Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you”
2 Corinthians 13:11

Some couples begin a relationship with that “starry-eyed happily-ever-after” feeling. They stand in front of the minister of their church and say, “I do,” committing to happy until death do us part. Somewhere along the line, probably between the first mortgage and the last tuition payment the romance can fade. The stress of work deadlines and household chores can leave partners a bit frenzied. Unfortunately the “couple connection” can become weakened. Individuals become too busy and fail to take the time to remember that the person across the table at breakfast is Mr./Ms. Right!

If this sounds a bit familiar, don’t despair. Reconnecting as a couple isn’t that complicated. Researchers at the University of Cincinnati Psychological Services Center surveyed couples who have been together for several years.

They developed the following list of “rules” for maintaining happy, committed relationships.

Prayer: Happy couples make a relationship through an active awareness of God’s love. They take time to pray together every day making a powerful spiritual connection. Most couples do it first thing in the morning.

Priorities: Happy couples make their relationship a priority even if it means rescheduling other obligations. Set aside time every day to “reconnect”.

Timing: Happy couples seize any time they can. Today’s culture offers many forms of competition such as increased work hours and a variety of activities. Resist the urge to “do it all”. Your relationship is more important! Make specific dates with your partner if you have to.

Recovery: Happy couples have learned to recover quickly from arguments and insults. If an issue needs to be addressed, they will often wait until a good time (after an enjoyable outing) to calmly discuss the issue when they are both at their best. They are prepared or I should say “Pre-prayed” for whatever comes their way.

Playfulness: Happy couples take their relationships seriously and know the value of fun and laughter. When life “rains on their parade” they find the humor. They know the value of nurturing the child within and taking the time to play together.

Communication: Happy couples keep the lines of verbal and non-verbal communication open. They share everything – problems and concerns as well as dreams, hopes and what they love about their partner.

Parenting: Happy couples don’t make their partner feel second to their children. They make sure children respect their privacy.

These secrets are really no secret at all, but simply common sense. A relationship is a relating – ship. Positive communication, communication, communication.

Basically, you should treat your partner as you would want to be treated yourself. The investment of a little time and effort is worth the reward of a happy, lasting relationship.

“It is the Lord your God who goes with you; God will not fail you or forsake you.”

As you rest, think within yourself about your positive faith. You have faith in God. God is your instant, constant, abundant help in every need.

You have faith in God to open ways where to human sense there is no way. You have faith in God to guide, govern, and direct you in Divine directed service.

Rising up in you now is a faith in God to raise your human understanding to Divine higher understanding. You have faith in God. And because God is with you, you have faith in yourself as a child of God, eager to do God’s bidding.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Dear God, I expect a miracle. Understanding that my help comes from You, I will not limit You with preconceived opinions of human mind. I am open and receptive to Your unlimited reservoir of good.

The abundance of God’s good is mine to use, share and enjoy. I am dwelling in the midst of infinite abundance of good. The abundance of God is my infinite source. The river of life is flowing through me, from God, through my memory, to, and through, my entire body. The river of life never stops flowing. It flows through me into lavish expression of God’s good.

Good comes to me through unexpected avenues. There is always a higher outworking of God’s law. It demonstrates in my life this day. God works in so many ways with so many wonders that I cannot even perceive of them in human mind this moment. Nothing is too good to be true because I dwell in the midst of all good and all love of God. Nothing is too wonderful to happen. With God as my source, nothing amazes me.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

I now give myself, freely and fearlessly, into this amazing, happy life that I am living today. Life gives back to me with fabulous increase. Blessings come in expected and unexpected ways from God.

God provides for me in wondrous ways this very day.

I am in grateful gratitude for what God is now doing for me, right now.

The river of God life flows through me now. The unlimited reservoir of good and love is outpouring on me, right now.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

May God’s good uplift you and fuel you in your daily life. Nothing else will exist but thoughts of God’s good. We turn to God now with our whole mind. We call forth the total, complete cleansing of God, as you rest it occurs. We ask that all negative thoughts dissipate like a mist. Like a fog, it will dissipate, under the heat of God’s light, and be no more.

