An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity. – Winston Churchill

But, how about ordinary “real life?”

The greatest danger for most of us is NOT that we aim too high and we miss it, but we aim too low and reach it. – Michelangelo

How many of us love the experience of rush hour traffic?

Rush hour is an interesting phenomenon if you let yourself be present to what is going on. I sat in my car and watched the faces of the people in the cars next to me. Most of their faces exhibited an empty look like, “I am doing something I have to do, but my heart is not in it.” Some of them were even reading newspapers; one man was shaving, two were eating take-out, five were talking on cell phones and drinking coffee at the same time.

I do not want the fellow behind me, in front of me, or next to me to be so wrapped up in the sports page that he loses awareness of what is going on.

These are our brothers and sisters. These are God’s children. But what about the promise of fulfillment, the promise of great glory, the promise of God’s joy? What is happening to that, in regular ordinary life?

A lot of people do not feel joy in daily life. It can change.

What we need, I believe, are more examples of people whose lives are more real, even in Bible stories. You hear the story about David who slew the giant Goliath with five stones. You hear the story about Jacob who had such fantastic adventures (We will have a story about Jacob a little later.)

In the New Testament, we hear the wonderful story about the prodigal son. The young man said to his father, “I do not want to wait until you make your death before I enjoy my share of your riches, so please give it to me now.” (That sounds like something my children would say.) Can you imagine saying that in this world?

The father did, and off the son went. The son had his high times while the money lasted, but it did not last forever. (It usually does not unless you are a good steward of it.) Then he found himself deep in problems. As a matter of fact, he found himself so deep in the pits that, for a good Jewish boy, he had to endure the most humbling experience of all – feeding pigs. And he was not even allowed to eat the pig slop. That is about as low as one can get.

Then he started his journey home. He is prepared to be his father’s servant – no longer even a member of the household. His father comes out to meet him while he is approaching, puts a ring on his finger, shoes on his feet, a beautiful cloak on his back, and tells the servants to kill the fatted calf because there is going to be a celebration.

Jesus even said, “When one returns to the fold, God rejoices.” What about the ones who never left the fold?

I want to share with you a story that you may or may not remember about one of the forgotten people of the Bible – the prodigal son’s brother. He had been out in the field while his brother was approaching the house. He had been working with the servants to make sure the crops were being attended to, properly. He was on his way back to the house, probably hungry, and tired. He then hears all this racket at the mansion.

Let me read you the story from the fifteenth chapter of Luke [Luke 15:25-31]:

“Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. He called one of the slaves and asked what was going on. He replied, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.’ Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. But he answered his father, ‘Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with wild friends, you killed the fatted calf for him!’ Then the father said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.'”

What I want to ask you is: Was that older brother, the older son, aware that he was always with his father, and that all his father had was his? Or did he carry his relationship with his father as a burden?

It sounds to me as if there was a lot of resentment there, a lot of the older brother comparing his life with his brother’s life, and feeling he was coming up on the short end.

That is what life can be about, too. We take that hunger and we try to satisfy it with achievements, accomplishments, and things, and it does not work.

A great philosophy was expressed in the newspaper on the comic page, in the comic Ziggy. Ziggy is coming around a corner. Heading toward that corner is a man carrying a sign that says, “Happiness is just around the corner.”

Ziggy said, “Gee, I must have missed it.”

In the comic Cathy, Cathy is sitting in her chair with her diet soda thinking, “Gee, 200 symphonies, 1500 art museums, 700 plays, 33 operas, four years of college, 150 seminars, 20 workshops and 5,000 books … a lifetime of studying, reading, pushing, reaching and growing, and I have finally become one with my true potential.” The last panel shows her pushed up against the refrigerator, and she says, “Human refrigerator magnet.”

Doe’s life seem like that for us??

My answer to that is, “Probably from time to time.” Spirituality is what you make of it, day by day, becoming FULLY awake and aware. Spirituality loves the regular ordinary days as much as the extraordinary.

One woman said, “I remember the day my heart did open, and I read the words: “I am a child of God, and every moment God’s life, love, wisdom, and power flow into and through me. I am one with God and I am governed by God’s law.” I had to grab onto my chair because I felt it going through me like a surge of power or upliftment.”

Then she said, “I went back to regular ordinary life; I went back to doing those same old things, things I do every day.”

She said, “I remember other things I also read during those days. Things like: There is nothing in all the universe for me to fear, for greater is the presence of God with me than anything that is in my world. I remember believing that with all my heart and saying, ‘Wow!'”

Do you remember feeling spiritual power like that? Do you recognize that if you want to, you can feel it right now?

So we see those coffee cups and bumper stickers that say, “Beam me up, Scotty. There is no intelligent life here.” We recognize that is funny, sure, but that is the way we really feel sometimes. We feel like strangers in a strange land, but the fact is we are not.

In God, there is no absence of life, substance, or intelligence, anywhere.

