In the Native American tradition, one member of the tribe assumes the role of “Faith keeper.” This person’s role is to remain at peace, centered in spiritual vision, no matter what events befall the tribe. Even if everyone else in the tribe slips into pain, fear, or dissention, the Faith keeper is the one person the tribe can rely on as a lifeline to the Presence of God.

This is our role now.

In the face of the strange and shocking events, it would be almost humanly impossible not to be moved and challenged. Who could look upon such inhumanity and not be shaken?

Yet there is a place within all of us that is always connected to our higher being. That is the place to go to now. Your greatest contribution is your clarity, sense of purpose, and vision.

If you go into fear or terror, negativity has won.

It has succeeded in terrorizing you. Is that the role you would play?

Would you not rather overcome hatred with love?

Doubt with trust?

Sorrow with comfort?

“Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered.

The question is not, “Have you moved off your center?”

The question is, “How quickly can you regain it?”

For many years we have been studying the principles of spiritual truth.

Now is the time to put them into practice.

When things are going well, it is easy to find God. When things seem chaotic, it is harder. The strength we build by claiming Divine order when it is utterly unapparent is paramount. Spiritual mastery is gained in times just such as these.

Know that in every seeming dark cloud, there is a miracle in there somewhere.

Let us not use any event as a way to stay disconnected from higher power. Hold firm to your sense of wholeness and that of everyone you consider.

When you are upset, you are ineffective to see a right course of action. When you are positive, you are very powerful.

Mahatma Gandhi noted, “The pure love of one person can offset the hatred of thousands.” The pure love of one person can offset the anxiety of thousands.”

Let us each be that one person.

There are two elements to every problem: What happened, and what we do with it.

What was done has been done. What will be is still in our hands. We can make of it what we choose. We can use it as a justification to lash out or we can build a new consciousness that has no home for terror. Let us begin by quitting terrifying ourselves with scary thoughts. Love disarms.

God is here to help us pick up the pieces and move on. And we will be closer to home for it.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, sometimes I do not understand why things happen. I ask for Your strength and power to move beyond the large and the small tragedies of daily life. Empower me to not anchor myself in the negative mistakes of a few, but to ground myself in Your presence and Your power.

Are you going through a dark experience, a time when things seemed unjust?

“Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
Exodus 14:13

Remember the promise, “It is the Lord your God who goes with you; God will not fail you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8

Let go of all resentment or fear. Let go and let God take over. God is present in every person and every situation, and you can trust God to bring about that which is right, just, good, and orderly.

God is your strength, your peace, your unfailing help in every need. Release all your needs to God and trust in the perfect outworking of God’s good and loving law. No matter what the situation, let your prayer be, “Thank You, God, for the perfect outworking of this and every situation.

Some of the experiences and circumstances of your life change every day; this can be highly stressful if you allow it to be. These changes are inevitable. You may initiate them, or they may be initiated by others. You may desire them, or you may wish that they had never occurred.

Regardless of the changes you experience, you can, at any time, return and rest in God, then you will meet each one with confidence and courage.

In 2 Corinthians 4:18, the Bible states, “We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

If the appearances you face seem overwhelming, you overcome any sense of helplessness by relying on God-sustaining presence. In God, you are strengthened and fortified continuously.

Through any experience, whether you call it good or bad, you can meet it with confidence and courage, as you let go of the ineffectual thoughts, feelings, and habits. You meet life with confidence and courage as you hold positive, loving thoughts, as you continually praise God and your fellow humans, as you act in harmony with your world, as you give thanks for the unchanging love of God.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER

I pray that this day, and every day, and every moment, I am blessed by God and fortified by God’s strength and power. I pray that I know God and God’s ever-present help, constantly and consistently. I pray that I do not rely upon my own power alone. This moment, I return and I rest in the living presence of God ever with me. May I be blessed in profound ways.

Luke 6:37

Today, say aloud this prayer:

“I am not found in lower personal consciousness.
All unloving, unforgiving thoughts are released with God’s help.
I see myself and others in a new light.”

