The problem with today’s world is that people relate more to their computers, televisions, and video games than they do with each other.

One of the greatest gifts that you can give to another person is to really listen and pay attention to them. Today, you agree to be quick to hear and slow to speak. Today, you agree not to judge what you’re hearing and be to slow to anger.

Today, you give the gift of positive attention.

Proverbs 19:17 One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And God will repay him for his good deed.

Your words have a greater effect on people than you realize. At times, you may be so involved with your own life that you speak without considering the feelings of others. Whenever you realize that this is happening, you work at improving your communication. Relationships are defined by how we relate.

You listen first and speak second.

Developing a caring attitude always begins with listening. When you listen to others, you pay attention to what they are saying. You listen deeply, also being alert to the feelings behind their words. If you “hear” loneliness or pain, you offer words of support and encouragement.

You ask God to guide your words and actions.

In Matthew 25:40 Jesus says, “I can guarantee this truth: Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters, no matter how unimportant [they seemed], you did for Me.”

Caring is a habit. The more you view your relationships with a caring attitude, the more compassion and understanding are made manifest in you.

Caring drastically improves your world. So many people go through life just focused on themselves. This causes depression and emptiness. When you agree to expand your consciousness to an active practice of caring for others daily, you’ll find that your whole world changes for the better.

God needs your help to care for God’s children.

Matthew 10:42 “And whoever in the name (nature) of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

You will find that what you give of yourself – you receive back much more in return!

Practice and Refine

and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ “
Zechariah 13:9

When we were children, we had fire drills at school. We would practice what we would do if the worst happened. Perhaps, as you have worked for various companies, you were taught emergency procedures if disaster struck.

What about personal emergency procedures?

I am suggesting, today, that each one of us has a rehearsed chain of events that can positively affect the outcome of any tough situation that we may face in our future. When something is not going the way that we wished that it would, if you have a rehearsed emergency procedure, you automatically fall in line with what you have decided upon ahead of time.

If you do not have a procedure in place, the human mind and body tend to go into action in a most frantic way, running here and there, but not accomplishing any good thing. Like a hamster on a wheel, racing faster and faster, but not getting anywhere.

When an emergency happens, you do not want to exhaust yourself, but rather to draw on the energy of God, and a rehearsed human plan of action based on spiritual principles not panic.

One man, who was involved in an auto accident, writes that he knew exactly what to do to stay calm and collected. He had rehearsed what he would do, ahead of time, if something did not go right. Even though he did not know the emergency ahead of time, he was able to rehearse the response. He decided on a 1, 2, 3, 4 approach to any emergency.

One, he would remember to breathe, calming himself by taking deep breaths. Second, he would relax and think about God. Third, he would pray, focusing positively ONLY on the best possible outcome, and begin to look for the good instead of focusing on that which was wrong. Fourth, he started to give thanks in the situation focusing on what was still right.

Even though the car was wrecked, he was safe and not harmed. Even though the car was wrecked, no one else was harmed. Even though the car was wrecked, he had good insurance. Even though the car was wrecked, he knew that everything under God’s perfect Divine order would prevail.

He said that in the past, an incident like this would have made him sick, and he would not have been able to sleep because of worry. He would have lost days to worry and fear. He said that he felt alive in the situation and better able to help all those around him. He was able to make a difference because God first made a difference in him. He had a discovered a strength that was greater than his own. His energy was high when he talked to his insurance company, he was able to focus, and communicate effectively – he ended up getting a better settlement than he could have ever dreamed of at the first moments of the accident. It helped him to get into a new car that he said that he needed for the long drives that his job demanded.

His old car had a bad heater, he thanks God every time that he drives his new car and feels so warm and comfortable.

Sometimes things just happen. When they happen, we must deal with them.

We need to become initiative-taking, spiritual people instead of reactive worriers.

How do we best deal with a calamity? You must decide ahead of time, rehearse what you will do, so if something happens, you will deal with it in the right way.

You will have procedures in place in your personal life. You will find that you can automatically shift into that which you have rehearsed and come out on the other side of the situation feeling better.

God needs us just as we need God. When we are in a situation, we must handle it and handle it well, and we always handle it well if we are allowing God to come through us in the moment of our need.

If we are stressed-out feeling anger, fatigue, and fear, we will tend to overreact or freeze and not act at all. If we react in the wrong way, we can cause more damage than caused in the original crisis.

