Positive Daily Inspiration - June 6, 2022 - YOU CAN HAVE NEW LIFE

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”
Psalms 23:6

“Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.” – Zig Zigler

Can you imagine how stagnant your life would become if changes did not occur in your life? Actually, changes are occurring all the time in your life, your body, and your daily affairs. Although you may not be aware of them, changes are still happening. For instance, the cells in your body are continually changing and renewing. Changes are part of the flow of life, and you can recognize them as such.

Whatever changes are occurring in your life, you do not need to be fearful. God is always with you, even in the midst of change. Please remember that life is constantly changing and that your part is to be open and receptive to the flow of God’s good in your life. Jesus would not want you to have a stagnant life. You can welcome change and recognize that it is an opportunity to participate in the dynamic flow of life. Changes are part of life.

Today you let go of any mistakes and regrets about the past. You are not bound to unhappy experiences, for the spirit of God with you in this moment is greater than any challenge or obstacle.

As you let go of regrets today, you accept the all-embracing love and forgiveness of God. You take a new hold on life, for you are confident that the spirit of God is working in you, for you, and through you. You accept change because you are alert to the countless opportunities and blessings that life holds for you today.

The following Scripture is a reminder that you are committed to the goal of letting go of the past and accepting new God good. “One thing I do, forgetting what lies behind … I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

You let go of all lingering thoughts of past unhappiness. From deep within you today comes the assurance that you are a spiritual being, important to God and to God’s world.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me to let go of things in the past that I need to let go of.
May the pain of past regret no longer sting me.
May I press on, empowered by Your power.
May my goal be the upward call of the journey of my daily walk with You.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: Today, God gives me the courage and stamina to move forward to meet my new good!

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “Whenever you see a successful person you only see the public glories, never the private sacrifices to reach them.”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

I DO NOT FEAR

I do not fear. I believe!

I never want to overlook a solution because I am caught up in the problem itself. So I make it a point to allow my belief in the power and the presence of God to be my focus.

I do not fear. I believe!

There is a light in the world that outshines any light made by human hands and radiates with an energy far greater than the sun. This tremendous light is the presence of God.

I do not fear. I believe!

The spark of faith that is with me and in me now draws my attention to the source of being – the Spirit of life and wisdom given as a gift of God to God’s children. In much the same way as oxygen is necessary to keep a fire burning, my awareness is essential to keep me always turned toward the light of God, instead of the darkness of my problem.

I do not fear. I believe!

When faced with the problem, I ask yourself: I wonder what God will do with this? Through the years, I rely more and more on God’s solutions – for they are always perfect!

I do not fear. I believe!

The light of God fills my being, burning brighter and brighter until I can never be separated from it. I find that I no longer have dark and hopeless thoughts. I am one with the eternal light of God.

I do not fear. I believe!

The darkness of doubt is gone forever, for a spark of faith has filled me with the light of God.

And so, it is. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: The living Christ quickens my mind and heart. I know that Divine love radiating through me attracts only good into my life.

Positive Daily Inspiration – June 4, 2022 – LISTEN INTENTLY FOR GOOD JUDGMENT

Positive Daily Inspiration - June 4, 2022 - LISTEN INTENTLY FOR GOOD JUDGMENT

“Give ear and hear MY voice.”
Isaiah 28:23

Listen for God, then listen to God.

You have known people whose problems stemmed mainly from their lack of good judgment. In 1st Corinthians 2:16, our Bible states, “We have the Mind of Christ.” Because all of us have the Mind of Christ in us, we have the capacity for wisdom and good judgment. But this capacity needs to be invoked and expressed.

Pray, today, aloud, “I express the positive power of the Christ Mind in wisdom, love, and good judgment.”

Today stay in tune with the Christ Mind.

If you are in doubt about some matter, if you are undecided as to whether some course of action is the right one, open yourself to the Christ direction. Christ will inspire you to use good judgment. Christ will give you the wisdom to refrain from needless or unthinking action or reaction. As you express the positive power of the Christ Mind, you’ll find it easy to follow a course of action that leads to happy results, and contributes to your good and to the good of those around you.