Part of the problem is a learned behavior that we humans have that induces us to be overly critical. Some people call it human nature. They say it is human nature to make mistakes. We look at the mistakes we have made and we say, “This is terrible! I call myself an evolving spiritual being, and yet I do things like this. I certainly hope nobody ever finds out about it!”

I wonder what life would be like if we could read each other’s minds, what things we would see. I tend to think we would see a commonality in the things we are ashamed of that would make us smile. We all make mistakes. And because we all make mistakes, and because we criticize ourselves for mistakes, I want to share with you a story about a mistake that seemed like a good idea at the time.

The title of this is “The Far Side Comes to Life in Oregon.”

“I am absolutely not making this up,” the writer said. “In fact, I have it all on my Dish Hopper. The video is from a local TV news show in Oregon which sent a reporter out to cover the removal of a 45-foot, 8-ton dead whale that washed up on the beach. The responsibility of getting rid of the carcass was placed on the Oregon State Highway Division, apparently on the theory that highways and whales are very similar in the sense of being large objects.

“The highway engineers hit upon the plan of blowing up the whale with dynamite. The thinking is the whale would be blown into small pieces which would then be eaten by seagulls, and that would be that – a textbook whale removal.

“So they moved the spectators up the beach, put a half ton of dynamite next to the whale, and set it off. I am probably not guilty of understatement when I say that what follows on the DVD is the most wonderful event in the history of the universe.

“First you see the whale carcass disappear in a huge blast of smoke and flame, and then you hear the happy spectators shouting, “Yea! Whee.” Then suddenly the crowd’s tone changes, and you hear a sound like, “Splut.” You hear a woman’s voice shouting, “Here comes pieces of … my God.”

Something smears the camera lens.

“Later,” the reporter explains, “the humor of the entire situation suddenly gave way to a run for survival as huge chunks of whale blubber fell everywhere. One piece caved in the roof of a car parked more than a quarter of a mile away. Remaining on the beach were several rotting whale sectors the size of condominium units. There was no sign of the seagulls who had no doubt permanently relocated to Brazil.”

The writer goes on to say, “This is a very sobering video. Here at the Institute we watch it often, especially at parties.”

See, you have made mistakes; I have made mistakes. We can tell funny stories about them. As a matter of fact, I have a funny story to tell about the prodigal son story.

Sure, we make mistakes, and we think those mistakes define us, but they do not. God defined us. Do you remember how God defined us? It goes back to the first chapter of Genesis [Genesis 1:26] where God said, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness. We forget that, don’t we?

As a matter of fact, after the great awakening (which is sometimes called the fall) what did Adam and Eve do? They hid.

People say there is not much humor in the Bible, but when you look at the third chapter of Genesis, you have to think that that is kind of funny.

If God is God, how could Adam and Eve hide from God and do it successfully? There they were, crouched behind a bush. God comes looking for them and says, “Adam, where are you?” Adam tries to keep quiet until God finally finds him. He set a pattern for humankind. We have been doing this ever since.

I know a few people who say they share all of their thoughts with God, but not very many. Most of us are afraid that if God really knew what was in our heart of hearts we might not receive God’s love any more, or that we might not be worthy of being loved.

Some people say, “Yes, but we are spiritual students.” Yes, we are churchgoers, but we are also subject, to some extent, to the thoughts that have plagued humankind, since it began to think.

I am here to tell you that there is a way through all of this. The way is the way of awareness.

Remember one thing: if God was really that upset with us, we would have been vaporized eons ago. As a matter of fact, there was a movie back in the late 40’s or early 50’s called “The Next Voice You Hear.” Do any of you remember that movie? In it, all of a sudden, God takes over the radio waves and says, “Look, folks, you have not been doing too well. I am going to give you a week to straighten things out. If you do not straighten things out … it is curtains for you.”

So, throughout the world, there are meetings and new cooperation. It is interesting how things happen like that when chaos or punishment is threatened. God does not punish; God never did. It is time we owned this truth in our mature spirituality. We as humans punish ourselves.

It is also time that we begin to be aware that the presence of God’s love is always with us. The presence of God fills this room more than we ever could. The presence of God stays in this room when we are not here. This is a holy place.

One of the things I would like you to be aware of is how holy this place is for the people who come here. But this place, holy as it is, is no holier than any other place. God is with you wherever you are, even in your car in rush hour traffic.

I want to share another Bible story with you about Jacob. This is about Jacob after his mother told him that he should get out of town, because his brother was going to kill him. Jacob stole his brother’s birthright, and his brother was upset.

He left a place called Beersheba. Spiritually, Beersheba is the place where your faith begins to take its proper role in your life, where it begins to rule. He was heading toward Haran which spiritually means a place of higher spiritual consciousness, a place of elevated thought.

That is the place where most of us are right now. Our faith has begun to take hold (otherwise, what would we be doing in church on Sunday morning?), and we are on our way to a higher awareness of God.

