If even for a moment you feel apart from God, get a piece of paper and write “God.” Then next to it write “me.” Then draw a circle around “God” and “me.” You will see how the circle of God’s love makes you one.

Jesus told you to always rely upon God.

There may be times when you wonder if you will be strong enough to meet some circumstance in your life. But even before you can breathe a prayer for strength, the very presence of God is there with you, your strength, your strong support, and your loving comforter.

God gives you strength you need when you need it. You are never alone. If you need physical strength; God supplies this need. God’s life fills you with strength and energy and ever-increasing vitality.

When you need emotional and spiritual strength, God supplies this need. You are given the strength to stand firm. You are given the strength to maintain your composure and poise. You are given the strength to go through what may seem to be a difficult time with serenity of spirit and peace of mind.

God is your strength and loving comforter. In God you find peace of mind and understanding of your life. God is your help in every need.

GOD WILL ASK

God won’t ask how many material possessions you had,
God will ask if they dictated your life.
God won’t ask what your highest salary was,
God will ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

God won’t ask how much overtime you worked,
God will ask if your overtime work was for yourself or for your family.

It is with the saddest heart that I must pass on the following news. Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, Snap-Crackle and Pop along with Captain Crunch.

The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he was still a crusty old man and was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly dad, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, ‘Are you a cop? Yes,’ I answered and continued writing the report. ‘My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?’ ‘Yes, that’s right,’ I told her. ‘Well, then,’ she said as she extended her foot toward me, ‘would you please tie my shoe?’

While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, ‘The tooth fairy will never believe this!’

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me to realize that worship means worth-ship.
Help me to see what it fully means to be Your child.
Help me to sense what it means to be heir to Your kingdom.
Help me to possess a spiritual awareness giving value to self.
Come through me, so I may make a difference with the life you have given me.

I begin by reading from Kahlil Gibran’s book The Prophet:

“And then a scholar said, Speak of Talking.

And he answered, saying:

You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts.

And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart, you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime.

And in much of your talking, thinking is half-murdered.

For thought is a bird of space, that in the cage of words may, indeed, unfold its wings but cannot fly.

There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone. The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape.

And there are those who talk, and without knowledge or forethought, reveal a truth which they themselves do not understand.

And there are those who have the truth within them, but they tell it not in words. In the bosom of such as these, the Spirit dwells in rhythmic silence.

When you meet a friend on the roadside or in the marketplace, let the Spirit in you move your lips and direct your tongue.

Let the voice within your voice speak to the ear of his ear.

For his soul will keep the truth of your heart as the taste of the wine is remembered when the color is forgotten, and the vessel is no more.”

An old Chinese proverb says, “We have two ears and two eyes but one tongue in order that we may see and hear twice as much as we speak.”

Words are your most powerful agents of your mind. Words are the tools of the mind that create the conditions and experiences in your lives. You are always using the power of the spoken word, whether you are aware of it or not.

The big questions are this: What words are we speaking? And what conditions and experiences are we creating with our words?

Our lives are the results of the words that we speak.

Scripture says this: “By thy words, thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

Do we have a God condemning us?

No. We ourselves do the condemning and the judging constantly, every minute, by what we say and what we believe.

One man went to his Minister for help. He had many health problems. In a short while, it was quite evident to the Minister that this man was excessively negative. The Minister invited the man to affirm this next statement 20 times a day: EACH DAY I AM HEALTHIER AND HEALTHIER.

Well, the man returned in a week looking and feeling much worse.

His complaint this time was that he couldn’t use the affirmation very well because he kept losing count. The Minister said, “Well, take a string and tie 20 knots in that string.

Every time you say the statement, move your fingers down to another knot and you won’t have to count.

The man left pleased. When he came back the third time, he was looking worse than ever. “What are you doing?” asked the Minister. “Just what you told me,” said the man. “Twenty times a day I say, ‘Each Day I’m Getting Healthier and Healthier … knot.’

He was negating every positive statement that he made.

When you listen to yourself, I pray that you will hear wonderful things; not frightening things. The problem is, a lot of people say and believe very negative things about themselves.

They are their own worst enemy.

They are constantly talking themselves down. Then they come to a friend or a Minister for prayer and the Minister prays with them. But the Minister cannot change a whole lifetime of negative thought about themselves unless they want to change.