Tonight, sit for half an hour, in prayer, just before you go to bed, and mentally forgive everyone that you have held anything against. If you have allowed any feelings of hurt, injustice, or unforgiveness to build up in you, you now, consciously, deny their power to destroy even an hour of your life. Unforgiveness is like a poison that is held in the human body and mind. If it is not released, it will come out in some undesirable way, such as sickness.

When you sit for half an hour before sleep and choose to forgive, you are affirming, in prayer, your freedom from lower personal consciousness and from states of mind that keep you unhappy with yourself and critical of others.

Doing this, at this critical time, when the mind is open and receptive and ready to go to sleep – to relax and to allow God to work through you with great, forgiving love as you sleep, has great power. Having affirmed your freedom in prayer, you act on it. When thoughts that are less than loving and forgiving come to mind, you annul them with thoughts of God’s love, and thoughts of pure forgiveness. With God’s help, during the night, new feelings of harmony and peace will sweep over you.

You are empowered by God to see yourself in a new light, and you see all others in a new light, and you follow through on this new vision by expressing a new spirit of forgiveness and understanding.

Make this activity a spiritual habit every night. When you are anxious about some other person or about the actions that you did, you pray, and let go, and let God takeover. You find freedom from anxiety as you hold to the realization that God is in charge, and that all things are working out in right and perfect ways.

This change happens in us. We do not put off our own good until another person changes. Often we may require the other person to jump through imaginary hoops we have set up in our minds to prove themselves. Forgiveness in today’s language means release – self-release.

True forgiveness is releasing the poison from within ourselves,

Spiritually forgiveness has nothing to do with the other person.

Unforgiveness is self-abuse.

Forgiveness is about giving a gift that is beyond what many people think they can give. It is an ultimate gift, and we give, and we find in the end it is a gift that we give to ourselves.

Joy is found again. Joy cannot be found in holding onto the grudges; true joy is in giving God’s love; it is for – giving.

Our lower human mind tries to tell us that we MUST hold onto that information, which is like our stomachs telling us that we need to hold onto and ingest the poison that another person fed to us. It does not hurt the other person to hold onto something that hurts us. We must release.

When you let go and let God forgive through you, you find strengthened renewal in the realization that the pure love of God is flowing freely through you, cleansing, healing, and restoring you.

Spiritually you will find that if you can’t do it, God can through you. Every night, you let go and let God’s healing work be done in you. First, to work on the big things and then, when those are forgiven, you go into daily maintenance, making a conscious decision not to go to bed thinking ill-will against another person, place, or thing – or about yourself.

You find assurance in the realization that your power of forgiveness comes from God, and that you are never separated from your source. You have faith in God’s loving provision to empower your thoughts and attitudes towards others and towards yourself, today, and in the days to come.

Tonight, one half an hour before sleep, you let go, and let God take over in your life.

Tonight, dear God, I pray that this is the moment in time that I am beginning the process of total release from the pain that I have held too long.
I ask for Divine help. I am willing and ready to release and forgive.

“In God we live and move and have our being … For we are indeed God’s offspring.”

Speak and feel these words with power:

I am always at home in God. In God’s presence, I find peace, protection, and security. When I am tempted to feel alone or uncared for, I remember I am God’s beloved child and that I can never be apart from God. Abiding in the assurance of God’s love and care, I see myself as happy and joyous.

With God’s ever-present help I am successful and a prosperous offspring of the Most High. In God’s presence, I have everything I need to live fully and completely. I relax and give thanks that in God, I am whole and complete. Through God’s grace and goodness, I am blessed with peace and plenty.

Living in God, I enjoy fullness of life. I know that I can never lack for any good thing. As this realization grow in me, I find that I am stronger, freer, and more blessed with self-assurance. I have found my place in God and I abide in God forever.

I am calm and confident, today; sure, of right guidance, for God’s light shines on my way. My prayer dissolves fear and loosens the bonds of the indecisiveness. Through prayer, I received not only right answers, I also deceive the courage and strength needed to act on those answers that come.

