Lift up, Rise up, and Live up

“And I, when I am lifted up … will draw all men to myself.”
John 12:32

We speak of ourselves as “only human” and we speak of understanding some person’s frailties because he or she is “only human.” We use being “human” as an excuse to fail a little here and there in our relationships and actions in life.

If we take a slightly different view of ourselves, and our relations with others, and our world, we find that we have with us the Christ spirit. We are not “only human” – we are children of God and therefore filled with potential – we are divinely human.

Taking this approach, we can lift ourselves up to God instead of bringing ourselves down to the lowest human factor. We can see the Divine quality in living our daily lives.

With Divine love to share, we find understanding of ourselves and others. With Divine patience and peace to meet every day, we bring the ease and harmony into our home, our workplace, and our world. With Divine insight we see the infinite possibilities for good in ourselves and others.

When we are purchasing a product, we are often offered an upgrade, well it is time to upgrade ourselves and make our life divinely human. Spiritual life is not stagnant; it is positive growth.

We must lift up, rise up, and live up.

Because we are divinely human, we are able to lift up – on a daily basis, to God, to rise up – to our potential and to live up – to the Christ standards and ideals.

Say this aloud as a prayer:

I lift my thoughts to God;
I lift my speech to God;
I lift my actions to God;
I lift myself to God.

Help me to help!
Help me to understand;
Help me to communicate;
These are my desires.

I pray that I may stay close to God,
That these desires may be fulfilled.
I open my mind;
I accept;
I receive.

That it is troubling me dissolves and disappears.

I thank You, God, for Your inspiration.
I thank You, God, for Your help in every need.
I am grateful every moment for Your loving, guiding presence.

RIGIDITY

“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is throwing into the oven, will God not much more cloth you, O people of little faith?”

“There are three I’s in the word “rigidity.”
Joel Hughes.

Rigidity is defined by the three I’s contained within – In self, Inflexible, and Incomplete.

When people are rigid, they are firmly entrenched – In “self,” so much so, that they are probably blind to the truth that another (or God) could offer. They miss out because they believe that they have figured it ALL out and know ALL that they need to know.

They become – inflexible to other people’s needs, wants, and desires. The rigid person lives only for themselves, rarely coming out of the cocoon of their own known past truth. They live within the walls of self-protection. The rigid person is not open to innovative ideas; they condemn themselves to lives of simple mediocrity of trying to re-find “the good-old-times.”

They condemn themselves to – incomplete lives because they are not partnering with God, and other people. The rigid person fights and resists change of any kind, trying to maintain the status quo of what they know, instead of exploring what they do not know.

It is true that people prefer a known hell to an unknown heaven. The unknown of God is always better than the known present human world.

Rigidity stands on a foundation of fear. The lilies of the field bend with the winds of change. The lilies of the field relax and let go. They grow as the non-rigid person grows, beautiful to others on the outside, and spiritually strong and beautiful on the inside.

I have been a minister for decades. Much of that time I taught self-help, which is extremely important. But I also believe that a person must spiritually mature beyond that. Self-improvement is critical to grow spiritually. But the mature spiritual person must become concerned with other’s improvement.

We must become involved in something bigger than ourselves. We must be humble enough that we remain teachable. The rigid person can become much more than they are presently, if they allow God and others to teach them new and better ways. Life is for the living. To be alive we must be in a journey of discovery.

Life should always be exciting and new, and never stagnant.

I have found that every time I’ve been trapped by my own opinions and beliefs, I have missed great opportunities standing before me, waving a flag to get my attention inviting me to partake of a higher life. God always gives us the choice, and we have the free will to accept or to reject the good that God wants to give.

We live from the inside out. We do not have to be self-protective and rigid. We do not have to be like a clam, clammed up in self-protection. It is not protection; it is a prison. But the good news is we are the jailer. We hold the keys. We can rely upon God and be open to new ideas, new people, new ways, and new places. God will take care of us, clothing our outer and inner life with beauty and Divine good.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, take away my fear. I choose to no longer live my life afraid.
Jesus says, “God is love,” if You are love, whom do I fear?
I no longer fear God,
I no longer fear life,
I no longer fear new ideas.
I choose to be teachable,
and learn new and better ways.
I am not afraid of self-reinvention.