In any set of circumstances, in any situation, there is always a way which is the easiest, most direct way to take. By turning to God for inspiration and guidance, you will discover the correct course of action.

When you have a decision to make, you quiet your mind and heart and seek God. You listen within yourself for the still, small voice of inspiration, knowing that God’s way will be perfect and right.

No ignorance, doubt, or misunderstanding can withstand the clear shining light of God’s Truth. You let go of fear, anxiety, and concern that would block God’s clear voice of guidance in you. You let God inspire you to greater achievement, and higher ideals. God gives you clear understanding and right decision-making power. You are guided by God to follow the course that is right and wise, rather than the course which may merely seem expedient.

You are always led aright through God’s inspiration.

You have judgments to make daily. Prayer helps you to find the exact solutions to problems and to take the steps needed to bring forth perfect solutions. Prayer helps you to have an open mind so that you can see all sides of a situation in wisdom. Prayer inspires words and actions that enable you to take an active, creative part in helping to establish good judgment in your daily life. You are one with God and in that oneness you are guided, directed, sustained, and given wisdom.

“The steps of the human are from the Lord.” Psalms 37:23

In the silence of prayer, you gain the inspiration of the Almighty. You listen and you hear, and your way is clear.

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: “Today, I listen for the positive power of the Christ Mind in wisdom, love, and good judgment.”

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: ‘To be who you are and become what you are capable of is the only goal worth living.” Alvin Ailey

Positive Daily Inspiration – June 3, 2022 – TRY TO NOT WASTE TIME

Positive Daily Inspiration - June 3, 2022 - TRY TO NOT WASTE TIME

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14

A young child is explaining to her family how well she is doing as she learns to tell time: “I know my “o’clocks” now, but I’m still having trouble with my “tills” and my “afters.”

A Pennsylvania consulting firm has released one of those studies examining the amount of time the average American will spend doing various things over the course of a lifetime. The research took more than a year. The results were not encouraging.

Consider:

Time spent opening junk mail: eight months

Time spent sitting at stoplights: six months

Time spent searching for misplaced objects: one year (personal note: I believe I have spent much more time than this looking for things that I misplaced)

Time spent trying to return phone calls to people who never seem to be in: two years

Time spent doing housework: four years

Time spent standing in line: five years

So, what do you do about all this wasted time? The answer is obvious. Combine human time wasters with prayer. Every time you open junk mail think about God instead. Every time you sit at a traffic light, pray to God. Every time you misplace an object, look less, pray more and you will find what you’re looking for in a fraction of the normal time. Every time you try to return phone calls to people who never seem to be in, pray for them instead and send them a spiritual blessing. When you do housework, think about God’s Divine order. When you stand in line, pray constantly.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is NOT the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.”

I believe that every hour is the critical, decisive hour. Do not put off till tomorrow your happiness and contentment. Jesus said to pray constantly. I agree because it keeps us focused on God and God’s help that is always with us.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I am placing my life in Your care and trusting Your wisdom to guide and inspire me. My utmost trust is in You. I follow Your guidance because I know that Your wisdom is grounded in unconditional love for me and for all humankind.

Whether my decisions that I have to make today are large or small, I listen to You. When I follow Your guidance, I am ensuring that what happens to me is in my best interest and the best interests of those that I love.

Dear God, Your wisdom and understanding far surpasses my own, so I rely on You, now, and every moment of this day. I am so very grateful for Your loving presence, and I give thanks that we are one in spirit.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: “Today is the best day of my life, and therefore, I will not waste a moment of it.”

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “The 2 most important days of your life are the day you were born, and the day you found out why.”
Mark Twain

Positive Daily Inspiration – June 2, 2022 – God Works for Good

Positive Daily Inspiration - June 2, 2022 - God Works for Good

“We know that in everything God works for good.”

Some of the most powerful prayers and our life do not have to be long; actually, some of the best are quite simple. Today I want to teach you a two-word prayer for you to remember for the rest of your life. When you decree it – it changes your situation, your day, and beyond. It takes over in ways that your human mind cannot even grasp.

Here is that powerful two-word prayer:

Divine Order!

When you say it, you are consenting in your free will for God to take over.

