost in Spirit, anything seemingly lost can be found in God. I turn to You, dear God, to find what seems to be lacking in my life. Complete me, make me whole.

Years ago, Ann Landers had readers submit funny stories about their children reciting prayers, and saying the Pledge Of Allegiance.

From New York:
When my twin daughters were young, I taught them to say this prayer before going to bed. As I listened outside their door, I could hear them say, “Give us this steak and daily bread, and forgive us our mattresses.” My husband and I always had a good laugh over this. That was over 50 years ago, and the memory still remains in my heart.

From San Francisco:
When I was a child, I learned this prayer as “Our Father, who are in Heaven, Howard be thy name.” I always thought that was God’s real name.

Groton, Mass.:
My mother spent her early childhood saying, “Hail Mary, full of grapes.”

Missoula, Mont.:
My son, who is in nursery school, said, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, how didja know my name?”

Uniontown, Ohio:
I remember thinking this prayer was “Give us this day our jelly bread.”

Covina, Calif.:
I recall reading something years ago about the Pledge of Allegiance. Some child thought it began, “I led the pigeons to the flag.”

Cleveland, Ohio:
“When I was little, I often wondered who Richard Stands was. You know: “I pledge allegiance to the flag … and to the republic for Richard Stands.”

Schenectady, N.Y.:
I once knew a child whose favorite Sunday school song was “Gladly, the Cross-Eyed Bear.”

Tampa, Fla.:
When my husband was 6 years old, he thought a certain prayer was “He suffered under a bunch of violets.” The real words were “under Pontius Pilate,” but at that age, he didn’t know better. To this day, we still snicker in church whenever that prayer is read.

Lake Forest Park, Wash.:
When I was a little girl, we sang a song in Sunday school about Noah. Part of the chorus was “And the rains came down, and the floods came up.” We lived next door to a couple of charming little girls who always sang this song while playing in their garden. Their words were, “And the rains came down, and the spuds came up.”

Oak Harbor, Wash.:
When my older brother was very young, he always walked up to the church altar with my mother when she took communion. On one occasion, he tugged at her arm and asked, “What does the priest say when he gives you the bread?” Mom whispered something in his ear. Imagine his shock many years later when he learned that the priest doesn’t say, “Be quiet until you get to your seat.”

Grand Junction, Colo.:
When I was younger, I believed the line was “Lead a snot into temptation.” I thought I was praying for my little sister to get into trouble.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

On this day of worship, I take time for my busy life to slow down, to reflect, and to worship You. I give thanks that I can worship at the church of my choice. I pray this day that I go beyond just attending services, to an everlasting spiritual experience reassuring me of Your ever-abiding presence.

I ask you to have at least 50 total by bedtime. Just jot them down. I’m only asking you to think of seven things in addition to the list that make your soul and heart smile. Natural Highs

1. Falling in love.

Have you ever stumbled through a dark room? I broke my toe that way one time, and then hopped around the dark house in pain, and fell over a table. How simple it would have been to just “turn on the light,” then I could have found my way.

Have you ever traveled down a country road at night that seemed to be barren, deserted, and stark – only to discover that traveling the same road in the light of day brought a tremendous change? In the light of day, the beauty of nature that was on both sides of the road was revealed. As you learn more and more in the light of true understanding, your life is changed for the better. In the light of God, there is no fear, no apprehension, no insecurity. In the light of God there is always an all-encompassing warmth of the promise of the abiding presence.

Whenever you seem to be traveling a path of darkness in your life, TURN ON THE LIGHT! Know that the light of God is always willing to shine for you and in you. As you look to God, you will be guided on a path of light, not darkness.

There is another type of darkness that needs to be illuminated within us; it is the darkness that sometimes can dwell in human mind. Depression and gloom cannot remain in the presence of the light of God. Perhaps it is harder in life to stumble through a dark mind.

Have you felt down or depressed about some situation in your life? Today, you have the opportunity to allow God’s light to flow through you, to bless the situation and all people concerned. God’s light turns on the joy-filled heart. God enables you to look past appearances and place any challenge in the light of proper perspective.

In Psalms 4:7, our Bible states, “Thou hast put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.” This scripture refers to God’s light of the inner joy that is not affected or changed by outer conditions. Every day, God can turn the light on in your mind eliminating darkness and helping you to think clearly.

Jesus urged you, though, to do more with this light. He said in many ways that this light is not just for you, but comes through you to help illumine others.

He told you NOT to hold your light under a bushel, but to be the light of the world.

You become a gift of joy that God gives to a wonderful world. In all that you do, in whatever experience you find yourself, God’s wellspring of joy remains unchanged within you. It is immeasurable, abiding, and ready for you to give expression to it.

Many persons and many things in the world contribute to your joy and happiness, and you give thanks for each one because you will be able to see each one in the light of a new day. You also give thanks for the knowledge of God’s wellspring of joy within you and for your ability to give expression to it.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I ask that You will infill me with illumination, in prayer I now touch the wisdom from above. I pray for Divine knowledge to change every idea inside of my mind, and uplift me to the light of new thinking. May I wear the countenance of faith, in the joy that I exhibit to all.

“Fear not, for I am with you.”

A new day, of a new week, is before us; we have a spiritual opportunity to practice the presence of God. For the next 24 hours, I invite you and all of our friends at Positive Christianity to eliminate worry from your lives.

To act out the principle of turning prayers over to God, one family took a paper bag, wrote “God” on it, and taped it up high on the back of their kitchen door. As they prayed about matters such as their careers, their role as a father, or mother, their abilities to be a good husband, or wife, they would write down each concern on a piece of paper. There all those pieces of paper would go in the bag. The rule was that if you start worrying about a matter of prayer that you have turned over to God, you have to climb up on a chair and fish it out of the bag. The family said that they did not want to admit how much time they spent sifting through those scraps of paper! But it taught them an important lesson of how useless and unnecessary worry is.