I’ll give you an example. Let’s say that every moment of the day, every day of the week, you talked and believed negative things about yourself. Then you came to me, and we prayed.

That is like if we had a huge tub of water here, the size of this lectern, and the water is at 70 degrees. Then, we pour in one glass of 90-degree water. It’s not going to change the temperature of the water that much.

Prayer changes you, not God. It aligns your awareness with God-thought. But, you have to go the extra mile and change all the other thoughts that are negating that prayer inside of you.

What are you saying to yourself? What are speaking aloud to others about yourself?

Now, let’s suppose that I have a tub of water at 70 degrees, and I pour in a lot of 90-degree water. Pretty soon, all the water is going to be 90 degrees. So, the spiritual temperature inside of you will raise towards God-consciousness as you begin, through the power – of your spoken word, (both audibly and silently), to raise your consciousness.

Changing consciousness through prayer involves all levels in your mind.

To be born again is an ongoing activity. It is talking about a rebirth of your spiritual thought structure inside of yourself; how you think and how you speak.

The conscious level of your mind is your field of awareness. You’re aware of many things, right now. As you’re sitting here listening to me, you’re also thinking about what is for lunch. And you’re thinking about many other things. This is your awareness, right now.

We all have multiple thoughts.

Then we have a sub-conscious level of our mind that is everything that is stored up from the past. It is our memory. Your conscious and your sub-conscious combine together to make your field of awareness in consciousness.

There’s another level of mind, too. That is your super-conscious level of mind.

This is that part in you where spiritual inspiration comes.

Let’s say you sit down to write a letter and you don’t know what to say to a friend. All of a sudden the words are coming, and you are writing that letter. You sit down and don’t know how to do something in a business venture. But as you get into it, the ideas are given to you. That’s God working in your life in a very practical way through your mind.

I’ll give you another practical example. I want you to imagine that the screen of your computer can be compared to your conscious level of mind. It allows you to display the data with which you presently work. This data is called up from the memory of the computer.

The memory is like the sub-conscious level of your mind.

And then, connected to your computer is a modem. That is the part of the computer that allows you to connect with any database anywhere in the world, via the Internet. This could be compared to the super-conscious level in your mind that allows you to tap into the all-knowing mind of God.

A minute ago, I gave an illustration that you are a three-fold being. You are Spirit. You are also soul. You are also body.

Your body is your soul expressing. The soul includes the conscious and sub-conscious minds.

Soul makes the body. The body is an outer clothing of the soul. Bodily health is in exact correspondence to the health of your soul.

Now, how do we raise the health of our soul? Well, we program our human computer differently. Through the power of the spoken word, we say yes and no to our thoughts. We say no to negative thinking. And we affirm inspirations saying YES that come from the super-conscious level. The result inside of you is an overall elevation of your entire awareness system.

Saying no – Jesus said, “Let all your words be yes, yes or no, no.” Why did He say that? Because He was talking about God-given power, inside of you, to take control of your own mind. Jesus was giving you the power that has been held secret for the ages.

He was saying, “You can say no to what you don’t want in your life, and it will get out. You will evict it from your mind. You have a God-given power to reject unwanted habits and addictions. And you will say yes to what you do want, and it will become part of your mind and life.”

When we speak, when we decree, we program our inner computer. Thoughts held in mind manifest after their kind in body and in our lives.

Let me make this practical. Here’s a true story. A man in New York always said, “I always miss cabs. The taxi invariably pulls away just as I arrive.” And, of course, he always misses taxis.

His daughter watched this all of her life. Now she says, “I ALWAYS catch taxis. The cab is sure to come just as I get there.” And, of course, she always catches taxis.

Well, are we praying to the “great taxi God?” No. We are becoming more aware. The man who misses taxis totally expects to miss taxis, so he does. He brings it to pass.

What, are you expecting to miss in your life?

Maybe it’s health in your physical body. Maybe your parents had illness and you expect to inherit it. Or maybe your parents were not the success that they always wanted to be, and therefore you believe that you can’t be a success.

How is your mind programmed?

Can you change it?

Yes! You can change it today. No matter what you were yesterday – this is a brand-new day and you make the conscious spiritual choice through the power of your spoken words to take positive action.

Every time you speak, you have a listening audience of a trillion cells in your body and mind.

Have you ever had an old-fashioned chat with a friend?