I am at home in God, today. I feel safety and security all around me. I am enveloped in a Spirit of love and trust. I am assured by the presence of God that my help is at hand. I do my part, today; I release any limiting thought of doubt. I let it go now and place my entire faith in God’s light that shines continually on my path.

As I trust God, follow God’s guidance, and act on it with confidence I realize that wherever I am – God is. I experience the joy that is born of faith. I am blessed by God, and I am a blessing to others. I relax in the environment of God, I feel a Divine tranquility circle round about me. I find that everything is in God’s perfect Divine order.

No disorder can stand up to the perfect order of God. I am at the center of the shelter of the Most High.

God’s umbrella of safety, security, joy, and happiness cover my life and the lives of those that I care about. I realize that as much as I care as a human being – that God loves and cares more.

God and I are One. This is a truth for you. Looking at others in your life, you sense certain qualities you admire much. Yet, the inward voice reminds you that to sense those qualities in others is to possess the potential within yourself. You honor the qualities of God’s Spirit, wherever they may be sensed, and you attend to the potential within yourself.

In your deepening sense of unity with the one Presence of God, you are willing to own those qualities that are yours. They live deep within your being like gold, deep in the earth to be brought into the open, refined and given expression. You are enriched by the creation of your being.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Where there has been a sense of alienation, there is a potential for love. You attend to that sense of being connected to God in life. You honor that sense and step forward in spirituality into your world.

Where you have closed yourself to receive, there is a potential to be open to God’s gifts drawn to you. You attend to your capacity to receive and to respond with wisdom and loving appreciation.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Where there has been a sense of being deprived and having unmet needs, there is a potential from God to experience the fullness of being wonderfully human.

Do you know that you live in the midst of God’s infinite love? It is not possible for you to stray outside the boundaries of love – for God’s love is boundless.

You surrender your heart to infinite love so the love of God may be complete in you. God is the love that you feel now.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

You let go of fear and confusion. They are illusions and hinder love. Faith and knowledge are supported by God’s infinite love.

You do not allow the pain of the past to mar the beauty in the present. You do not isolate yourself from the joy of living this day in total love.

All creation is an expression of love. You now let love motivate you to create and express love intentionally with words and actions.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Love is a dream when it is a feeling, but love is real when it is lived. You give life this day to the dream of love. You express God’s love now.

In the loving nature of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Today, you agree to hold kind thoughts about the people in your home, workplace, community, and world. As you bless others, you are blessed with tranquil mind and harmonious relationships. You find the good that is in every person and in every situation, for God is present with all people and in all places.

When you think kind thoughts, you will also speak words that establish harmony and goodwill. Kind words can change the course of your day, and the course of the day for a troubled or unhappy person. Kind words have a soothing quality that act as a soothing balm of peace.

Words of love and consideration have a healing effect felt by both the one speaking them and those to whom they are spoken.

Today, view the whole world and everyone in it with patience and kindness.
Think kind thoughts, today, and speak kind words.

You will be instantly rewarded with peace in your mind and heart.

You can be kind to yourself, too.

When you keep your heart free and receptive to God’s good, you are able to live happily and successfully. In order to achieve those things that are most worthwhile, you need to prepare for them, diligently and maintain self- discipline. This can only be done when you are kind to yourself. Keeping your heart from becoming burdened and heavy laden requires a constant vigil over every secret thought, for thoughts held in mind become part of your experiences.

In our Bible, it states, in Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life.”

If you are unhappy with any area of your life, now is the time for kindness instead of self-condemnation. You have the power and authority to close the door on those thoughts that might interfere with your God-given freedom. You work with God by thinking positive, happy, uplifting, self-kindness thoughts that bring immediate improvement in the way you feel. As you remain persistent in keeping your heart free and receptive to God’s good, lasting changes do take place.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Faithful Shepherd, feed me
In the pastures green;
Faithful Shepherd, lead me
Where Thy steps are seen.

Hold me fast and guide me
In the narrow way;

“According to the riches of God’s glory may God grant you to be strengthened with might through God’s Spirit and the inner human.”
Ephesians 3:16

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

John was a Christian and was not used to hearing such vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird’s mouth was rude, obnoxious, and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird’s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to ‘clean up’ the bird’s vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked, kicked, and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet.

Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he’d hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John’s outstretched arms and said, “I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions.

I’m sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.”

John was stunned at the change in the bird’s attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly, “May I ask what the turkey did?”

This is the story of the poor young woman flying in a two-seater airplane with just the pilot.

He has a heart attack and dies. She frantically calls a May Day:

“May Day!! May Day!! Help me!! Help me!! My pilot had a heart attack and is dead. And I don’t know how to fly.

Help me!! Please help me!!”

All of a sudden, she hears a voice over the radio saying:

“This is the tower. I have received your message and I will talk you through it. I’ve had a lot of experience with this kind of problem. Now, just relax. Everything will be fine!!

Now give me your height and position.”

She says, “I’m 5’4″ and I’m in the front seat.”

“O.K.” says the voice from the tower. “Repeat after me: Our Father … Who art in Heaven … “

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

In willingness, I give myself in entirety to expressing and experiencing the full spirit of God.

This week I live in hope and express that to everyone that crosses my path.

I let my light shine, and my life this week is in total faith in God.

DIRECTIONS TO GOD’S HOUSE

If these directions are followed, on point, you’ll have no worries! Follow closely so you will not get lost. The journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step.

Reminder: Stay on the “Right Street.”

Make a Right onto “Believeth Blvd.”

Keep Straight through the first Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

Stay on “Believeth Blvd.” until you reach the “Bridge of Faith,” which is over troubled water.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn.

You are on the “King’s Highway” – Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles:
One for the Father,
One for the Son, and
One for the Holy Ghost.

Then exit off onto “Grace Blvd.”

Continue on “Grace Blvd.” to “Gospel Lane,” and then make a Right.

Keep Straight and then make another Right on “Prayer Blvd.”

As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on “Temptation Ave.” Also, avoid worry Street because it is a DEAD END.

Pass up “Envy Drive” and “Hate Avenue.”

Also, pass “Hypocrisy Street,” “Gossiping Lane,” and “Backbiting Blvd.”

But, you have to go down “Faith Lane,” “Believing Blvd.,” and “Thanksgiving Ave.”

“VICTORY Blvd.” is straight ahead!
God’s house is on the right.

People love you for the way THEY FEEL when they are with you.

What are the gifts you have to give others, the gifts that are remembered and cherished long after they are given? What are the gifts that mean the most, that bring a feeling of joy and happiness, that last far beyond a special day or event.

They are the gifts that only you can give. They are the gifts that you can share out of the gifts that God has given to you. Think about the gifts that God has given you and make this a truly joyous time for yourself and others by sharing these God-given gifts.

“I give you what I have.” You have a perfect gift to give anyone anytime. Life is God’s gift to you. You can give the gift of life to others. When you think in terms of life and healing, when you pray for others, you are helping them to awaken to the life of God that is available to them. Your own awareness of the healing life of God in which you have your existence makes your prayers effective. Give your gift of life. Speak words of life and healing, behold the healing life of God in the one for whom you pray.

Peace is God’s gift to you. Peace is a gift you can share. The peace you feel in your heart makes you a peacemaker. You can bring the gift of peace to every situation. You can give the gift of peace to any troubled person. You can share of your peace and serenity with those around you. You can give the gift of peace through your prayers, through your peaceful thoughts and words, and through your loving and harmonious attitudes and actions. Pour out your blessings of peace onto others because you are centered and poised in the peace of God. See the peace of Jesus Christ filling the souls of your loved ones in making all things right in their world.

God has given you the gift of joy. You can give joy to others. You can be the one whose very presence brings joy. You can be the one who makes life righter and happier for all those around you. You have the gift of joy from God, a joy that keeps you strong and sure, and you also have the God-given power to share it with others.

Is someone dear to you sad or downhearted? Pray for them in the realization that there is a joyful action of God that is working within them to lift them up. Rejoice and give thanks that God is working with them, renewing with a joy giving Spirit. Your feeling of the inner joy and your joy as attitude make you a natural giver of joy and bringer of joy to others.