There were two layoffs in the same company on the same day. One person went through the company, shouting and screaming, and telling people off. The other person had a rehearsed emergency procedure where she went to God and she was able to stay calm and collected. She handled it so well that one of the bosses who secretly was leaving the company took notice, and asked her to come to work for him, which she did, at a greatly increased salary.

You will handle yourself well under stress, if you have emergency procedures in place in your mind. With God, you can handle anything, and handle it well. Instead of flying off in 1,000 different directions, you know what to do, and you react in the best viable way, for the good of others and yourself.

You prepare for the worst, by using the best – God – and rehearsing the best coming through you.

I am not dictating in today’s Positive Daily Inspiration what your personal emergency procedures should be. I have given you an example, but you must practice to see what works in your own individual life. You must decide this for yourself, rehearse it, modify it, and refine it, until it will work every time. Everyone has an emergency at some time or another. And a system in place for dealing with it ahead of time is a smart, spiritual move towards a successful life.

I have said, many times, that a church is a remembrance society, where you come to remember what you already know. This procedure is a spiritual remembrance in time of need. A spiritual life is obtained through daily practice. The word religion means “way of life.” We need to have systems in place for the good times, and the bad. To be able to use your religion on a daily basis is where the real value of religion comes in. To be able to use it at a time of great need can be a tremendous value to your soul.

Write out what your emergency procedures will be. Practice, refine, and then commit to memory so that it can be available at any time, and a moment’s notice.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER

Dear God, help me in these fleeting days that I may not use my time to consider and hesitate, but be positive in my desires and pursue them. Grant that I may have the strength to hold each day precious and live it more fully.

Ash Wednesday – LENT – 40 days Giving up Anger

“The person who has an ear, let that person hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The person who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give that person a white stone, with a new name written on the stone which no one knows except the person who receives it.” Revelation 2:17

For everyone, this can be a powerful spiritual time. The word Lent is derived from a word meaning “Springtime.”

And on this, the first day of Lent, we can experience a spiritual springtime in our souls – the budding of new spiritual ideas and the unfolding of new awareness. We can manifest inner growth that comes from using our energy and vitality in new and creative ways. We can blossom forth with joy and enthusiasm.

Traditionally, Lent is a time of fasting, of denial, of giving up something.

Positive Christianity breaks down the word LENT to mean –

Let’s Eliminate Negative Thinking.

We can adopt this theme as we relinquish limiting thoughts about ourselves and others. We can ask to express Christ-like ways, and to recognize such expression by others. We can deny any sense of limitation or lack and affirm spiritual wholeness and well-being.

Lent can be a time of spiritual growth and reawakening as we express the ever-renewing life of Christ, and as we manifest Christ-like abilities in our own lives.

For 40 days (not counting Sundays leading to Easter) I ask you to keep a journal to become aware of the negative thought patterns and record your positive actions to correct them. I believe in this, because it helps us to record and become aware of where we are, and more important where we would like to be.

This year I’m asking you to focus on eliminating one major thing for the next 40 days leading to Easter. I am asking each of you reading this to give up anger for the next 40 days.

The power of Lent is denying and abstaining from our lower animalistic traits and replacing them through habit and action with the latent spiritual qualities, leading to an Easter like resurrection experience of our souls.

For 40 days, every time you begin to get angry, you will spiritually decide not to go there. You will learn to act and react in a higher way. When we get into the spiritual business of removing waste packed into our consciousness, and in some cases, doing spiritual archaeology to rediscover what was given to us from the beginning, but now hidden under the layers of human consciousness. A shift happens inside of us from problem thinking to solution thinking. Truly we will be following Jesus Christ not just in word, but 1000 times more important, in action to become more like Him.

I ask you to focus again on the above Bible verse. This was written for the people in the churches, those that were seeking actively spiritual growth, like you are today. It is talking about conquering ourselves and receiving a hidden continuous wellspring of manna of God’s ideas that are unlimited to meet your every need. It promises a white stone, which in biblical terms means a clean slate, a new beginning. It is a beautiful statement that God will continuously give you a fresh start when you’re ready to accept it.

For the next 40 days we are abstaining from anger.

POSITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear God, I pray that I will be empowered in Your Mind.
I fast from negative thoughts, and all anger, for the next 40 days and
I pray that these traits are permanently removed from my thinking and my life.
I pray that I will automatically think positive from this Lenten time on.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and your staff – they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.”