[Genesis 28:11-17] “He came to a certain place and stayed there for the night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place. And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, the top of it reaching to heaven; and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

“And the Lord stood beside him and said, ‘I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring; and your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and all the families of the earth shall be blessed in you and in your offspring.'”

He has just stolen his brother’s birthright, and yet God is telling him that, by him, all the families of the earth are going to be blessed.

“Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that of which I have promised you.” This was just an ordinary place, a clearing in the road, with a stone for his pillow, and a beautiful insight. His response to the insight is what is important. Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place – and I did not know it!

The next verse is probably even more telling. “And he was afraid, and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'”

I am going to give you a challenge. I invite you to take this thought and use it in some of the places you do not consider so particularly sacred. It is written above some church doors. I saw this crudely painted above a storefront church once: “This is the house of God. This is the gate of heaven.” At the time, I was so arrogant as to not to believe in the possibility that it was so. You see, the storefront was in the midst of a slum. It was hardly an attractive place. They called that the Gate of Heaven? But maybe it was. Maybe any place can be, and maybe any activity can be.

I do not know what you are going to be doing today – whether it is something wonderful or something very ordinary and mundane – but I do know that whatever you are going to do, wherever and however you do it, God is there.

Walt Whitman said, “To me every hour of the day and night is an unspeakably perfect miracle.”

You see, that is real life. What we call real life is only a part of life because it so often leaves God out. I would like you to take the thought with you that I shared just a bit ago: I am a child of God, and every moment (when I am taking a shower, tying my shoes, washing the dishes, when I am sitting in that freeway traffic jam) God’s life, love, wisdom, and power flow into and through me.

God is found; spirituality is found, in the midst of doing ordinary things.

William Shakespeare said, “All glory comes from daring to begin.”

I give you the invitation today, and the challenge, to remember this thought in those times when it seems like nothing much is going on, like nothing of any great value is happening, and like you are not particularly worthy of being called the child of God you are.

Spirituality is all about our awareness. The gift has been given. God has said, “Child, you are always with Me, and all I have is yours.” It is up to us to respond. What an invitation! Think about it. I wish you a regular ordinary day filled with the presence of God.

God bless you!

PRAYER / MEDITATION_____________________

As we begin our time of prayer and meditation, I ask you to simply be spiritually aware of yourself and your body. What is going on in your body now? What does it feel like? Be aware of your mind. What thoughts are walking, floating, racing through in your mind? Be aware of your soul.

Be aware, and recognize that right where you are, God is.

Right where you are, God help is available.

Allow yourself to feel the power of God.

Right where I am, God is – the allness of God is your help in every need.

You continue in an awareness of God, and you add to it the awareness of constant love, help, and reassurance. You notice a restful change that begins to take place when you take your thought. When you let thoughts of God become dominant and supreme in your consciousness, things begin to spiritually change – not outside of you in the outer world, but within you. Feel that happening in you now.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Right where you are, God is.

Feel the power of this prayer as it goes deep within you. Right where you are, God is. Perhaps you can feel the invitation of God calling you to be more completely, more deeply, aware and alive in that Presence that goes beyond all human understanding and explanation.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Right where I am, God is. Feel it, rest in the Presence of God.

Feel the invitation as it leads you into the silence, into that deep rich quiet where there is no longer any separation or obstacle between you and a complete awareness of God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Right where I am, God is. Focus this thought now; let it take you into the silence.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Out of the silence, your awareness reaches to thoughts of people you love – people who are near and dear to you; people whom you would bless in this time of prayer. Hold with me the highest thought for anyone who comes to mind: Right where you are, God is …

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Watch your thought about that person or situation change. Feel the sense of peace that passes human understanding as we hold the thought: Right where you are, God is …

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Now, even as we begin to turn our thoughts back to this moment and the work that is ours to do this day, the awareness of God stays with us. We are, vibrantly and acutely, aware of God with every breath we take and every thought we think.

Right where we are, God is.

Thank You, God, for all Your gifts, but most especially, for the glorious gift of the awareness of Your presence.

Thank You, God!

In the name of Jesus Christ … Amen.

NEW VIDEOS NOW ON-LINE

Too often we feel alone. But there is always someone ready to take our hand. There is a beautiful story of an overworked nurse who escorted a tired, young man to her patient’s bedside. Leaning over and speaking loudly to the elderly patient, she said, “Your son is here.”

With great effort, his unfocused eyes opened, then flickered shut again. The young man squeezed the aged hand in his and sat beside the bed. Throughout the night he sat there, holding the old man’s hand and whispering words of comfort.

By morning’s light, the patient had died. In moments, hospital staff swarmed into the room to turn off machines and remove needles. The nurse stepped over to the young man’s side and began to offer sympathy, but he interrupted her.

“Who was that man?” he asked.