Let us pray:

My own spiritual Self, be Thou quickened in me. Let me awaken to God’s light. Let God’s help illumine my mind, cleansing all doubt and unbelief. Let God fill my heart, cleansing and purifying until there is no darkness and no unforgiveness.

In the silence of prayer …

Let new spiritual power radiate in and through my body temple, healing, renewing, and restoring every atom, cell, organ, and function until my body glows with life.

Let Your help God flood my affairs, lifting them into the light of Your omnipresence.

Let Your love God harmonize all my relationships until love reigns supreme.

Let Your ideas God prosper, multiply, and magnify the good until I have plenty to spare and to share.

Let Your illumination God shine on my path, showing me the way to go and to be.

In the silence of prayer …

Dear God, let this day be a joyous realization that You are all I need and all I desire. Let me so attune myself to Your glory that it shines through me as a blessing to everyone in my life. I pray that Your love will flood my entire consciousness, and I will be free from all that would hinder or block me.

Dear God, activate in my mind/body, my thoughts, and feelings, so there is nothing but You. Dear God, I would be one with You. Expand my awareness and make me ever conscious of You in all I think, feel, and do.

This day, find me in a deeper, higher, and more illumined consciousness. I would have no will but Yours, no judgment but Yours, no way but Yours. Let hope, peace, love, and joy reign supreme, and joy be mine forever and ever.

In the silence of prayer …

For this holy feast of hope, and great expectation, we let the power of our imaginations cast blessings on all the events of the days ahead.

We dedicate ourselves as channels for the coming of the grace and truth of the Christ upon the earth.

We ask God’s blessings on our homes. We invite the prospering activity of the Holy Spirit to bless our homes with warmth, order, and love.

We ask God’s special blessings for children – their dreams, their hopes, their joy. We bless our children and behold in them the pure joy and beauty of christ love.

We ask the blessings of Divine graciousness on the direction of our lives. Divine love graciously and lavishly supplies the beauty living.

We ask God’s guidance to aid in the selection of the choices we will make in thing and in actions. Divine intelligence guides us in the living of our lives. We give lovingly, and we receive graciously.

Rest in the silence of prayer, in the glorious silence of God …

We ask for God’s presence to be at all gatherings of friends and families during this week. We know that Divine love will bring harmony, healing love, and enjoyment wherever two or more are gathered in God’s name this week.

We ask the peace of the Christ to manifest in the world this week. The Christ of peace expresses from every human heart, and earth rejoices in the spirit of brotherhood, sisterhood, and our oneness with God.

We ask God’s blessings on the lights of our lives. We pray that the lights illumine hearts of people everywhere.

Thank You, dear God, for the spiritual beauty of this week.

Rest again, in the glorious silence of prayer …

For the hope of this week, and the awareness of God’s help as never before, we give thanks.

Never doubt the power of God to work through you. To think that you are not good is to doubt God’s power. Lord, I believe!

Never stop praying no matter how hopeless your case may seem.
Pray before you start your day and when you end it.
Pray before you begin a task.

Lord, I thank You for all of your blessings. Together we can do all that I must.

Put Christ first in your life and everything else will fall into place.

Lord, I praise Your name and thank You for your constant gifts.

Memo from God

I am God. Today I will be managing all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help. If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. It will be addressed in My time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair. There are people in this World for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad, think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the man in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed his children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking, “What is my purpose?” be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness, or insecurities, remember, things could be worse. You could be them!!!!

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me to have the in spite of faith. Help me to never look at what I consider wrong with my life and help me to head up the sum total of what is right so that I can build from that positive foundation.

There are times when we need courage and a feeling of being poised and serene. No matter what is in our everyday life that calls for courage, through God’s help we can meet it. We can be courageous, poised, and serene in any time of need and in every situation.

Always remember, what is huge for you to do, IS NOTHING FOR GOD. God is willing to come through you at any time, to strengthen you up, and fortify your being.

If others have a need to be courageous, poised, and serene, let us know that through God they too can meet all things. The faith that we have in those for whom we pray is always a tremendous help to them. Our positive affirmative prayers carry a huge blessing.