This “old-fashioned chat” means getting together with a friend and that “old-fashioned chat” would contain about 500-1,000 destructive words. The principle topic would be, “Poor Me” on the part of your friend: loss, lack, failure, and sickness.

Your reply should be, “No thank you. I’ve had enough old-fashioned chats in my life. And they’re too expensive. I would be glad to come over and have a new-fashioned chat with you and talk about what we want; not what we do not want.”

A person can only dare to use his or her words for three purposes: to bless, to heal and to prosper others AND ourselves.

We often leave out ourselves. We can see this for others, but we have to think about ourselves.

There’s an old farmer’s saying: “Curses, like chickens, come home to roost.”

Are you cursing yourself? If so, they’re going to come home. It’s going to be like the boomerang. It’s going to go out from you and it’s going to come back, hitting you.

In the Bible it says, “Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee.” It is the Truth about you, today. This works. And it works in the cathedral of your life, in the temple of your body.

There are invisible forces just on the other side of the veil; forces that we cannot see; forces that directly affect you. These forces are the forces of God the good. And they are just waiting for you to call forth those powers. They will not respond unless you call them forth. Make yourself a vessel of their creation.

I’d like to imagine that all your words came alive. Well, your words do come alive. Our words are King Kong and our body and mind like Fay Wray. The monsters that we are creating with our own words are real, and they only know how to attack us.

Let me close with this story. A man was driving in the country late at night when one of the tires on his car went flat. He had a spare tire, but he didn’t have a jack. It seemed that the only thing to do was to walk back to the nearest farmhouse and borrow a jack. So, he got out of his car and started to walk.

On the walk, he talked to himself. “It’s so late, they’ll all be asleep. They won’t

like a stranger who awakens them. Since they don’t know me, why would they trust me with their jack? Maybe they don’t even have one. Why, out of meanness they’ll probably refuse to let me have their jack.” He rang the doorbell. He had talked himself into such a state that when the door was answered, he shouted, “I don’t want your silly jack anyway!”

I invite you to give every sentence this test – Would a loving God speak this to me?

This week, I invite you to join me in forming a positive words club. I encourage everyone here to commit the only speaking positively to ourselves, to others, and with each other when you come together with friends and family.

A profound difference in the way you feel and the effect that you have on others will start taking place.

I close with Luke 21:15: “For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversities [that are inside of you] shall be able to withstand.”

PRAYER / MEDITATION (place this AFTER lesson for today) __

I pray that you will pray and meditate on these words.

I will speak for you for success. My words become your words:

I now let go of worn-out conditions and worn-out things. God’s perfect Divine order is established in my mind, my body, and the situations of my life. Behold, God makes all things new. My seeming impossible good now comes to pass.

The unexpected good of God now happens. My tide of destiny has turned, and everything comes my way. The winds of success now blow to me and are my own. From North, South, East and West comes my endless good.

The Christ is now risen in my life. I follow God. I now fulfill my destiny. I am awake to my good, and I gather in the harvest of endless opportunities.

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

For prosperity.

I now draw from the abundance of the spheres my immediate and endless supply. All channels are free, and all doors are open in my life. My God is a God of plenty. And I now receive all that I desire or require and more. My ships come in over a calm sea, under grace in perfect ways.

I am fearless in letting money go out, knowing that God is my immediate and endless supply. Unexpected doors fly open. Unexpected channels are free. Endless avalanches of abundance are poured out upon me. Divine ideas are given to me in perfect ways.

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

For happiness.

I have a wonderful joy in a wonderful way. My wonderful joy has come here to stay.

Happy surprises come to me each day.

I look with wonder at that which is before me, and I give thanks for my permanent happiness, my permanent health, my permanent wealth, and my permanent love. I am harmonious, happy and divinely magnetic. I now draw to me my ships over a calm sea.

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

For love.

I love everyone, and everyone loves me. My apparent enemy becomes my friend right now, a golden link in the chain of my good. I am at peace with myself and the whole world. I love everyone, and everyone loves me.

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

For marriage.

I give thanks that the marriage made in heaven is now made manifest upon earth. “The twain shall be made one now and for all eternity.”

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

For health.

I deny fatigue for there is nothing to tire me. I am powered by the tireless God. I live in the kingdom of eternal joy and absorbing interests. My body is the body electric; timeless, tireless, breathless and filled with endless energy and vital wholeness.