Divine order is an underlying principle of the universe; Divine order is a law of God. Knowing that Divine order sustains and permeates everything, you cooperate with this law to make it visible in your daily life.

You acknowledge God’s law of order in every circumstance. Even when things seem out of order, you still know that God’s law of order is present. Through awareness of God in prayer, you put yourself in tune with God’s Divine order.

With God’s help, you organize your thinking and maintain a positive optimistic outlook. You put first things first and banish all procrastination. Thought by thought, action by action, you establish Divine order in everything that concerns you.

As you put things into proper perspective, you realize the importance of your positive thoughts and feelings in bringing Divine order to the forefront of your life. You know that you are in Divine order and all things are working for good.

As you declare Divine order in your life, every atom of your being leaps to attention. It has been said that order is heaven’s first law. Divine order is that which brings harmony out of chaos.

As you declare Divine order, your life becomes efficient and effective. The good that has been ordained for you since the beginning of time rushes to meet you, often by ways that before were unknown.

As you declare Divine order, your relationships become more loving and more peaceful. Contention, discord, and criticism become attention, accord and praise. You lift up your eyes, and life and love abound.

You speak the word in prayer of “Divine Order,” and you are healed within and without. Life becomes a symphony beautifully played.

Today you follow Jesus by acknowledging your oneness with God, the source of order.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I ask for Your order to take the lead.
Through Your guidance I find my correct path.
I ask for Your perfection to take precedence over my chaotic ways.
I consent to Your best good filling and overflowing my least good; changing me at depth.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

Positive Daily Inspiration – June 1, 2022 – LET THEM HEAR

Positive Daily Inspiration - June 1, 2022 - LET THEM HEAR

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Matthew 11:15

As I look back over my first 70 years, I wish that I had talked less and listened more. Yes, I wish that I had listened to humans more, but mostly I wish that I had listened to God more for God’s perfect direction and guidance.

There is a good reason why we have two ears and only one mouth.

“The quieter you become – the more you hear!” Christopher Ian Chenoweth

A telephone operator said, “Long distance calling, Mr. Jim Allen.”

“Hello, Jim,” said an anxious voice, “This is your old pal, Andy. Listen, Jim. I’m having some difficulty and need $100.”

“I can’t hear you,” said Jim. “Something must be wrong with the phone.”

“I need $100,” Andy shouted louder.

“I still can’t hear you,” Jim said again.

Just then the operator interrupted. “I can hear him,” she said.

“Fine,” Jim responded, “Then you lend him the hundred dollars!”

There is a story about a church that was having revival services. The pastor and the guest evangelist were out visiting in the community. As they entered one home, the lady of the house invited them in, asked them to be seated and said, “I will go put on the percolator.”

The evangelist quickly replied, “What you have on is fine.”

If we let our imagination go, we can “see” that Jesus must have said to people over and over and over and over: “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” The reason that things appear to be repetitious in the Bible is that Jesus had to tell us what he was going to say, then say it, and then tell us again by repeating the example several times.

Someone once made an arresting observation that nature has not equipped humankind with earlids. But we compensate for nature’s oversight by developing selective listening.

I used to teach ministerial students that when they were speaking a sermon, even if the congregation is intently listening. they will only hear every third word overall. If they’re not intently listening, it goes down from there to about every seventh word.

I would often have people come to me after church and say that when I said something it changed their life. I would often ask them what I said, and they would repeat something back to me that was not in my sermon at all. It never mattered to me, as long as it helped them. Of course, the reverse is true too; people would often hear things that would disturb them that I didn’t say it all.

The word “absurd” comes from the Latin ab.-surdus meaning “absolutely deaf.” To fail to listen is to become absurd. On the other hand, obedience is from a Latin root, obaudiens, which means “to listen thoroughly.”

I once met a minister who put on his counseling business card, his name, and under his name, the word: listener. I always thought that he was well-qualified as a minister.

If you want to become loved in life by most, become a good listener.