The Lord is the one who leads me at all times. Like a shepherd, dear God, You lead me away from harm. As I think Your thoughts, I am led away from all harm I might do to myself. I am constantly in Your protection. I am surrounded with Your all good. I am infilled with Your love. Dear God, I do not want for anything, for You give it freely to me now in this moment.

Rest in the silence in prayer …

You take me away from the pressures of my own life, and you make me lie down in green pastures. You take me away from the nervousness to the calm. You take me away from that which is turbulent inside of me and You lead me beside the still waters where I relax at the core of my being.

You restore my soul. You restore me to full vitality and energy, full capability with creativity, and full, wonderful rejuvenation in my body temple.

Rest in the silence in prayer …

You lead me in the right paths. So many times, of myself I have made my ways a tangled mess. But, dear God, once again I turn to You and once again I feel the power and the majesty of going in the right direction.

I do everything for Your name’s sake. In Your nature I live my life. I live my life to be an example of what it is to have God flowing through me. I am an example to myself first, for the way I think ministers to my entire body. All the cells of my body are my congregation, and my mind a great minister who lives the lesson of truth. No matter what I face with my senses – my eyes, my hearing – even if I walk through the darkest valley I’ve faced in life; I fear no evil because, dear God, You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, all the power of Your mightiness, all the wonderful power of Your wisdom, You are with me to comfort me.

Rest in the silence in prayer …

Even in the darkness moments, God you are within me to prepare a table for me, a feast of correct, wonderful, soothing thoughts and new life to flow inside of my body. Even in the presence of my enemies of sickness or thoughts that would destroy my life, my career, my relationships, I turn to You and I am infilled, once again, with that love, that power, and that mercy.

You anoint my head and everything that is in my head – my mind and my thoughts – with the wonderful oil of a spiritual feeling of tranquility and warmth. The cup of my own spiritual awareness overflows to touch others.

Rest in the silence in prayer …

Surely goodness follows me wherever I go because You are only good and You are with me at all moments. Mercy is part of You, and because You are part of me; it is part of me. It follows me all the days of my life.

How grateful I am during this prayer that I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I shall dwell in the house of the Lord every moment of my life – my whole life long.

For anyone who is upset because of what somebody did or did not do –

For anyone who is disappointed by another’s lack of loyalty or betrayal of friendship –

For anyone who is going over and over, in her or his mind, some incident that seems unfair, unjust, or uncalled for –

Here is some good advice:

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is generous, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things … and the God of peace will be with you.”

“If there is anything worthy of praise.” There is always something worthy of praise in every situation, no matter how negative it appears. There is something worthy of praise in every person, though we may not think so. For God, the good, is in every situation, and the Christ is with every person. If we think about this, we will have peace of mind.

Say this prayer out loud:

The Christ love cleanses my thinking of all upset, disappointment, or feelings of unfairness. The Christ love cleanses my thinking of feelings of guilt, unforgiveness, or sorrow. With God’s help, I am free and happy, today.

Now and then, unhappy memories of the past may come to mind. This happens even though we thought we had put them behind us long ago. We find that we are reliving some experience of the past, feeling, again, the old unhappiness or sense of guilt.

Through God’s help, we can find release from even the memory of past hurts that we have been carrying with us, consciously or unconsciously. We are cleansed, spiritually, and are able to think, rightly, once again. The purifying, forgiving Christ love is released into full healing action in us, as we hold to the freeing truth, and let the Christ love do its powerful work in us.

“If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed!” Through Christ, we are free indeed to have right thinking and to live fully and joyfully, today.

“You will be free indeed.” John 8:36

A church sign in Springfield, MO said: “America, bless God!”

A church sign I saw in Dripping Springs, Texas: “If you are looking for a sign from God, this is it”

Sign seen in deli in Washington State: “What a friend we have in cheeses!”

Up at the head table in the cafeteria, one of the nuns had placed a big bowl of bright red, fresh, juicy apples. Beside the bowl, she placed a note which read, “Take only one. Remember, God is watching.” At the other end of the table was a bowl full of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, still warm from the oven. Beside the bowl, a little note scrawled in a child’s handwriting which read, “Take all you want – God’s watching the apples.”

The famous Olympic skier Picabo (pronounced Peek-A-Boo) Street is not just an athlete, she is a nurse. She currently works at the Intensive Care Unit of a large metropolitan hospital. She is not permitted to answer the telephone as it caused simply too much confusion when she would answer the phone and say –Picabo, ICU.

Gardening Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it’s a valuable plant.

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.