The startled nurse replied, “I thought he was your father!”

“No, he was not my father”, he answered. “I never saw him before in my life.”

“Then, why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”

“I realized he needed his son, and his son wasn’t here”, the man explained. “And since he was too sick to recognize that I was not his son, I knew he needed me.”

Mother Teresa used to remind us that nobody should have to die alone. Likewise, nobody should have to grieve alone or cry alone either. Or laugh alone or celebrate alone.

We are made to travel life’s journey hand in hand. There is someone ready to grasp your hand today. And someone hoping you will take theirs. Remember to hang on to one another. Spiritual growing requires it.

If you’re a gardener, you know that sturdy plants are those with deep roots, which are capable of reaching down into the earth for nutrients and moisture.

Just as true, the strong, happy person is the one whose life is deeply rooted in God, and deeply rooted in God’s children. It is spiritual growth that our souls long for, and it is the uplifting power of faith, prayer and togetherness that nourishes us.

I used to know a woman who was very unhappy. After talking with me, we both agreed that her life wasn’t working the way that she was working it. She agreed to go on a spiritual quest and began praying and meditating every day for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night. Her life started to turn around. She said later, “When I looked in the mirror I saw a fully grown and mature woman, but inside I was anything but fully grown. When I started praying, I started to recharge my spiritual batteries, my resource and reserve. I couldn’t believe the difference that it made in my outlook and my energy. This has literally changed my life. I rely upon God instead of myself.

When she started to feel better and felt a reserve of power instead of the daily drain, I told her that to continue to grow spiritually she needed to get more involved in others’ lives than her own.

Spiritual growth should be your goal. You know intuitively that there is a pattern of perfection in you. You are a child of God and capable of happiness. Something in you never forgets, and never for a moment loses sight of the spiritual nature of your being.

You live in God. With each passing day, you become more firmly grounded in God. You understand that you derive your life, your strength, and your wisdom from God. You will find more strength by giving it away. The strength will flow through you like a conduit.

You enter into your times of prayer with sincere and gracious appreciation. You make your prayer times an attitude of thanksgiving. With your heart filled with gratitude, you open wide every channel of good and receive increased flow of blessings. You naturally give those blessings away by your very presence to others.

Throughout the day you simply and lovingly turn to God and say, “Thank You, God.” You decide to change your life through spiritual growth and live in an atmosphere of thanksgiving to God. You rejoice always in the bountiful goodness that you receive, and for the privilege you have of giving to others.

A thankful mind is not depressed, fearful or worried. Its focus is on God instead of temporary problems.

Your spiritual growth based on prayer and thankfulness multiplies and increases your good, first in your awareness of how good life can be and then in all that you attract to yourself. You become a light to your world.

I am praying for your active spiritual growth today. I pray that spiritual growth becomes a vital, indispensable part of your everyday living. I pray that your life is transformed, and you transform others by the life you live.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

(Simple prayer – with life-changing effects.)

Dear God, if anyone ever needs me, send me there.

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: I follow Christ by getting involved in others’ lives in positive ways.

“It is the spirit that gives life.” John 6:63

King Arthur and the Witch

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur’s youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question? … What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch’s proposition to have an answer by year’s end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived, and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur’s closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, and smelled like sewage. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden: but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur’s life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur’s question thus: What a woman really wants, she answered … is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur’s life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the house. But what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen was before in the living room. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened.

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible, deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day … or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, an old witch? Or would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman?

What would YOU do?

What Lancelot chose is below. BUT … make YOUR choice before you scroll down below. OKAY? … … … … … … … … … … ..

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now … .what is the moral to this story?

The moral is … If you don’t let a woman have her own way … Things are going to get ugly!

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

I praise God for the love that sustains me.
I praise God for the light that shines in me.
I praise God for the life that constantly gets better.
I praise God for my good that meets my needs.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: God’s love melts situations that seem out of control entirely or impossible. I abide in serene fellowship. The light of God surrounds me; the love of God is the source of my abundant good.

(Submitted with our great thanks)

“They were filled with wonder and amazement.”
Acts 3:10

Written By Regina Brett, at 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer Newspaper, Cleveland Ohio

“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.

It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone …

4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay check.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry, God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles; use the nice sheets; wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion; today is special.

22. Over prepare; then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 13, 2022 – According To Your Faith Be It Done To You

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 13, 2022 - According To Your Faith Be It Done To You

“With long life I will satisfy them and show them my salvation.” Psalms 91:16

Jesus said, “According to your faith be it done to you.”

Let us pray to increase our faith.

Positive Daily Affirmation Statement for the Day (Read aloud if possible):

I have faith in God as my instant, constant, and abundant health. I have faith in God as the source of my happiness and well-being. I believe that God created me to enjoy the blessings of a fruitful, happy, and creative life. I remember that God is good and that God’s good is present with me wherever I am. God sustains me in a healthy, prosperous state now and forever. I open my eyes to the joys and wonders of the new life of faith. I feel needed. I feel wanted. I feel secure. I feel joy in my soul, for I have an awareness of the fullness and completeness of God’s presence around me and within me.