I am a spiritual being, and my body is perfect; made in God’s likeness and image. The light of the Christ now streams through every cell. And I give thanks for my radiant health. I am undisturbed by appearances. I trust in God and God now brings to me the desires of my heart.

Rest in the silence of prayer and accept …

Nothing is too good to be true in my life because God is true. And God is with me. Nothing is too wonderful to happen in my life because nothing is too wonderful for God. I am not alone. God is with me. Nothing is too good to last in my life because God is eternal, and God is ever-expanding good in my life.

I wave these prayers over the situations of beliefs in my own mind. It is my magic wand.

Isaiah 55:11 states, “It shall not return unto me void, but shall accomplish that where unto it is sent.”

With the power of the belief in the spoken word, with the power in the belief of the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Truth of God surrounding me, and the Truth of God’s actions going through me, I give thanks. And I believe these statements of Truth about me in total faith, without doubt.

Does some situation before you seem absolutely impossible?

In human mind, we need to insert God’s hyphen within that negative word to change impossible to I’m-possible!

What may be impossible to your human thinking is completely possible to God, RIGHT NOW. God knows the way, when to your human mind, there may seem to be no way. You can meet and overcome everything when you have the invincible power of God working with you.

Have you been told that some condition is incurable and hopeless?

Do not accept this prognosis. You do not give up because you still have God’s help. The life of God is present in every cell of your body, and this life flows through you in a continuous healing stream.

The truth is that God’s healing is always possible and probable.

Have you thought that some door is closed to you? Have you resigned yourself to some limitation simply because “That’s the way it is?” Do not give in to any belief that your God-good can be kept from you. You remind yourself today, that with God, all things are possible, and that the happiness and fulfillment you seek are right now seeking you. You are free to open the door to new life. You let God’s help, help you, through laying hold of the realization that God makes all things possible. This realization can transform your life and your world.

I love to take impossible situations to God. I love to see what God is going to do with insurmountable problems. It has become a very pleasurable activity for me to watch God work. I am always in awe and wonder at how God works out situations in my life and in the lives of those that I pray for, that to human mind, seem impossible.

Feeling one with God, and all that God is, helps us to be in tune with the vast spectrum of endless possibilities of life. To be in tune with the Infinite is to be in tune with God and God’s marvelous creation. It is to be in tune with God’s power and all that is good, perfect and true. It is to be in tune with the creative force that works through our minds making all things possible. It creates, re-creates, invents and builds anew.

You are carried along on currents of faith and joy. Life becomes fun again. You live in a constant state of thankfulness. You experience Divine order in all phases of your life and being — mind, body, soul and the situations in your daily life. Health and wholeness become the order of everyday. Peace becomes the primary feeling in your mind as all confusion and doubt are cast out. With God directing you, success and happiness will takeover in all that you undertake.

If something is impossible in your life, you are leaving out the power of God. God knows the answer; God knows the way; God knows the solution.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

“With God’s all-powerful help and wisdom, NOTHING is impossible to me!
I agree to work with God by casting out hopeless belief and my personal human mind concept that something can be at a dead-end.

I have a clock in the office. This watch adjusts itself to radio signals from the atomic clock located in Fort Collins Colorado. It is supposedly accurate to one second every 20 million years. The clock was on sale for only $21. at Costco.

In the living room of my home, I have a family heirloom grandfather clock that is said to be worth in excess of $8000. It chimes on the hour, every hour, but it is usually off by several minutes every day. Like a human being it gets wound up and uses heavy weights to motivate it’s movement.

As expensive as that clock is, it relies on itself, instead of a higher power. It doesn’t have a choice, BUT WE DO.

We must choose between the wound-up tension of our weight and pressures of daily life, and instead rely on a higher power.

It is so important it is for the human brain to stop many times during the day align and recalibrate itself with God. Like my office clock, we receive the true and accurate signal that aligns our life and our thinking with perfection. It is easy for the human mind to sway from the standard of Christ mind. It is easy for human action and reaction to move away from God’s perfect love.

We all know people that struggled their way through every day, and they are their own worst enemy.

Sleep aligns us with God, we can go to bed at night in a semi-bad mood, and wake up being a whole new person. The last activity of your day before you go to sleep, should be to talk to God, and give your problems over to God for God to handle.