In the Native American tradition, one member of the tribe assumes the role of “Faith keeper.” This person’s role is to remain at peace, centered in spiritual vision, no matter what events befall the tribe. Even if everyone else in the tribe slips into pain, fear, or dissention, the Faith keeper is the one person the tribe can rely on as a lifeline to the Presence of God.

This is our role now.

In the face of the strange and shocking events, it would be almost humanly impossible not to be moved and challenged. Who could look upon such inhumanity and not be shaken?

Yet there is a place within all of us that is always connected to our higher being. That is the place to go to now. Your greatest contribution is your clarity, sense of purpose, and vision.

If you go into fear or terror, negativity has won.

It has succeeded in terrorizing you. Is that the role you would play?

Would you not rather overcome hatred with love?

Doubt with trust?

Sorrow with comfort?

“Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered.

The question is not, “Have you moved off your center?”

The question is, “How quickly can you regain it?”

For many years we have been studying the principles of spiritual truth.

Now is the time to put them into practice.

When things are going well, it is easy to find God. When things seem chaotic, it is harder. The strength we build by claiming Divine order when it is utterly unapparent is paramount. Spiritual mastery is gained in times just such as these.

Know that in every seeming dark cloud, there is a miracle in there somewhere.

Let us not use any event as a way to stay disconnected from higher power. Hold firm to your sense of wholeness and that of everyone you consider.

When you are upset, you are ineffective to see a right course of action. When you are positive, you are very powerful.

Mahatma Gandhi noted, “The pure love of one person can offset the hatred of thousands.” The pure love of one person can offset the anxiety of thousands.”

Let us each be that one person.

There are two elements to every problem: What happened, and what we do with it.

What was done has been done. What will be is still in our hands. We can make of it what we choose. We can use it as a justification to lash out or we can build a new consciousness that has no home for terror. Let us begin by quitting terrifying ourselves with scary thoughts. Love disarms.

God is here to help us pick up the pieces and move on. And we will be closer to home for it.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, sometimes I do not understand why things happen. I ask for Your strength and power to move beyond the large and the small tragedies of daily life. Empower me to not anchor myself in the negative mistakes of a few, but to ground myself in Your presence and Your power.

Are you going through a dark experience, a time when things seemed unjust?

“Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
Exodus 14:13

Remember the promise, “It is the Lord your God who goes with you; God will not fail you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:8

Let go of all resentment or fear. Let go and let God take over. God is present in every person and every situation, and you can trust God to bring about that which is right, just, good, and orderly.

God is your strength, your peace, your unfailing help in every need. Release all your needs to God and trust in the perfect outworking of God’s good and loving law. No matter what the situation, let your prayer be, “Thank You, God, for the perfect outworking of this and every situation.

Some of the experiences and circumstances of your life change every day; this can be highly stressful if you allow it to be. These changes are inevitable. You may initiate them, or they may be initiated by others. You may desire them, or you may wish that they had never occurred.

Regardless of the changes you experience, you can, at any time, return and rest in God, then you will meet each one with confidence and courage.

In 2 Corinthians 4:18, the Bible states, “We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

If the appearances you face seem overwhelming, you overcome any sense of helplessness by relying on God-sustaining presence. In God, you are strengthened and fortified continuously.

Through any experience, whether you call it good or bad, you can meet it with confidence and courage, as you let go of the ineffectual thoughts, feelings, and habits. You meet life with confidence and courage as you hold positive, loving thoughts, as you continually praise God and your fellow humans, as you act in harmony with your world, as you give thanks for the unchanging love of God.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER

I pray that this day, and every day, and every moment, I am blessed by God and fortified by God’s strength and power. I pray that I know God and God’s ever-present help, constantly and consistently. I pray that I do not rely upon my own power alone. This moment, I return and I rest in the living presence of God ever with me. May I be blessed in profound ways.

For-GIVE-ness

Luke 6:37

Today, say aloud this prayer:

“I am not found in lower personal consciousness.
All unloving, unforgiving thoughts are released with God’s help.
I see myself and others in a new light.”

Tonight, sit for half an hour, in prayer, just before you go to bed, and mentally forgive everyone that you have held anything against. If you have allowed any feelings of hurt, injustice, or unforgiveness to build up in you, you now, consciously, deny their power to destroy even an hour of your life. Unforgiveness is like a poison that is held in the human body and mind. If it is not released, it will come out in some undesirable way, such as sickness.

When you sit for half an hour before sleep and choose to forgive, you are affirming, in prayer, your freedom from lower personal consciousness and from states of mind that keep you unhappy with yourself and critical of others.