I welcome the richness that living yields, and I keep my mind filled with bright, shining ideas that produce joy-filled, satisfying days. I am indeed, blessed to know the truth that frees, and I now give all my attention to living from the premise of faith in God.

I go to God first and I listen for guidance. God is revealing to me the answer for my particular need. God is showing me the way to meet every situation. God is speaking to me in my innermost heart. I take time now to go to God in the silence of this moment. I take time tonight to join in silent prayer reflecting on God’s power in my life. God is whispering to me, so softly that I cannot hear unless I give God my complete attention in all humility.

God is quickening God’s ideas in my mind, telling me the next step to take, urging me to follow God’s direction. God is prompting my heart. I am alert to the activity of my guiding Lord. I am ready to act in God’s power. God is inspiring me with new insights, arousing in me God’s truth, animating me with God’s life.

Today I choose to hear God. I am blessed with ideas of health, happiness and prosperity right now in this moment.

Thought to Take into Prayer – from Psalms 62:1, “For God alone my soul waits in silence.”

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
E. M. Forster

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 12, 2022 – Trusting in God Frees You From Stress

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 12, 2022 - Trusting in God Frees You From Stress

“In Him we live and move and have our being … For we are indeed His offspring.”
Acts 17:28

Trust in God! Go to God so that you can relax and let go. Trust in God to increase your health, your outlook on life, and your very contentment. Trust in God to bring you refreshing rest. Trust in God to reveal to you the right companions and satisfying relationships. Trust in God to pave the way to effective action and truly enjoyable daily living.

“Come ye yourselves apart … and rest a while.” Mark 6:31

Your trust in God frees you from burdens and releases you from feelings of excessive responsibility. Trusting in God enhances the working of your human intellectual processes and helps you to perceive when the suggestions of others are wise and right for you. Your trust in God brings you inner freedom from heaviness of thought and emotion, and lifts you above the strain of difficult striving.

Every moment, practice trusting God to reveal to you what you need to know. Trust God to direct you in helping your body adjust to healing, strengthening and rebuilding itself. Trust in God to guide you into the most helpful ways of communicating with your family, into relating successfully to any challenge in your home or business. Trust in God to unfold your life plan, and trust in God that God will help all who you love unfold their life plan.

Trusting in God, you’ll find that your anxiety is dissolved and that decisions come through more easily for you. You will find yourself less troubled about the future and more peaceful about the present. Trusting in God will immediately improve your attitude and lighten your worry. You will have a closer awareness of the presence of God with you this very moment.

I do not have more God than you; you have as much of God with you as I do. Human awareness of God is the key. How aware are you of God in this moment? I invite you to join us in silent prayer every day. This is designed to increase your awareness of God. You’ll sit in the silence of prayer and think about God, instead of thinking about your problems.

Trusting in God is like a ship anchoring itself in a safe harbor; it will keep you safe, steady, and secure. We must repeatedly turn our attention to God and keep our attention upon God. Trusting in God will give you the right ideas to solve anything in your life that needs solving. Trusting in God will illumine your mind. Trusting in God will heal your body and your mind. Trusting in God will release you from limiting habits and destructive ways. Trusting in God will free you from agitation or irritation in regard to the attitudes of others. Trusting in God will quiet your impatience and bring a profound peacefulness to your soul.

Practice trusting in God’s presence. Practice trusting in God’s presence in your own life. Practice trusting in God’s presence in the lives of those you love. Discipline yourself to go to God instead of going to worry. At the very moment that you become upset or disturbed about something, say, “I trust in God and place my total faith in God’s absolute power to resolve this situation in Divine order.” Saying this simple prayer will help you to be calm instead of upset, quiet instead of angry, peaceful instead of irritated, and healthy instead of sick.

No matter how huge the difficulty appears to you, trust in God to guide you to victory. God will. If at first you find it is a struggle to trust, trust anyway. If you feel that it’s impossible for you to trust, trust anyway. If you think that you can’t make the grade, trust even more. If you doubt your own ability, potential, or capacity of faith, just be firmer and more insistent that you trust in God. Trust again and again and again. Trust by the moment, and the next moment, and the next. Trust in the morning, trust in midday, trust in the evening, and in the middle of the night.

It was this kind of trust that led Simon Peter to follow Jesus’ advice to launch into the deep and let down the nets for the desired catch of fish. Even though Peter had already done that very thing earlier without results, he followed anyway, trusted anyway, believed in God as being greater than the problem at hand. As a result of this total trust, he was, we are told, astonished at the catch of fish.