It is so easy for us to recalibrate ourselves to the Jesus Christ method of thinking and become one with God in our awareness. A mind attuned to God can do great things within the genius of creativity of Divine mind.

What a miracle your life is when it is attuned perfectly to God. You have been created in your body temple as a perfect vehicle to travel through a perfect life. With God all things are possible. Every second of every day is God’s time and miracles are continually taking place.

It is reassuring to know that the life of God is with us and within us. God’s life cleanses away all imperfection, strengthens and revitalizes every area and function of our life. The quickening, invigorating life force of God works to restore perfection in our lives. God speedily works wonders, as we realize and affirm; taking the time to go to God in prayer and allowing Divine order to adjust our thinking, feelings and actions.

If today is truly God’s time what is holding you back? Have you been wanting to stop some negative habit or start a positive one, to reconcile with a loved one or begin a new friendship? What is holding you back?

If you need more strength, then call upon the power of God to accomplish whatever it is that will bless you and bless others.

2 Corinthians 6:2 strongly states, “See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation.”

Do you seemingly lack the courage to do what you desire to do – to make a change, or begin something new? Not in God’s time! Never, because as a child of God there is no lack within you. When you begin to believe what is true about you, you feel courage welling up inside of you. This is God’s time and you have the strength and courage of God.

Today is God’s day, it is God’s time.

Now is the time to follow the inspiration of God urging you to live as the strong, wise, and loving person you are capable of being.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me today to see all people through Your vision, which is love. Help me, dear God, to look forward with great positive anticipation. Help me to feel well this day, and lead me in mind to wave after wave of well-being. Help me to see past events as past events, and help me to understand that these events are spent energy. It has come to pass and it has passed.

Dear God, I have a choice not to keep the dead past alive. With You with me, God, the best is yet to be. This morning I face a brighter tomorrow and a brighter future. I face more opportunity for happiness than ever before, and I am so grateful and thankful.

Giving thanks in advance, in Jesus Christ name, I say … Amen.

Everyone has experienced times when it seems difficult to be loving and understanding. But it is possible for you to be at peace with yourself and others, whatever the condition or circumstance.

How? By turning your thoughts to God. God is always at work in your life and in the lives of others to bring forth “right” results at the right time. Your card is to remain steadfast in your faith.

If you are concerned about the outcome of some situation, you need to trust in God, expecting a right solution. God only answers expectations. If you are anxious regarding the welfare of another or disturbed over relationships that you have with others, you can overcome these feelings by knowing that God is at work, blessing you and all people with the spirit of peace, love and understanding. If there is a need for peace and harmony in a human relationship, God will give you the right words to say and the right steps to take in order to establish peace and harmony. God’s spirit of love and harmony will be present with you. God’s Spirit of love and harmony will permeate all conditions and reveal the way to peace and happiness.

Prayer puts you in tune with God’s Spirit of love and harmony. Prayer or opens up your mind to God’s understanding. In prayer, feelings of hurt or anger dissipate, and you will feel love and harmony permeating your being. Love and harmony radiates forth from you to bless every relationship. Peace and harmony are restored as you rely on the Christ spirit to guide you and to give you strength and understanding.

In 1st Samuel 25:6 our Bible states, “Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.”

The attribute that is such an inherent part of you that no person or event can take it away, that is sacred to your soul that only you alone can make the decision to recognize and use it – is inner peace.

Inner peace is the assurance of God’s presence in you and in your world. Inner peace is yours and is active in your soul every moment of the day and night. You can always find that peaceful point of calm in the midst of crisis or that level of Divine understanding you need in a time of great achievement.

Your peace cannot be given to you by others or by circumstances. Peace is the assurance of God’s presence. And always, deep within your soul, peace is waiting to be united with your thoughts and lived in your life.

I pray today that God’s peace covers your life like an umbrella of Divine tranquility.

“And my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”
Isaiah 54:10

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

I become quiet and focused on the Spirit of God.

Life has to begin again for many of us. We move from one area to another, from one work to another, changes in human relations come. But we can be flexible and able to meet change when we are centered and poised in our faith in the goodness of God. We can meet change with God’s comfort instead of human screaming.

Sometimes a person may seem to exhaust strength and energy in their efforts to handle the changes of life. They may think that their major need would be for more strength. However, the major need is to let go and let God work through them. It’s not always easy to do this. To let God takeover is also a change in the way we go about doing things. Some of us feel that we must keep a tight hold on our life, that we must be personally responsible to see that things work out in the right ways.