We call forth the thoughts of God. We call forth a new reservoir and an investment of God power within us. Today, this moment, the action is taking place inside of each of us. We are created anew in God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

If an old negative memory should ever come up, dear God, with Your help, I will receive the blessing of light. I will have better dreams at night. I will have a wonderful power during the day that gives me a foundation for my faith filled life to rest on. My positive thoughts have 1,000 times more power. Every thought in me is a thought of God.

May my mind be a reservoir of God’s Divine ideas that hold to the truth about me.

Thank You God, for Your ever abiding presence in my life.

“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Matthew 6:12

Jesus said, “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.”

I meditate on these words. On this Monday, I take them into my heart, and I am determined to live by them, today.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I am ready and willing to forgive. Work through me, RIGHT NOW, to accomplish full forgiveness of all. I withhold nothing or no one from Your all-forgiving love. What has gone on before does not matter. I lose it and let it go. The only thing that matters is what is going on now, in my mind and in my life. I choose to follow God and to walk and act in the ways of love.

This new way may be higher than my average human reaction; this new way may be higher than what the human self of me believes that the other person deserves — but it is the best way, the blest way. It is the loving way of God.

I am healed, today, of all past hurts by the perfect love of God coming through me without restriction or resistance. I feel at peace with myself and with all others. I give thanks for Your forgiving love at work in me. I freely and fully forgive and I am freely and fully forgiven.

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION:

God is with me, God shows me the way!

I know that God can and will do God’s perfect work of forgiveness through me, as I truly seek to be forgiving. I release any feeling of un-forgiveness towards anyone who has disappointed me, this week. I go beyond this, by releasing any feeling of un-forgiveness toward anyone who has ever disappointed or injured me in any way. I release even the remembrance of little hurts and slights. I choose not to take this cluttered weighted down baggage with me into my weekend.

I give myself a break! I give myself an opportunity for true rest and relaxation. I decide to go on a vacation in my mind from resentment, anger, and inner hostility. No one bothers me, because, inside of myself, I do not give anyone else the chance. I am God empowered to NOT replay events, over and over again. I make the conscious decision to release and let go, and to let God take over. I will not worry, fret, or have a concern over another’s actions. No one, no situation – has power over me accept myself – and God’s love.

God’s love now takes over in every part of my mind, for myself and for all others. I know that God can and will do God’s perfect work of forgiveness through me, as I truly seek to be forgiving, this Friday. I release freely any feeling of un-forgiveness toward anyone.

True: Caller ID –

This story involves a pastor of a storefront church. The pastor’s church is called Almighty God Tabernacle.

On a Saturday night, this pastor was working late, and decided to call his wife before he left for home. It was about 10:00 PM, but his wife didn’t answer the phone. The pastor let it ring many times. He thought it was odd that she didn’t answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try again in a few minutes.

When he tried again she answered right away. He asked her why she hadn’t answered before, and she said that it hadn’t rung at their house. They brushed it off as a fluke and went on their merry ways.

The following Monday, the pastor received a call at the church office, which was the phone that he’d used that Saturday night. The man that he spoke with wanted to know why he’d called on Saturday night.

The pastor couldn’t figure out what the guy was talking about. Then the guy said, “It rang and rang, but I didn’t answer.” The pastor remembered the mishap and apologized for disturbing him, explaining that he’d intended to call his wife.

The man said, “That’s OK. Let me tell you my story. You see, I was planning to commit suicide on Saturday night, but before I did, I prayed, ‘God if you’re there, and you don’t want me to do this, give me a sign now.’

At that point my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID, and it said, ‘Almighty God’.

I was afraid to answer!”