One thing I have come to look upon as almost universal is that when a person has been deeply heard, there is some moistness in his or her eyes. It’s as though they were saying, “Thank God, somebody heard me. Somebody knows what it’s like to be me.” In such moments, I have had the fantasy of a prisoner in a dungeon, tapping out day after day a Morse code message, “Does anybody hear me? Is anybody there?” Finally, one day he hears a faint tapping which spells out “Yes.” And he is released from loneliness and has become a human being again.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I thank You for being with me at all times. Hold me close today, this moment, tomorrow, and in the days to come, loving Presence of God.

Be with me through the night hours and be with me through the day.
Hold Thou my hand.
Guide Thou my feet.
Comfort Thou my heart.
I trust my future in Your care.

In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: I Listen More. I hear what others are saying, and I care.

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do.”
John Wooden

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 31, 2022 – Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 31, 2022 - Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“Hence we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper.'”
Hebrews 13:6

What a joy to know that God is here with me RIGHT NOW. I ask you now to direct your prayers upward – not to the skies, but up into God awareness.

We are here during this prayer time to drop all our thoughts of conditions, personal desires, and personalities. We are here to center our attention in God, to think of God only, and to give thanks that God is expressing and manifesting everywhere in God’s world.

During this prayer, we speedily dissolve the old error beliefs and their counterparts in our life. During this prayer, we give everything the light and easy touch. We stop trying so hard to know that everything is as it should be. We just rest our minds, our hearts, our emotions, and our bodies in God Mind.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

When you are truly thinking only of God, you cannot struggle to do anything. It’s only when we are thinking of ourselves that we struggle and see darkness, grief, and failure.

So now we turn and think of God only.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Many of our problems are in our minds because we have made them. So now, during this prayer, we begin a Divine project. We withdraw our thoughts and feelings from the things we have invited and have built up. We call forth the power of God and rest in that thought. We watch negation fall flat and dissolve.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

You abide in God. You abide in perfect order and satisfaction. There is a new life coming and coming through your God inspired actions. It is a world of peace, joy, wholeness, and success according to the direction of Christ ideals.

Dear God, I know that the solution to every problem is within Your mind. I know that others outside of myself may not be able to correctly guide me. It is only when I consecrate myself to you, and seek earnestly, persistently, and patiently to do Your will that I find real peace, strength, freedom, and wisdom.

God is our present help in this moment.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Dear God, this moment, this day, this week, we turn to You and we turn away from human reasoning, longing, and fears. You will show us the way and lead us to the fullness of Your good.

I lift my consciousness above the things of the material world, personality, and human limitation. I unfold Christ consciousness. Instead of letting my mind dwell upon problems, I allow my mind to dwell on possibilities.

I give thanks for this spiritual reasoning that is coming through my reasoning, this power that is coming through as my power! I pray for the gift of peace of mind, and that you know that God is my help in every need.

In Jesus Christ’s name we pray … Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: Attuned to the divine harmony within, I am in tune with the harmony of God in all.

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 30, 2022 – MEMORIAL DAY (United States)

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 30, 2022 - MEMORIAL DAY (United States)

“Lo, I am with you always.”
Matthew 28:20

Television channels (ALL NEW – BELOW):

A Story of Six Boys (Submitted)

Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth-grade class from Clinton, WI where I grew up, to video their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting our Nation’s Capital, and each year I take some special memories back with me. One spring trip was especially memorable.

On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the most famous photographs in history — that of the six brave soldiers raising the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan, during WW II.

Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue, and as I got closer he asked, “Where are you guys from?”

I told him that we were from Wisconsin “Hey, I’m a cheese head, too! Come gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story.”

(James Bradley just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his dad, who has since passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the buses pull up. I videoed him as he spoke to us, and received his permission to share what he said from my video. It is one thing to tour the incredible Monuments filled with history in Washington, D.C., but it is quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.)

When all had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that night.)

“My name is James Bradley and I’m from Antigo, Wisconsin. My dad is on that statue, and I just wrote a book called “Flags of Our Fathers”. It is the story of the six boys you see behind me. “Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off to play another type of game. A game called ‘War.’ But it didn’t turn out to be a game.

“Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don’t say that to gross you out, I say that because there are generals who stand in front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old.