We do not fear change when we know that we are one with God and God is one with us. Knowing our oneness with God, we have a deep sense of oneness with all of God’s creation. Knowing our oneness with God, nothing can confuse or shake us. We know that we can ask God’s direction, follow God’s guidance, and lean on God’s inspiration and love. In the presence of God we find comfort.

To let go and let God work through us does not mean that we let go of the responsibilities that are ours. It means that we let go of our anxiety over the change, our worry about the change, our feeling that it is up to us alone to meet this change.

We know that God goes ahead of us preparing the way for better good than we have ever known before. We do find strength through letting go and letting God take over. We are strengthened physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through leaning upon God, wisdom and power come to us to meet the change.

As we keep faith in God, every road we walk along will be beautiful and every life we touch will be a blessing to us, as we are to it. Every change that comes will be a change in which we see the good of God and know, without doubt, that God is with us.

We can exhibit this for ourselves and for others.

“Therefore comfort one another.” First Thessalonians 4:18

When we need comfort, familiar passages from the Bible help to uplift us. The 23rd Psalm is one of my favorites, “The Lord is my shepherd … . Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.”

Jesus’ words, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives you I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid,” can bring us solace and give us the peace “which passes all understanding.”

Always there is comfort for us. Always the loving presence of God sustains us and imbues us with courage. Always the power of God upholds us and gives us the courage to walk through the “Valley of the Shadow,” to keep pace in the life of God, which is eternal, to turn again toward the light and life and enter into life with a renewed spirit.

People in every corner of the world, in all walks of life, have times when they need comfort and strength in meeting their own changes.

We may long to be able to say something, or do something, to bring comfort to the ones in need. We have something we can give – our prayers for comfort and strength.

Actually, prayer is the most powerful help we can give.

Prayer is a hand reaching out to uplift and steady the faltering.
Prayer is a lighthouse for the sailor on the stormy sea.
Prayer is love felt as a warm rush of well-being.
Prayer is a way where there seems to be no way.

Yes, as we pray, we comfort others and bless them; and we comfort and bless ourselves.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I know You are with me to comfort and strengthen me. I feel Your loving presence holding me close. I am strengthened and comforted. God, I ask You to help me meet change.

What a holy time this moment is!

This is a moment when you are turning to God, closing your eyes to the outside world and to its cares and concerns.

This is a moment when you turn to the All-powerful Presence of God. And it’s a moment when you spiritually hear. You hear that your problems are not really so big. And you learn how big God really is.

We do not really know God until we know God as love. We may have an intellectual understanding of God. We may have faith in God as Creator. But we don’t know God until we feel love in our hearts and express love in our daily lives. Even when we think, speak and act from our highest understanding, we find that occasions arise which can only be met by the special calling upon the power of Divine love.

When wisdom is there, a problem cannot overpower us. When wisdom to solve a problem in our human self may fail us, love clarifies it and provides the answer. When there is discord and alienation to be overcome, God’s love works to restore understanding and harmony.

Now, during our prayer time, listen to these words from the Holy Bible

(1 Corinthians 13:4-7):

“Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Allow God’s love to become part of your nature, your mind, your body, your awareness. Allow the love of God to flow through you in this time of silent prayer …

(Silence)

Dear God, I pray that I love more. I pray that I walk away from human judgment and that I see with the eyes of love. I pray that I see all men and women in love. With God’s love, I do not judge. With love, I accept others. I pray that I am able to love You more. Dear God, I know that love compensates for every deficiency in my life. And it removes all barriers to complete and happy living. If I take offense or if I give offense, love erases the wrong and transmutes the experience into something good. If our spirits are down, Divine love is mighty to uplift us.

I pray this hour that love is the wonder working power of God in my life.

I pray that it will take the least desirable things in my life and transform them into objects to be supremely desired. An environment ever so unpleasing – can be transformed as love puts God’s enhancements into unhappy conditions. Joy and peace come in to refashion along me lines of harmony and grace.