As we know in our hearts that we can have the God-given courage needed to live a good and fulfilled life, we will find that nothing dismays us, and nothing daunts us. We stand poised and serene, knowing that through God’s help we can do whatever is needed to fulfill our lives and enrich our world.

In meeting the everyday challenges of life, we are always searching for right answers. Nearly every one of us has unexpected circumstances to meet, and our first thought always is: What am I going to do about this? What is the right answer?

If you train your mind to be open and receptive to the mind of God within you and turn to this guidance instantly when there is something to meet, you will receive direct and inspiring ideas. You will know what to do and how to do it. You will be strong for your strength is not your own.

Let your mind be open and free and joyous as you remember your oneness with a great source of help.

Think of yourself as filled with the Spirit of God; and in all that confronts you, take the stand that you have God’s help with you and within you. This gives you the direct approach to the right answers, no matter what the need or condition.

No matter what the question is, God has the precise answer and is waiting to give it to you.

Do not allow conditions to weaken you, instead allow God to strengthen you. What you discover in your time of need will be a knowledge that you can use every day for the rest of your life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I now go directly to You and I choose not to live my life alone any longer. I pray dear God that You will fill my mind, my body, and my soul to overflowing with the flood stage of Your strength, poise, and serenity.

PRAY FIRST, AIM HIGH AND STAY FOCUSED

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17

There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat. He had an old shotgun and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out and shoot something for dinner. As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit and he shot at the rabbit and missed it. Then he saw squirrel, fired a shot at the squirrel, and missed it.

As he went further, he saw a wild turkey in the tree, and he had only one bullet, but a voice came to him and said, “Pray first, aim high and stay focused.” However, at the same time, he saw deer which was a better dinner. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattlesnake.

Still, the voice said again to him, “I said ‘pray first, aim high and stay focused.'”

So, the man decided to listen to the voice. He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the turkey and shot the deer. The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake in the head and killed it.

And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond. When he stood to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a deer and a turkey to eat. The snake was dead also because the man listened to God.

Bottom line:

Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused on God.

Never let others discourage you concerning your past. The past is exactly that – “the past.” Live every day, one day at a time. And remember that only God knows our future and that God will not put you through any more than you can bear. Do not look to humans for your blessings but look to God. God can open doors for you that only God is able to do – doors that you will not slip through, but doors that only God has prepared in advance, for you, in your favor. Wait, and be still, be patient. Keep God first and everything else will follow.

P.S. When troubles are knocking at your door, simply say, “God, could you please get that for me?”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

I thank You, dear God.
I am blessed. I have life, I have liberty, and I have the opportunity. for the pursuit of happiness.

When You Go through Deep Waters

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God.” Isaiah 43:2

I heard on a radio broadcast on XM someone refer to Old Man Trouble. They blamed everything on Old Man Trouble. They said they could not move ahead and do great things because Old Man Trouble was standing in their way. All of us encounter occasional setbacks, but we must not blame these on a mythical adversary that is working against us 24 hours a day.

There’s only one that is working 24 hours a day – and it is for us, not against us – and that is God. We must not make mythical imaginings in our minds based on fear, to stand behind, and blame our fate upon.

When we encounter adversity, what is important is the way we choose to deal with it, and with whose help we call upon.

When tough times arrive, we need to get tougher. The closer we are in an awareness of God, the more confidence we will have in God when we are under fire.

We go to God to learn how to tackle our problems, not to run, and hide, and cower in the corner. When we summon up the courage to look Old Man Trouble squarely in the eye, we will find he blinks and retreats. God, on the other hand, never leaves us – NOT even for a moment. God NEVER falters and God NEVER fails because God is steadfastly on our side, in front of us, and behind us.

There is a Native American saying that if you give a person a fish, you feed that person one meal; but if you teach a person how to fish, you feed him, or her, for an entire lifetime.

Some of the greatest transforming experiences come from the depths of challenge. Although the challenges you have experienced are not necessarily what you thought you needed to experience, you’re wiser and your life is richer for having come through them. You receive the challenge’s blessing if you receive its lesson and were taught by it.