(He pointed to the statue) “You see this next guy? That’s Rene Gagnon from New Hampshire. If you took Rene’s helmet off at the moment this photo was taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a photograph … a photograph of his girlfriend. Rene put that in there for protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. Boys won the battle of Iwo Jima. Boys. Not old men.

“The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank. Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the ‘old man’ because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his boys in training camp, he didn’t say, ‘Let’s go kill some Japanese’ or ‘Let’s die for our country.’ He knew he was talking to little boys. Instead, he would say, ‘You do what I say, and I’ll get you home to your mothers.’

“The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from Arizona. Ira Hayes walked off Iwo Jima. He went into the White House with my dad. President Truman told him, ‘You’re a hero.’ He told reporters, ‘How can I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27 of us walked off alive?’ So you take your class at school, 250 of you spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250 of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes died dead drunk, face down at the age of 32, ten years after this picture was taken.

“The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop, Kentucky. A fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told me, ‘Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn’t get down. Then we fed them Epsom salts. Yes, he was a fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother’s farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning. The neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.

“The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John Bradley from Antigo, Wisconsin, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994, but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite’s producers or the New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say, ‘No, I’m sorry, sir, my dad’s not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no phone there, sir. No, we don’t know when he is coming back.’ My dad never fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the table eating his Campbell’s soup. But we had to tell the press that he was out fishing. He didn’t want to talk to the press.

“You see, my dad didn’t see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys are heroes, ’cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a caregiver. In Iwo Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died in Iwo Jima, they writhed and screamed in pain.

“When I was a little boy, my third-grade teacher told me that my dad was a hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, ‘I want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did not come back. Did NOT come back.’

“So that’s the story about six nice young boys. Three died on Iwo Jima, and three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out, so I will end here. Thank you for your time.”

Suddenly, the monument wasn’t just a big old piece of metal with a flag sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.

On this Memorial Day, let us never forget from the Revolutionary War to the current wars, the in-between that sacrifice was made for our freedom. Remember to pray praises for this great country of ours and also pray for those still in unrest around the world. Thank God for being alive and being free at someone else’s sacrifice. Every day that you can wake up free, it’s going to be a great day. You are free because some vet served to keep you free.

“I will put my trust in God.”
Hebrews 2:13

A man decides to try horseback riding, even though he has had no lessons or prior experience. He mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion.

It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the man begins to slip from the saddle. In a panic, he grabs for the horse’s mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. He tries to throw his arms around the horse’s neck, but he slides down the side of the horse, anyway.

The horse gallops along, seemingly ignorant of its slipping rider. Finally, giving up his tenuous grip, the man attempts to leap away from the horse and throw himself to safety.

Unfortunately, his foot becomes entangled in the stirrup, and he is now at the mercy of the horse’s pounding hooves as his head is struck against the ground, over and over.

As his head is battered against the ground, he is mere moments away from unconsciousness when, to his great fortune, Bobby, the Wal-Mart greeter, sees him and quickly unplugs the horse.

Thank God for heroes.

It was a bitter cold day in a western city. A small boy stood shivering on a steel grate in the sidewalk. His clothes were thin and tattered. A woman, appropriately dressed for the weather, stopped, and engaged the youngster in conversation. He was indeed a child of the street. The compassionate stranger took him to a clothing store and outfitted him from head to foot, including cap, scarf, and gloves. The lad was filled with joy and gratitude. He could not thank her enough. As they said good-bye and walked in opposite directions, the elated boy turned back to ask, “Are you God’s mother?”

The gentle woman answered, “Oh no! I’m just a child of God.”

Whereupon the smiling lad remarked, “I knew you were related.”

A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran, she prayed, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late! Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late!” As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off and started running again. As she ran, she once again began to pray, “Dear Lord please don’t let me be late! … But don’t shove me either.”

One night Mike’s parents overheard this prayer: “Now I lay me down to rest, and hope to pass tomorrow’s test. If I should die before I wake, that’s one less test I have to take.”

A little boy’s prayer: “Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and me. Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we’re gonna be in a big mess.”

A five-year-old said grace at family dinner one night. “Dear God, thank you for these pancakes.” When he concluded, his parents asked him why he thanked God for pancakes when they were having chicken. He smiled and said, “I thought I’d see if God was paying attention tonight.”