A problem not worth praying about – is not worth worrying about!

Worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do, but it does not get you anywhere.

A Swedish proverb says, “Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.”

Dr. Paul Brandwein, at the George Washington high school in New York City, used a simple yet dramatic demonstration to point out to his students how unproductive worry is. When the students came into class, he had a bottle of milk perched on a laboratory desk. After they were seated and wondering what experiment the milk was for, the doctor would startle the students by smashing the bottle of milk into the sink and exclaiming, “Don’t cry over spilt milk!”

He then invited his students to gather around the sink. “Take a good look,” he said, “because I want you to remember this lesson for the rest of your lives. That milk is gone – you can see it is down the drain; and all the fussing, and hair-pulling in the world will not bring back a single drop of it. All we can do is write it off, forget it, and go on to the next thing.”

A famous anonymous quote says, “The neurotic is a person who worries about something that did not happen in the past. He is not like us normal people who worry about things that will not happen in the future.”

A man once said, “When I do not have anything to worry about, I begin to worry about that.” That sounds funny, and yet that is precisely what many people do.

Live this day as a spiritual experiment to eliminate worry in your life. God will help you, For THIS is God’s will. Live in faith, not worry!

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, today, I choose not to worry. With Your help I will live the next 24 hours without doubting in God’s ever-present help. I will think on the best and blest outcomes. Through a touch of God, I am uplifted right now in mind. Every thought within my human mind has at its center a belief in oneness with God, and because of that, the best possible results follow. Better than my human mind can dream of, the genius ability of God opens up ways when there seems to be no way. With my human mind alone it is impossible; but with God, all things are possible. This day, I rely solely and completely on God. I place God first in every thought and feeling, every action, and reaction. I am not alone, I am connected to God – my help in every need.

In Jesus Christ’s name … amen

“The measure you give will be the measure you get, and STILL MORE WILL BE GIVEN YOU.”

You are a spiritual person, so you decide to go the extra mile, you give the extra blessing, and new doors of good are opened in your life.

Think of a time when someone did something for you that was totally unexpected, something that required an extra effort on their part. Do you recall how it made you feel? Do you recall how your heart overflowed with gratitude? That person’s giving of themselves opened the door for an exchange of love and appreciation between you. Since we can never give without receiving, who can say what other doors in their life may have been opened through this initial giving to you.

If you have been praying for some new good, for some new door to open in your life, think in terms of the law of giving and receiving. When you reach out in love and go the extra mile, when you give the extra blessing, you set into motion a chain reaction of good that enriches the lives of those around you, and unfailingly returns to enrich your life beyond that that you can imagine.

Your giving of yourself opens new doors to happy and abundant living.

You will find, after giving, that you have many more blessings to count, because you, first, have been a blessing to others. We all want more of God’s good in our world. You are God’s catalyst to create that good for others and in return, for yourself.

Do not be afraid to give yourself away, for in giving happiness is found.

Today is a good day to pray for opportunities to give, and to thank God for them.

In Nehemiah 2:20, our Bible states, “The God of Heaven will make us prosper.” But the biblical law is that we must give first, and then receive.

People think that giving is just about money, but it is so much more. Give as God guides you to give – a smile, an attentive ear, a compliment, a helping hand, or money. It is the spiritual time when you are not too busy with self-needs and you give self to others.

Each one of us, reading these words of this Positive Daily Inspiration, has individual and unique ways that we can give to the world around us. I suggest that for the next 12 hours, you dedicate yourself, this day, to seeking out opportunities to give of yourself.

Pray that you will not miss ANY opportunity where you are needed by God, to give a gift to one of God’s children.

Positive Daily Inspiration - October 25, 2022 - Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I invite you to close your eyes and enter into the awareness of the presence of God and have a spiritual experience of wonder and awe. This is a glorious inner-journey of prayer.

As you close your eyes, you prepare in prayer. You prepare to think less and receive more, to receive life and vitality, to listen to the small, still voice. The ever-real voice of God is with you at all times and can be heard whenever you agree to be aware of its presence.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

I pray the life of God is released in me, right now. I pray that every cell in my physical body feels this life of God. May this be such a real spiritual experience that I know what I feel is real – in me now. May the mind of God be fused to my mind. May my thoughts be the thoughts of God. May the words from my mouth be the words of God. May I proceed in my life, this week, with the wisdom of God guiding me and aiding me.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

I pray I have the power of God within my physical body. Every cell is in God’s power; every muscle is in God’s power; every joint is in God’s power, every bone of my skeletal system is in the power of God. When I move, I move with strength, vitality, and energy of God.

(Silence)

When I go about my work, I do not work alone. I work with God. It is my personal prayer, this day that I have this awareness of who and what I am and what I have with God. May my objective, this day, be to know God and to increase my faith. May God be my inspiration, my way, and my strength.

I ask you to rest in the silence of prayer …

In God I live. In God I move and I have my being. In me, God lives and moves and has expression. My mind accepts the genius of God. In God’s world, my life is filled with joy and happiness. Everything troubling in my life turns out better than my human mind can conceive. I live in God’s world, and in God’s world, good is unending.

It is my personal prayer for you, individually, that your good is unending; that you experience more good of God than you have ever known before in your lifetime; that it begins this moment; that your life is no longer a roller coaster of up-and-down activity. May your life be filled with friendship, love, and unexpected good approaching you from every direction.

May we all live in God’s world of abundant life and endless good. Each of us, this day, I pray, “Yes, God, I will. I will do Your Will because Your Will is absolute good.”

In the name and through the power of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