For those diagnosed with AAADD – Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it goes …

I decide to do work on the car, start to the garage and notice the mail on the table. OK, I’m going to work on the car … BUT FIRST I’m going to go through the mail. Lay car keys down on desk. After discarding the junk mail, I notice the trash can is full. OK, I’ll just put the bills on my desk … BUT FIRST I’ll take the trash out, but since I’m going to be near the mailbox, I’ll address a few bills … Yes, Now where is the checkbook? Oops … there’s only one check left. Where did I put the extra checks?

Oh, there is my empty plastic cup from last night on my desk. I’m going to look for those checks … BUT FIRST I need to put the cup back in the kitchen. I head for the kitchen, look out the window, notice the flowers need a drink of water, I put the cup on the counter and there’s my extra pair of glasses on the kitchen counter. What are they doing here? I’ll

Just put them away … BUT FIRST need to water those plants. I head for the door and … Aaaagh! someone left the TV remote on the wrong spot.

Okay, I’ll put the remote away and water the plants … BUT FIRST I need to find those checks.

END OF THE DAY: Oil in car not changed, bills still unpaid, cup still in the sink, checkbook still has only one check left, lost my car keys, … And, when I try to figure out how come nothing got done today, I’m baffled because … I KNOW I WAS BUSY ALL DAY!

I realize this condition is serious … I’d get help … BUT FIRST … I think I’ll check my e-mail.

Dear God, I pray that you will help me to laugh more and take myself less seriously. I pray that I have the ability to see humor in life.

DECK OF CARDS

A young soldier was in his bunkhouse, all alone one, one Sunday morning. It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars and land mines, for some reason, hadn’t made a noise. The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.

As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.

Just then an army sergeant came in and said, “Why aren’t you with the rest of the platoon?”

The soldier replied, “I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.”

The sergeant said, “Looks like you’re going to play cards.”

The soldier said, “No sir, you see, I’ve decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.”

The sergeant asked in disbelief, “How will you do that?”

“You see the Ace, Sergeant, it reminds that there is only one God.

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments.

The Three represents the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Four stands for the Four Apostles: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The Five is for the five virgins that were ten, but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth .

The Seven is for the day God rested after working the six days.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives, who God saved the from the flood that destroyed the Earth for the first time.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy. He cleansed ten but nine never thanked him.

The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of the silliness and error ways of humankind.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.

When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.

There are a total of 52 cards in a deck, each is a week, 52 weeks in a year.

The Four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Each suit has thirteen cards; there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.

So, when I want to talk to God and thank God, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.

The Sergeant just stood there and after a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, “Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?”

JUST DO IT!

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

The Mice once called a meeting to decide on a plan to free themselves of their enemy, the Cat.

At least they wished to find some way of knowing when she was coming, so they might have time to run away. Indeed, something had to be done, for they lived in such constant fear of her claws that they hardly dared stir from their dens by night or day.

Many plans were discussed, but none of them was thought good enough. At last a very young Mouse got up and said:

“I have a plan that seems very simple, but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a bell about the Cat’s neck. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming.”

All the Mice were much surprised that they had not thought of such a plan before. But in the midst of the rejoicing over their good fortune, an old Mouse arose and said:

“I will say that the plan of the young Mouse is very good. But let me ask one question: Who will bell the Cat?”

Moral: It is one thing to say that something should be done, but quite a different matter to do it.

I believe that when someone says, “Someone should do something,” that person should run to the nearest mirror, and then find the person that should take action.

I often tell people that complain about something with passion, to get involved, if it’s politics – run for office. Standing on the sidelines is not the same as getting in the game. Life is not a spectator sport.

One of my favorite simple pieces of poetry is as follows:

A Bell is not a Bell until you ring it,
A song is not a song until you sing it
Love in your heart is not meant there to stay,
Love is not love until you give it away.

Life is about positively giving forth, not taking. Life is about the difference YOU make.

Just as a boat does not reach its potential in dry dock, the human is not doing God’s will by NOT taking positive action. Life is movement, life is action, life is trying to do your best.