Doing this, at this critical time, when the mind is open and receptive and ready to go to sleep – to relax and to allow God to work through you with great, forgiving love as you sleep, has great power. Having affirmed your freedom in prayer, you act on it. When thoughts that are less than loving and forgiving come to mind, you annul them with thoughts of God’s love, and thoughts of pure forgiveness. With God’s help, during the night, new feelings of harmony and peace will sweep over you.

You are empowered by God to see yourself in a new light, and you see all others in a new light, and you follow through on this new vision by expressing a new spirit of forgiveness and understanding.

Make this activity a spiritual habit every night. When you are anxious about some other person or about the actions that you did, you pray, and let go, and let God takeover. You find freedom from anxiety as you hold to the realization that God is in charge, and that all things are working out in right and perfect ways.

This change happens in us. We do not put off our own good until another person changes. Often we may require the other person to jump through imaginary hoops we have set up in our minds to prove themselves. Forgiveness in today’s language means release – self-release.

True forgiveness is releasing the poison from within ourselves,

Spiritually forgiveness has nothing to do with the other person.

Unforgiveness is self-abuse.

Forgiveness is about giving a gift that is beyond what many people think they can give. It is an ultimate gift, and we give, and we find in the end it is a gift that we give to ourselves.

Joy is found again. Joy cannot be found in holding onto the grudges; true joy is in giving God’s love; it is for – giving.

Our lower human mind tries to tell us that we MUST hold onto that information, which is like our stomachs telling us that we need to hold onto and ingest the poison that another person fed to us. It does not hurt the other person to hold onto something that hurts us. We must release.

When you let go and let God forgive through you, you find strengthened renewal in the realization that the pure love of God is flowing freely through you, cleansing, healing, and restoring you.

Spiritually you will find that if you can’t do it, God can through you. Every night, you let go and let God’s healing work be done in you. First, to work on the big things and then, when those are forgiven, you go into daily maintenance, making a conscious decision not to go to bed thinking ill-will against another person, place, or thing – or about yourself.

You find assurance in the realization that your power of forgiveness comes from God, and that you are never separated from your source. You have faith in God’s loving provision to empower your thoughts and attitudes towards others and towards yourself, today, and in the days to come.

Tonight, one half an hour before sleep, you let go, and let God take over in your life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
Tonight, dear God, I pray that this is the moment in time that I am beginning the process of total release from the pain that I have held too long.
I ask for Divine help. I am willing and ready to release and forgive.

“In God we live and move and have our being … For we are indeed God’s offspring.”

Speak and feel these words with power:

I am always at home in God. In God’s presence, I find peace, protection, and security. When I am tempted to feel alone or uncared for, I remember I am God’s beloved child and that I can never be apart from God. Abiding in the assurance of God’s love and care, I see myself as happy and joyous.

With God’s ever-present help I am successful and a prosperous offspring of the Most High. In God’s presence, I have everything I need to live fully and completely. I relax and give thanks that in God, I am whole and complete. Through God’s grace and goodness, I am blessed with peace and plenty.

Living in God, I enjoy fullness of life. I know that I can never lack for any good thing. As this realization grow in me, I find that I am stronger, freer, and more blessed with self-assurance. I have found my place in God and I abide in God forever.

I am calm and confident, today; sure, of right guidance, for God’s light shines on my way. My prayer dissolves fear and loosens the bonds of the indecisiveness. Through prayer, I received not only right answers, I also deceive the courage and strength needed to act on those answers that come.

I am at home in God, today. I feel safety and security all around me. I am enveloped in a Spirit of love and trust. I am assured by the presence of God that my help is at hand. I do my part, today; I release any limiting thought of doubt. I let it go now and place my entire faith in God’s light that shines continually on my path.

As I trust God, follow God’s guidance, and act on it with confidence I realize that wherever I am – God is. I experience the joy that is born of faith. I am blessed by God, and I am a blessing to others. I relax in the environment of God, I feel a Divine tranquility circle round about me. I find that everything is in God’s perfect Divine order.

No disorder can stand up to the perfect order of God. I am at the center of the shelter of the Most High.

God’s umbrella of safety, security, joy, and happiness cover my life and the lives of those that I care about. I realize that as much as I care as a human being – that God loves and cares more.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
O Lord, thou has searched me and known me,
Thou knowest my sitting down and my rising up.
Thou understands my thought far off.
Search me, O God, and know my heart,
Try me, and know my thoughts,
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