Johnny had been misbehaving and was sent to his room. After a while he emerged and informed his mother that he had thought it over and then said a prayer. “Fine”, said the pleased mother. “If you ask God to help you not misbehave, God will help you.”

“Oh, I didn’t ask God to help me not misbehave,” said Johnny, “I asked God to help you put up with me.”

A Sunday School teacher of preschoolers was concerned that his students might be a little confused about Jesus Christ because of the Christmas season emphasis on His birth. He wanted to make sure they understood that the birth of Jesus occurred for real. He asked his class, “Where is Jesus today?”

Steven raised his hand and said, “He’s in heaven.”

Mary was called on and answered, “He’s in my heart.”

Little Johnny, waving his hand furiously, blurted out, “I know, I know! He’s in our bathroom!!!”

The whole class got very quiet, looked at the teacher, and waited for a response. The teacher was completely at a loss for a few very long seconds. Finally, he gathered his wits and asked Little Johnny how he knew this. Little Johnny said, “Well … every morning, my father gets up, bangs on the bathroom door, and yells, ‘Good Lord, are you still in there?!'”

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 28, 2022 - SATURDAY INSPIRATION

(Submitted with our thanks)

“Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”
1 Peter 3:8

This gentleman in his own words said, on March 22nd, “I was en-route to Washington, DC for a business trip.

“It was all so very ordinary, until we landed in Denver for a plane change. As I collected my belongings from the overhead bin, an announcement was made for Mr. Lloyd Glenn to see the United Customer Service Representative immediately.

“I thought nothing of it until I reached the door to leave the plane, and heard a gentleman asking every male if they were Mr. Glenn. At this point I knew something was wrong and my heart sank.

“When I got off the plane, a solemn-faced young man came toward me and said, ‘Mr. Glenn, there is an emergency at your home. I do not know what the emergency is, or who is involved, but I will take you to the phone so you can call the hospital.’

“My heart was pounding, but the will to be calm took over. Woodenly, I followed this stranger to the distant telephone where I called the number he gave me for the Mission Hospital.

“My call was put through to the trauma center where I learned that my three-year-old son had been trapped underneath the automatic garage door for several minutes, and that when my wife had found him, he was dead.

“CPR had been performed by a neighbor, who is a doctor, and the paramedics had continued the treatment as Brian was transported to the hospital. By the time of my call, Brian was revived, and they believed he would live, but they did not know how much damage had been done to his brain, nor to his heart. They explained that the door had completely closed on his little sternum right over his heart. He had been severely crushed.

“After speaking with the medical staff, my wife sounded worried but not hysterical, and I took comfort in her calmness.

“The return flight seemed to last forever, but finally I arrived at the hospital six hours after the garage door had come down. When I walked into the intensive care unit, nothing could have prepared me to see my little son lying so still on a great big bed with tubes and monitors everywhere.

“He was on a respirator. I glanced at my wife who stood and tried to give me a reassuring smile. It all seemed like a terrible dream. I was filled-in with the details and given a guarded prognosis.

“Brian was going to live, and the preliminary tests indicated that his heart was OK, two miracles in and of themselves, but only time would tell if his brain received any damage.

“Throughout the seemingly endless hours, my wife was calm. She felt that Brian would eventually be all right. I hung on to her words and faith like a lifeline. All that night and the next day Brian remained unconscious. It seemed like forever since I had left for my business trip the day before.

“Finally at two o’clock that afternoon, our son regained consciousness and sat up uttering the most beautiful words I have ever heard spoken. He said, ‘Daddy, hold me,’ and he reached for me with his little arms.

“By the next day he was pronounced as having no neurological or physical deficits, and the story of his miraculous survival spread throughout the hospital. You cannot imagine the wonder and awe!

“We took Brian home; we felt a unique reverence for the life and love of our God that comes to those who brush death so closely. In the days that followed there was a special spirit about our home. Our two older children were much closer to their little brother. My wife and I were much closer to each other, and all of us were very close as a whole family. Life took on a less stressful pace. Perspective seemed to be more focused, and balance much easier to gain and maintain. We felt deeply blessed. Our gratitude was truly profound.