Dear Positive Daily Inspiration reader, you stand upon the brink of your good from God this very moment. It is there, right where you are now! Begin to accept and to receive it. With God’s help, like Simon Peter, you will be launching into the deep with greater awareness of the good that lies ready and waiting for your acceptance in faith.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

MY DAY

I bless my day by praying that it becomes God’s day.

I pray that this day becomes a day of bliss through God’s action in me.

I pray today that I receive Divine help. I pray that I enter into this day with a calm peaceful mind and as I proceed, I am literally bathed in the tranquility of God’s presence. I pray that I find every peace that I need to find. I pray my day becomes an easier task than

I ever thought. I pray that through God’s mind thinking in my mind that I clearly understand all, to the standard of perfection.

I pray that all the math works together in my favor, all the odds are on my side.

I see myself filled with God’s confidence. As I go forward, I am assured of accuracy and right judgment. God energizes me and makes me feel good in mind and body. I am filled with the energy that comes from accomplishment. I am glad to bless others in this day, in this way. I pray that there is a shift in me that changes my thinking to Higher Mind.

I pray that my life is much easier for me this year than ever before, so much so, that I never put off doing great things to the last moment.

In my following days I will know that God is ready to work with me and my days become fun.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: I dwell in the consciousness of eternal love. I draw to myself those whom I can bless and those from whom I can receive a blessing. My personal life is beautifully harmonized. I am fulfilled and happy.

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.” Colin Powell

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 11, 2022 – HOW TO LIVE

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 11, 2022 - HOW TO LIVE

“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.”
Romans 12:6

This is a simple how-to, but like many profound truths the simplest ways are sometimes the best.

HOW do you live your life better?

HOW do you find your way?

HOW do you become happy all the time?

HOW?

H – HAPPY

O – OPTIMISTIC

W – WAY

HAPPY– You decide to be happy. No other decision, circumstance or challenge can stand up to God and you. Therefore, you decide this moment, that this moment is a gift and you’re not going to waste it.

“The former things have passed away … behold, I make all things new.”
Revelations 21:4, 5

OPTIMISTIC– You decide to be optimistic. Optimism is about the future and you are traveling there fast. The future will be determined by your opinion of it, and therefore you decide this moment that the next moments in your life will be a gift from God and you’re not going to waste them.

“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of humans, the things which God hath prepared for them that love God.” 1
Corinthians 2:9

WAY Some people look at the circumstances and their life and they say, “NO WAY!”

God says, “WAY!”

With God there is always a way. When you are in a maze, when you see no way God whispers in your ear follow me – I know the way.

Every time people shake their heads and say, “No way,” you answer – “Way!” Because you live by faith not by appearances.

“My presence will go with you.” Exodus 33:14

Someone might say that one day is not a very big thing in a big life. But a big life is made up of many small days, and HOW we lived each one of them.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I know there is a way.
With You, there is always a way.
Even when I do not know the way, I have faith that You do.
I do not freeze; I do not stop.
I move ahead fearlessly with Your ever-fast guidance and light.

In Jesus Christ’s name.

Thank You God.

Amen

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: My God will show the way to personal happiness, and lasting optimistic attitude.

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “Always try to keep a patch of sky above your life.” Marcel Proust

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 10, 2022 – Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 10, 2022 - Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“The God who made the world and everything in it … Gives to all morning light and breath and all things.”
Acts 17:24,25

It is the holy time to stop the rushing in your life, stop for this holy moment the rushing of your thoughts.

Stop busyness with me in prayer and make a new spiritual beginning. Take a new direction led by God. Touch the Spirit of God. Be in tune with the harmonizing power of God. Relax. Return to God, our Source found in silent prayer.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

We take this spiritual action because we need the renewal, the refreshment, the rebuilding that prayer affords. This is a time of quietness, a time of withdrawal, a time of contemplation and communion with God. We stop and we rest. We withdraw for a few moments from the outer pressures.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

In prayer, we are entering into a realm that will revive us and renew us.

This is a recharging time that will recharge us and make us able to do all the things that are before us to do, easily, perfectly, on time, and in order. In this moment, you are feeling the beginnings of a revitalization through the power of prayer. You are beginning to feel a recharging happening inside of you. It is like the plugging in of a light bulb into electric current.

We are charged with new life from our Source. We are in-filled and infused with spiritual power. When we find ourselves tense, anxious, and pressed for time, it is in a moment of calm contemplation of God Truth that we see ourselves as spiritual beings, where we can feel God’s presence, where we are lifted to new levels of thought and consciousness.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

We wish to live more creative, worthwhile, productive lives. We open our minds and hearts and lives to the light and guidance of God, and we are shown what is right and essential for us to do. We are given wisdom and we are given strength directly from God.

Positively decree aloud: I WORK WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD, AND I ACCOMPLISH ALL THINGS EASILY, PERFECTLY, ON TIME, AND IN ORDER. (Repeat)

Rest in the silence of prayer …

With God’s help, we do the things that we need to do.