I would rather be a person that failed, than a person that did not try at all. Some of the failures of my life have been exhilarating. It was a wise person said that sometimes we fail to reach our greatest pinnacles of success, because we have not failed enough.

I often share with my son when he is overwhelmed with all the things that he wants to do this simple wisdom. I hold up one finger and I say, “Do just one thing in the direction that you want to go, that will start you, and the passion will keep you going.”

Just do it – but don’t do it alone.

So many people never move because they are so fearful of failure. If they could just grasp a glimpse of the profound help that is available to them from God they would start moving and have the confidence to keep moving to reach their every goal. The impossible is easy for God. God makes life easy for you, if you keep yourself in gear, and going in a forward God directed direction.

“We know that all things worked together for good to them that love God.”
Romans 8:28

All things work together for good to them that love God. My concern, therefore, is to love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength – and then, to leave the rest with God.

If difficulties or disharmonies rise up today, in my life, it may be that there is some lesson for me to learn. I will gladly seek to learn it, quickly, willingly, and without resentment of any kind.

I give thanks to God for the love that surrounds me. I give thanks for the many persons who help and bless me. God loves me. Above all, I give thanks to God, who is my help in every need. I express love to someone, today, realizing that I must give away some of the love that God so freely gives to me.

I go forward, day by day, with courage and confidence. God is guiding. God’s perfect universe is proclaiming Divine order, and God is guiding me. God is guiding all God’s children, so I know that those who are dear to my heart are kept in God’s care.

Through love, God’s love for me and my love for God, all things are working together for good.

To be centered in God, directed by God, and motivated by God’s power is to have a perfect linkup with the source of all good. All the life and health, prosperity and success, happiness and peace of mind I could ever desire are available to me, right now.

My need is to center my love in God, to listen for God’s inspiration and guidance, and to let God’s power move through me in my daily living. To center myself in God’s love, I first pause in prayer; I turn away from the things that concern me; and place my attention on the goodness and love of God. I think in terms of health and wholeness. I think in terms of joy and peace and prosperity.

I concentrate on the blessings of God.

Then, I listen, in prayer, for God’s guidance as to what I am to do, in order to live my life, successfully. I feel an inner confidence and assurance welling up in me. I know that God is now giving me the love and power to fulfill God’s good plan for my life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, today, I surrender my lower self to Your higher ways.
I stop trying to push and pull and exert my own will. Not my will, but Thine be done.
This moment I consent – to my life, the very person that I am, and all the days of my future to follow You.

Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“Teach me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.”
Psalms 143:8

The harmony of the beloved hymn that we all recall, resounds the truth – Holy, holy, holy … Lord God Almighty.

We now go to God in prayer.

Feel the chair supporting you. Feel your body sink deeply into the soft cushions. Feel your feet inside your shoes as they touch the floor. Sit up as straight as it is comfortable for you. Raise your head up high. Feel your spine lengthen and straighten as you do so.

Feel God is supporting you in the same way uplifting you, and your life.

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Take another. Breathe it in, deeply and let it out, slowly. Follow your breath, in and out. Peace, be still. Peace, be still.

As you breathe in, deeply and let it out, slowly, know your connectedness with God.

Say silently to yourself in prayer: God is with me.

With the in-breath say “God goes ahead of me preparing my way of good.”

With the out-breath say “God is with me.”

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Let the Presence and experience of God’s holiness permeate you from this moment on throughout the day. May the holiness of God come together and touch you, completely, missing nothing.

In the silence of prayer you become still and realize that the love of God is flowing throughout your being. You recognize Divine love as the one true source of all that you will ever need. You know that as Divine love works through you, it will bring harmony to every circumstance in your life.

Let us sit now in the silence of prayer and meditate in this way, breathing in, deeply, breathing out, slowly, and repeating silently: God is with me. With the in-breath say “God goes ahead of me preparing my way of good,” and with the out-breath say “God is with me.”

Do this now in the silence of prayer …

We are filled with the whole, complete Spirit of God’s help.