Proverbs 19:8 states, “To keep understanding is to prosper.”

I have learned that I can neither give, nor receive anything of value, that does not have God as its original source. So many times, I have tried to spin my wheels on my own, to get through difficulties, and in the end, looking back, it has been fruitless.

But instead of cowering in some corner, when I pressed on in complete faith in God, I arrived fully intact, with a smile on my face, at the destination of victory.

Years ago, I met Robert Schuller. He spoke at the ministry that I served. Robert Schuller said, “Press on. Obstacles are seldom the same size tomorrow as they are today.”

I love books on history; last year I read the book John Adams. John Adams said, “Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear, and obstacles vanish into the air.”

When we attack our problems with God-given courage – and keep attacking them – the result of our endurance will bring success.

Look to God and ask God to give you strength to keep working even when you’d rather quit. People that are God fortified are not quitters. Find the God-given courage to stand in the face of adversity. In the end, only faith, courage, and perseverance are proven effective at making problems evaporate into nothing.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray for the spiritual experience that will melt in my mind the fear-based imagery and show me Your truth.
I pray that daily I become more because of my ever increasing awareness of You.

Positive Daily Inspiration - March 21, 2023
Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“I trust in the steadfast love of God for ever and ever.”
Psalms 52:8

During our time of prayer and meditation, we open ourselves entirely to this spiritual experience. Our experience this day is one of Divinely directed change, the opportunity to change our point of view, change experiences, change what we feel about ourselves and others, through the help of God.

“We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s Will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Change comes to all of us, for growth brings change. Change need never frighten us. Change can be whatever we make it – a blessing or a challenge. It is always made into a blessing through God’s power.

Is some change shaking the foundation of your world as you have known it? Are the circumstances of your life turning in a different direction, making you unsure of what lies ahead?

Listen to the words God put upon the mind of the prophet Isaiah [paraphrased]:

“Thus say the Lord, remember not the former things or consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing something new. Now it springs forth. Do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

God’s promise to you is that God will be with you through any change. Sometimes we expend great energy in resisting change simply because we feel unaccustomed to it and feel accustomed to the familiar, comfortable patterns are already established in our lives.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

It is during these times that a change in the pattern, whether small or major, can seem to throw us off balance and cause us to feel confused or upset. When such an event occurs, the best course we can take is to center ourselves in God and affirm our oneness with God.

As we center ourselves in God, let us realize that change is part of God’s divine plan for us–a plan that will help us achieve what is highest and best for us.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Do you wish for some circumstance to be changed right now? It can be, with God’s help. It will be changed, for nothing remains forever the same. Do you wish that your life could be different? It can be with God’s help. Through God this very moment, things are changing for the better. Old limitations are falling away. New and inviting doors are opening before you.

Ask for God’s help in the silence of prayer …

Do you wish that you had more strength, more life, more vitality? You can with God’s help. You have this help right now, for you have the strengthening, sustaining, and revitalizing life of God, mighty in the midst of you. Right now, you can be happy, free, strong, and well. Right now, this very moment, your life can change, and it is changing for the better.

Dear God, we are so grateful for life, as it is unfolding in our life and in our experiences. We are grateful for the courage, strength, vision and stability of mind we have to know that all things are actually working together for our highest good, even in the midst of change.

(Silence)

Not only do we welcome this truth for ourselves, but as we go beyond this sanctuary, we know that for all people everywhere, there is this energy of change and growth. This motivation is stimulating the minds and hearts of all Your creation, dear God. We are so grateful.

We know this for our world, and the leaders of the countries of our world. We know that this change is touching each of them, inviting them to study spiritual things and to look for peaceful ways to live together.

Change is taking place. We know this for ourselves and for our world.

In Jesus Christ’s nature, rest in the silence of prayer …

As we return to full awareness of this experience, this morning, opening ourselves as never before, allowing our fears to become still, our inhibitions and anxieties to quiet themselves, we are directed and we feel the influence of the change that our souls desire, with God’s full and active help.

We go forth now. And as we do, we remain excited for this Jesus Christ experience of change. For this we are so grateful.

And so it is … Amen.