You are gaining a great sense of peace and freedom. You are finding, in this prayer time, that there is an order that is being established inside of you, in your thinking, and there is a new motivation of power coming from this spiritual recharging that will allow you to do all things with a sense of order and rightness. Divine order is happening in your thinking. We are in tune, and we are in Divine order within ourselves.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Positively decree aloud: GOD’S DIVINE ORDER IS IN MY EVERY THOUGHT AND EVERY FEELING. DIVINE ORDER IS IN MY ATTITUDES. DIVINE ORDER IS IN MY ABILITY TO DISCERN NEEDED STEPS. DIVINE ORDER IS IN MY USE OF GOOD JUDGMENT.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

The power of God is at work in us. We are one with God’s power. We are channels through which God power flows. There is a Divine order in our lives right now. It is active in our thinking. It is active in our body temple, and it is in our trusting. You trust in the good outworking of God.

Because of your trust in God and in Divine order, you now have the courage to release anxiety.

Positively decree aloud: ANXIETY, I CAST YOU OUT IN JESUS CHRIST’S NAME. YOU NO LONGER CAN BE A PART OF MY CONSCIOUSNESS. TENSION, I CAST YOU OUT. YOU CAN NO LONGER BE A PART OF MY CONSCIOUSNESS. I EVICT YOU.

I NOW fill myself with the true knowing of the omnipresence of God. My belief is in the belief of ultimate goodness of God’s plan for me and for all of God’s creation. I know that Divine order is real; it is steady, and God is in charge. Not my will, but Thine be done in Divine order.

I have faith in the Spirit of God, the Spirit of good, the Spirit of love, at work in my life. The power of God with me, right this moment, is guiding me and giving me illumination. I am turning to God and God is turning to me, and I feel a power flowing through my awareness right now that I know is real. It is beyond anything that is outside of me. Divine order is occurring, and it is promoting growth and good and happiness.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Divine order is happening in my life, establishing order, casting out the confused and the complex. This prayer is a catalyst to start positive changes in the right direction in my life. I am receptive; I am a receiver of all that is good. I believe in the power of Christ which is always at work in and through me, and through all circumstances and conditions. All things are working together for good because God loves me. Say that to yourself time and time again in this silence. God loves me …

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Positively decree aloud: GOD’S LAW OF ORDER IS AT WORK IN MY LIFE. I AM ESTABLISHED IN AN AWARENESS OF DIVINE ORDER, AND RIGHT OUTWORKINGS ARE FORTHCOMING.

We pray in the name and nature of Jesus Christ, with belief and expectancy.

Thank You God! … Amen.

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: This day, I know that a healing, resolving activity of God has begun.

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” – James Matthew

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 9, 2022 – Ten Days of Powerful Prayer

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 9, 2022 - Ten Days of Powerful Prayer

Prayer Times 10 – 2 – 4 – daily focus on the power, and the meaning, of the daily Bible verse in prayer.

DAY 1. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge God, and God will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Learn something every day. If you only lean on your own knowledge, you will not be able to grow. You must grow yourself to grow your life.

DAY 2. “Behold, I am doing something new! It’s already happening. don’t you recognize it? I will clear a way in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land.” Isaiah 43:19

Sometimes you will need to move as conditions pull you in a different direction.

You might need to reinvent your life, and you should not be afraid. God’s always got your back.

DAY 3. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

There will be things that you really need that you will not win. There will be days when you drop the ball, but you cannot let that define you. You will get another opportunity – God is with you always. God is a God of second chances.

DAY 4. “Faith without works is dead.” James 2:26

You can’t just pray for success. Develop a plan and work your plan. If you can do something about your situation, then do it. Stop making excuses, stop procrastinating, and do it!

DAY 5. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

One of the most important things you can do for your life is to pray EVERY day in thanksgiving and gratitude.

DAY 6. “As I think in my heart, so am I.” Proverbs 23:7

Your thoughts can be your number #1 Asset, or your biggest liability. When you are alone in your office or back bedroom, your thoughts can easily turn on you. Your ability to stay positive, learn from all experiences and shake off mistakes quickly will be a big asset to your life. Pray to be more positive now.

DAY 7. “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Making decisions in your life based on fear is never helpful. For that matter making decisions in anger is not good either. Try hard not to be reactionary with others. Use factual information and up-to date faith to make sound decisions.

DAY 8. “But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day.” Habakkuk 2:3

You need to understand that God’s time is not your time. There may come a time in your life when you just know you have something you have dreamed about, one that you really need and things may fall through. Those are the times when you need to trust in God the most.

Accept God’s timing, learn to live in hope, and enjoy your life, while God works on your problems.

DAY 9. “Happy is the person who finds wisdom, and the person who gains understanding;” Proverbs 3:13

Be a lifelong learner in life. You should constantly seek to improve yourself and increase your knowledge. Always seek wisdom from God.