“The story is not over. Almost a month later to the day of the accident, Brian awoke from his afternoon nap and said, ‘Sit down Mommy. I have something to tell you.’

“At this time in his life, Brian usually spoke in small phrases, so to say a large sentence surprised my wife. She sat down with him on his bed, and he began his sacred and remarkable story.

“’Do you remember when I got stuck under the garage door? Well, it was so heavy and it hurt really bad. I called to you, but you couldn’t hear me. I started to cry, but then it hurt too bad. And then the ‘birdies’ came.’

“’The birdies?’ my wife asked puzzled.

“’Yes,’ he replied. ‘The birdies made a whooshing sound and flew into the garage. They took care of me.’

“’They did?’

“’Yes,’ he said. ‘One of the birdies came and got you. She came to tell you I got stuck under the door.’

“A sweet reverent feeling filled the room. The Spirit was so strong and yet lighter than air. My wife realized that a three-year-old had no concept of death and spirits, so he was referring to the beings who came to him from beyond as ‘birdies’ because they were up in the air like birds that fly.

“’What did the birdies look like?’ she asked.

“Brian answered, ‘They were so beautiful. They were dressed in white, all white. Some of them had green and white. But some of them had on just white.’

“’Did they say anything?’

“’Yes,’ he answered. ‘They told me the baby would be all right.’

“’The baby?’ my wife asked confused.

“Brian answered. ‘The baby lying on the garage floor.’ He went on, ‘You came out and opened the garage door and ran to the baby. You told the baby to stay and not leave.’

“My wife nearly collapsed upon hearing this, for she had indeed gone and knelt beside Brian’s body and seeing his crushed chest whispered, ‘Don’t leave us Brian, please stay if you can.’

“As she listened to Brian telling her the words she had spoken, she realized that the spirit had left his body and was looking down from above on this little lifeless form.

“’Then what happened?’ she asked.

“’We went on a trip,’ he said. ‘Far, far away.’ He grew agitated trying to say the things he didn’t seem to have the words for.

“My wife tried to calm and comfort him and let him know it would be okay. He struggled with wanting to tell something that obviously was very important to him, but finding the words was difficult.

“’We flew so fast up in the air. They’re so pretty Mommy,’ he added. ‘And there are lots and lots of birdies.’

“My wife was stunned. Into her mind the sweet comforting spirit enveloped her more soundly, but with an urgency she had never before known. Brian went on to tell her that the ‘birdies’ had told him that he had to come back and tell everyone about the ‘birdies.’ He said they brought him back to the house and that a big fire truck and an ambulance were there. A man was bringing the baby out on a white bed and he tried to tell the man that the baby would be okay, but the man couldn’t hear him. He said the birdies told him he had to go with the ambulance, but they would be near him. He said they were so pretty and so peaceful, and he didn’t want to come back. Then the bright light came.

“He said that the light was so bright and so warm, and he loved the bright light so much. Someone was in the bright light and put their arms around him, and told him, ‘I love you, but you have to go back. You have to play baseball, and tell everyone about the birdies.’ Then the person in the bright light kissed him bye-bye. Then whoosh, the big sound came and they went into the clouds.

“The story went on for an hour. He taught us that ‘birdies’ were always with us, but we don’t see them because we look with our eyes, and we don’t hear them because we listen with our ears. But they are always there, you can only see them in here (he put his hand over his heart). They whisper the things to help us to do what is right because they love us so much.

“Brian continued, stating, ‘I have a plan, Mommy. You have a plan. Daddy has a plan. Everyone has a plan. We must all live our plan and keep our promises. The birdies help us to do that because they love us so much.’

“In the weeks that followed, he often came to us and told all, or part of it, again and again. Always the story remained the same. The details were never changed or out of order. A few times he added further bits of information and clarified the message he had already delivered. It never ceased to amaze us how he could tell such detail and speak beyond his ability when he talked about his birdies. Everywhere he went, he told strangers about the ‘birdies.’ Surprisingly, no one ever looked at him strangely when he did this. Rather, they always got a softened look on their face and smiled.

“Needless to say, we have not been the same ever since that day, and I pray we never will.”