We give thanks to God for Divine guidance, we are grateful that it is available to us at all times. Wisdom and good judgment are ours to be experienced when we follow the inspiration we’ve received from God.

We know that we are being Divinely directed path that will lead us to the greatest happiness and success.

For this experience and for the presence of the Presence, we are grateful.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen.

“He who has prepared us for this very thing is God.”
2 Corinthians 5:5

Today I’m going to talk about spiritual preparation so that you can truly reach your goals.

We would not think of taking a trip or vacation without first making preparations. Then, because we have already taken care of details, we can give our attention to enjoying the scenery and our activities.

And there is even higher order preparation: Spending time with God. Immersing ourselves in the presence of God has long-lasting results: It produces the endings that we saw in the beginning in our prayers. We feel less stress and do not worry about the little things–things we usually have no control over anyway. We feel more relaxed and prepared to deal with whatever comes our way.

We enjoy the journey of everyday life.

What kind of situations and conditions are you talking yourself into or out of today? You will be your own best coach, teacher, or trainer because you are inspired by God to use a language that prepares you to expect the best from yourself, your journey, and your destination. The language of the soul encourages you to excel — not in competition with others, but in an eagerness to enrich yourself spiritually.

You allow the wisdom of God to speak to you and as you. You invite the courage of God to uphold you and be accomplished through you.

Like new growth bursting through the earth, you free yourself of old limitations and habits. No longer do you talk yourself out of any blessing. You open yourself to the magnificence of God each and every day.

You rely on God’s wisdom to guide you. So when you encounter an obstacle in the road ahead, you are prepared. You can choose to go around it or you can attempt to remove it. Whatever your decision, it is based on sound judgment and inspired by God. God will help you reach the destination you so desire in life.

Dear God, I ask Your help this day to help me become more than I am right now.
I seek to become a better person and live a larger life.
I pray that I make a difference with my life.

When “God provides”, God provides THE VERY BEST!

A woman received a telephone call that her infant daughter was very sick with a fever. She left work and stopped by the pharmacy for some medication for her daughter. When returning to her car, she had locked the keys inside.

She had to get home to her sick daughter, and didn’t know what to do. She called home to the babysitter, and was told her daughter was getting worse. She said, “you might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door.”

The woman found the old rusty coat hanger on the ground, as if someone else had locked their keys in their car. Then she looked at the hanger and said, “I don’t know how to use this.”

She bowed her head in prayer and asked God for help.

An old rusty car pulled up, driven by a dirty, greasy bearded man with a biker skull rag on his head.

The woman thought, “Great God. This is what you sent to help me????” But she was desperate, and thankful.

The man got out of his car and asked if he could help. She said, “Yes, my daughter is very sick. I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car.” He said, “SURE.”

He walked over to the car and in seconds the car was opened.

She hugged the man and through her tears she said, “Thank you so much … You are a very nice man.”

The man replied, “Lady, I ain’t a nice man. I just got out of prison for car theft.”

The woman hugged the man again and cried out loud, “THANK YOU GOD FOR SENDING ME A PROFESSIONAL!”

God will always open doors that have been closed to you.

Taking a Centipede to Church

A single guy decides life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet.

After some discussion, he finally bought a centipede (a 100-legged bug) that came in a little white box to use for his house.

He took the box back home, found a good location for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him, so he asked the centipede in the box, “Would you like to go to church with me today? We will have a good time.”

But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked him again, “How about going to church with me and receive blessings?”

But again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet.

So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation.

He decided to ask him one more time; this time putting his face up against the centipede’s house and shouting, “Hey, in there!

Would you like to go to church with me and learn about The Lord!?”

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS!

A little voice came out of the box:.. “I heard you the first time! I’m putting on my shoes.”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, whenever I need Your help, You are there with me to uplift me and give me strength. Your loving presence fills me relieving every longing of my heart.
You are always with me, God – even when I am least aware of You.