DAY 10. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

So can you – overcome the world – with God’s help!

POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATION: I can because God can through me.

POSITIVE DAILY QUOTE: “Life is bristling with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to cultivate one’s garden.” Voltaire

Positive Daily Inspiration – May 8, 2022 – HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – SUNDAY FUNNIES

Positive Daily Inspiration - May 8, 2022 - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY - SUNDAY FUNNIES

“Love is patient and kind.”
1 Corinthians 13:4

Things Moms Would Never Say:

“How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?”

“Yeah, I used to skip school a lot, too”

“Just leave all the lights on … it makes the house look more cheery”

“Let me smell that shirt – Yeah, it’s good for another week”

“Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I’ll be glad to feed and walk him every day”

“Well, if Timmy’s mom says it’s OK, that’s good enough for me.”

“The curfew is just a general time to shoot for. It’s not like I’m running a prison around here.”

“I don’t have a tissue with me … just use your sleeve”

“Don’t bother wearing a jacket – the wind-chill is bound to improve”

______

Mother’s Dictionary

Dumbwaiter: One who asks if the kids would care to order dessert.

Feedback: The inevitable result when your baby doesn’t appreciate the strained carrots.

Full Name: What you call your child when you’re mad at him.

Grandparents: The people who think your children are wonderful even though they’re sure you’re not raising them right.

Hearsay: What toddlers do when anyone mutters a dirty word.

Independent: How we want our children to be as long as they do everything we say.

Ow: The first word spoken by children with older siblings.

Puddle: a small body of water that draws other small bodies wearing dry shoes into it.

Show Off: a child who is more talented than yours.

Sterilize: what you do to your first baby’s pacifier by boiling it and to your last baby’s pacifier by blowing on it.

Top Bunk: where you should never put a child wearing Superman pajamas.

Two Minute Warning: when the baby’s face turns red and she begins to make those familiar grunting noises.

Verbal: able to whine in words

Whodunit: none of the kids that live in your house.

Weekend: when Dad gets to play golf while Mom catches up on the laundry, cleans the house, runs errands.

______

Principles of Motherhood

1. Motherhood – If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor!

2. Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer your car, and you get about the same results.

3. To be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.

4. The smartest advice on raising children is to enjoy them while they are still on your side.

5. Avenge yourself – Live long enough to be a problem to your children.

6. The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere – and to let the air out of the tires.

7. The right temperature in a home is maintained by warm hearts, not by hot heads.

8. Raising a teenager is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.

9. Parents: People who bear infants, bore teenagers, and board newlyweds.

10. The joy of motherhood: What a woman experiences when all the children are finally in bed.

11. Life’s golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car.

12. Any child can tell you that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble.

13. Grandparents are similar to a piece of string ~ handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of grandchildren.

14. A child outgrows your lap, but never outgrows your heart.

15. God gave you two ears and one mouth … so you should listen twice as much as you talk.

16. There are three ways to get something done: Do it yourself, hire someone to do it or forbid your children to do it.

17. Adolescence is the age when children try to bring up their parents.

18. You know the only people in this world who are always sure about the proper way to raise children? Those who’ve never had any.

19. Cleaning your house while your kids are at home is like trying to shovel the driveway during a snowstorm.

20. Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as stupid as my teenager now thinks I am.

21. There are only two things a child will share willingly: communicable diseases and his mother’s age.

22. Money isn’t everything, but it sure keeps the kids in touch.

23. Adolescence is the age at which children stop asking questions because they know all the answers.

24. An alarm clock is a device for awakening people who don’t have small children.

25. Why is it that our children can’t read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

26. How do you cope when the apple of your eye becomes a bone in your throat?

27. No wonder kids are confused today. Half the adults tell them to find themselves; the other half tell them to get lost.

28. The persons hardest to convince they’re at the retirement age are children at bedtime.

29. Kids really brighten a household; they never turn off any lights.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

God’s help is at hand for you, right now where you are.
God’s everlasting help is at hand.
God’s help is yours, right now.
God is at work doing whatever needs to be done in your life while you relax and let go.
God is at work in your life, in your body temple, in everything in your life, God is at hand.

God’s wisdom is lighting up your mind this moment.
God’s power is strengthening your body, and God’s peace is calming your soul.
God is at hand doing everything needful and good and productive, right now.
There is no obstruction; there is no delay.
There is nothing to hinder God’s presence and power.

God is your creator and re-creator, the sustainer of healing life and peace, ever lifting and supporting you. There is nothing in life that you cannot do, that you cannot face, that you cannot surmount, that you cannot overcome or obtain, for God is your help in every need.

God is at hand, now, in your life. You can let go and give thanks this moment, for God is the kingdom. God is at hand.

You have faith as a grain of mustard seed and remember that the grain of mustard seed is growing into a full-blossoming plant inside of you, bringing to you what you have prayed for.