You have been given the gift of wisdom from God, and you can share it. When others seem to grope in darkness, when they are seeking guidance and light, you can give them the gift of wisdom by knowing the truth that there is but one source of light and guidance, and by having the wisdom to bless others and pray for them in this knowledge. You give others the gift of wisdom as you behold the light of God shining in them. You give the gift of wisdom as you trust the all wise Spirit of God to be their guide and their light. The greatest gift of wisdom you can give to others is the gift of your wise realization that with them is the source of all they need to understand, to grow, to find right and happy direction.

God has given you the gift of courage, you can share this gift with others. You can give the gift of courage that has helped you to stand strong and secure. You can give others courage by your own steady, fearless approach to life and by your own sure and certain faith in God as the one presence and the one power in your life. You can give others the gift of courage by believing in them knowing that they have the ability to meet life fearlessly, by knowing that they are never alone. Wherever they are, God is.

You can give the gift of courage by praying for your loved ones, placing them in God’s care, by encouraging them to believe in themselves and to believe in God and God’s power ever with them.

You have been given the gift of Divine approval. You can always give your approval, but how can you give Divine approval? Divine approval is the approval you give another from the highest part of you. You behold others the way that God beholds them. You look past appearances and see a perfect child of God.

I’m in London England today, going to the museums. I love looking at artifacts and history.

Great works of art are often considered priceless possessions. Every family has something that they consider great work of art. It may be their child’s kindergarten drawing of a turkey. My parents kept such a drawing of mine for their entire lives. All it shows me, is that I do not have any skill in this area.

When I am at home, I love to watch the Antiques Roadshow on PBS, and would love to take some of my items that I have saved for years to be appraised by them. It is everyone’s dream to take some item that has been in an attic Since 1999 and have it appraised at over $1 million dollars. In truth, I know that I don’t have anything close to that, but the fun experience would be worth a million to me. I once stood in line almost all night long, outside the CBS Studios in California to be on “The Price is Right.” I didn’t win anything that time either, but the experience is priceless.

Precious memories held in mind become works of art.

Look at compositions of the Master of Music, that music has remained a hit for hundreds of years! Surely the beauty of the soul has been expressed in such works of art.

Perhaps the greatest priceless possession is love, followed by health, followed by satisfaction, peace, and joy. These things in completeness are given by God.

And just in case you haven’t realized it know that you are work of art too. Even more than that, you are work of the Spirit of God. You are experiencing God’s greatest gift – life itself. God created you, and only you, so you are unique and special. No one can ever duplicate or replace you.

So whether or not the image you see in the mirror is one you think of it as a work of art, know that you are! If you have not considered the people around you as prized creations, take another look at them. As God’s creation, every person is of irreplaceable beauty and worth.

Would you describe your life as a work of art, or as a piece of trash?

Would the Potter criticize the clay with a piece that is not yet done?

During times when you are troubled and anxious, you can always turn to God and feel the loving presence of the Christ. The awareness of this presence strengthens your faith and helps you to meet life confidently. But it does even more. It can re-form a damaged life into a beautiful thing.

You are never alone. You have the companionship of the Christ. You are loved.

As you keep your mind and heart centered in the Christ love, you have a feeling of renewal that nothing can disturb. You are uplifted, sustained, and strengthened. You find true beauty in your mind through God’s peace.

Slowly but surely, your life becomes a work of art that only God could create. It is a true miracle. You will live in a joy-filled atmosphere and radiate that joy to others. Your life will shine as you express the love of God. God has inexhaustive gifts for you ready to be called forth at any time. You will have a life that is true, filled with lasting joy and happiness that can only come from a Divine source.

God’s gifts are just that– gifts. A small investment will reap lifetime rewards, the time that you turn the God in prayer, and you consent and accept God’s works in and through you.

Dear God, no matter what circumstance may arise, with Your help I do not give negativity a place in my thoughts. I now confidently release every situation to You and know that I need never doubt the perfect outcome.