Many of us have problems at the workplace. I pray that God’s love comes in. I pray that unhappy conditions in our homes are transmuted this hour into joy and peace. I pray that God manifests as love in many forms and in many ways in every area of your life. I pray that unselfishness is part of my being from this moment on. I pray that I give of self-more. And I pray that I fulfill the law which never fails, which casts out fear, which gives peace of absolute union with God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

I pray that we know God as unconditional, perfect love. I pray that we may experience the joy of rebirth in God’s love. And I pray that we yield ourselves to its wonderworking power and direct its creative energy towards all that needs to be adjusted, removed, harmonized, or healed in our lives this day.

Prepare yourself, now, for this to occur in the silence of prayer …

In Jesus Christ’s name I decree that you live in God and God lives with you. I pray that your heart overflows with an understanding love and your life is filled with harmony. And I pray that you make that triumphant entry into a new level of Thinking, into a new awareness, into a new life.

In the nature of Jesus Christ, we pray, and we act …

Internal Revenue Service Letter

Here is one person’s answer to Tax Frustration. It is supposedly a real letter submitted to the IRS in the midst of a former year’s weird and bizarre denial of dependents, exemptions and credits. The letter speaks for itself.

Dear Sirs:

I am responding to your letter denying the deduction for two of the three dependents I claimed on my Federal Tax return.

Thank you. I have questioned whether or not these are my children for years. They are evil and expensive. It’s only fair that, since they are minors and no longer my responsibility, the government should know something about them and what to expect over the next year.

Please do not try to reassign them back to me next year and reinstate the deductions.

They are yours!

The oldest, Kristen, is now 17. She is brilliant. Ask her!

I suggest you put her to work in your office where she can answer people’s questions about their returns.

While she has no formal training, it has not seemed to hamper her mastery of any subject you can name.

Taxes should be a breeze.

Next year she is going to college. I think it’s wonderful that you will now be responsible for that little expense. While you mull that over, keep in mind that she has a truck. It doesn’t run at the moment, so you have the choice of appropriating some Department of Defense funds to fix the vehicle or getting up early to drive her to school.

Kristen also has a boyfriend. Oh joy! While she possesses all of the wisdom of the universe, her alleged mother and I have felt it best to teach her the virtues of abstinence.

This is always uncomfortable, and I am quite relieved you will be handling this in the future. May I suggest that you reinstate Dr. Jocelyn Elders who had a rather good handle on the problem.

Patrick is 14. I’ve had my suspicions about this one. His eyes are a little closer together than those of normal people. He may be a tax examiner himself one day if he is not incarcerated first.

In February, I was awakened at three in the morning by a police officer who was bringing Pat home.

He and his friends were toilet papering houses. In the future, would you like him delivered to the local IRS office or to Washington DC?

This is the house of testosterone, and it will be much more peaceful when he lives in your home.

DO NOT leave him or his friends unsupervised with girls, explosives, inflammables, inflatables, vehicles, or telephones.

(They find telephones a source of unimaginable amusement. Be sure to lock out the 900 and 976 numbers!)

Heather is an alien. She slid through a time warp and appeared as if by magic one year. I’m sure this one is yours.

She is 10 going on 21. She came from a bad trip in the sixties. She wears tie-dyed clothes, beads, sandals, and hair that looks like Tiny Tim’s. Fortunately, you will be raising my taxes to help offset the pinch of her remedial reading courses. “Hooked On Phonics” is expensive, so the school has dropped it.

But here’s the good news! You can buy it yourself for half the amount of the deduction that you are denying me!

It’s quite obvious that we were terrible parents (ask the other two).

She cannot speak English. Most people under twenty understand the curious patois she fashioned out of valley girls/boys in the hood/reggae/yuppie/political double speak.

The school sends her to a speech pathologist who has her roll her r’s. It added a refreshing Mexican/Irish touch to her voice. She wears hats backwards, baggy pants, and wants one of her ears pierced four more times.

There is a fascination with tattoos that worries me, but I am sure that you can handle it.

Bring a truck when you come to get her, she sort of “nests” in her room, and I think that it would be easier to move the entire thing than find out what it is really made of.

You denied two of the three exemptions, so it is only fair that you get to pick which two you will take.

I prefer that you take the youngest two; I will still go bankrupt with Kristen’s college, but then I am free!

If you take the two oldest, then I still have time for counseling before Heather becomes a teenager.

If you take the two girls, then I won’t feel so bad about putting Patrick in a military academy.

Please let me know of your decision as soon as possible, as I have already increased the withholding on my W-4 to cover the $395 in additional tax and made a down payment on an airplane.
