“Love is patient and kind.” 1 Corinthians 13:4

Today, you agree to hold kind thoughts about the people in your home, workplace, community, and world. As you bless others, you are blessed with tranquil mind and harmonious relationships. You find the good that is in every person and in every situation, for God is present with all people and in all places.

When you think kind thoughts, you will also speak words that establish harmony and goodwill. Kind words can change the course of your day, and the course of the day for a troubled or unhappy person. Kind words have a soothing quality that act as a soothing balm of peace.

Words of love and consideration have a healing effect felt by both the one speaking them and those to whom they are spoken.

Today, view the whole world and everyone in it with patience and kindness.
Think kind thoughts, today, and speak kind words.

You will be instantly rewarded with peace in your mind and heart.

You can be kind to yourself, too.

When you keep your heart free and receptive to God’s good, you are able to live happily and successfully. In order to achieve those things that are most worthwhile, you need to prepare for them, diligently and maintain self- discipline. This can only be done when you are kind to yourself. Keeping your heart from becoming burdened and heavy laden requires a constant vigil over every secret thought, for thoughts held in mind become part of your experiences.

In our Bible, it states, in Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life.”

If you are unhappy with any area of your life, now is the time for kindness instead of self-condemnation. You have the power and authority to close the door on those thoughts that might interfere with your God-given freedom. You work with God by thinking positive, happy, uplifting, self-kindness thoughts that bring immediate improvement in the way you feel. As you remain persistent in keeping your heart free and receptive to God’s good, lasting changes do take place.

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

John was a Christian and was not used to hearing such vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird’s mouth was rude, obnoxious, and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird’s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to ‘clean up’ the bird’s vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked, kicked, and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet.

Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he’d hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John’s outstretched arms and said, “I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions.

I’m sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.”

John was stunned at the change in the bird’s attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly, “May I ask what the turkey did?”

This is the story of the poor young woman flying in a two-seater airplane with just the pilot.

He has a heart attack and dies. She frantically calls a May Day:

“May Day!! May Day!! Help me!! Help me!! My pilot had a heart attack and is dead. And I don’t know how to fly.

Help me!! Please help me!!”

All of a sudden, she hears a voice over the radio saying:

“This is the tower. I have received your message and I will talk you through it. I’ve had a lot of experience with this kind of problem. Now, just relax. Everything will be fine!!

Now give me your height and position.”

She says, “I’m 5’4″ and I’m in the front seat.”

“O.K.” says the voice from the tower. “Repeat after me: Our Father … Who art in Heaven … “

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

In willingness, I give myself in entirety to expressing and experiencing the full spirit of God.

This week I live in hope and express that to everyone that crosses my path.

I let my light shine, and my life this week is in total faith in God.

DIRECTIONS TO GOD’S HOUSE

If these directions are followed, on point, you’ll have no worries! Follow closely so you will not get lost. The journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step.

Reminder: Stay on the “Right Street.”

Make a Right onto “Believeth Blvd.”

Keep Straight through the first Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

Stay on “Believeth Blvd.” until you reach the “Bridge of Faith,” which is over troubled water.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn.

You are on the “King’s Highway” – Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles:
One for the Father,
One for the Son, and
One for the Holy Ghost.

Then exit off onto “Grace Blvd.”

Continue on “Grace Blvd.” to “Gospel Lane,” and then make a Right.

Keep Straight and then make another Right on “Prayer Blvd.”

As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on “Temptation Ave.” Also, avoid worry Street because it is a DEAD END.

Pass up “Envy Drive” and “Hate Avenue.”

Also, pass “Hypocrisy Street,” “Gossiping Lane,” and “Backbiting Blvd.”

But, you have to go down “Faith Lane,” “Believing Blvd.,” and “Thanksgiving Ave.”

“VICTORY Blvd.” is straight ahead!

“By THIS all humans will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

People love you for the way THEY FEEL when they are with you.

What are the gifts you have to give others, the gifts that are remembered and cherished long after they are given? What are the gifts that mean the most, that bring a feeling of joy and happiness, that last far beyond a special day or event.

They are the gifts that only you can give. They are the gifts that you can share out of the gifts that God has given to you. Think about the gifts that God has given you and make this a truly joyous time for yourself and others by sharing these God-given gifts.

“I give you what I have.” You have a perfect gift to give anyone anytime. Life is God’s gift to you. You can give the gift of life to others. When you think in terms of life and healing, when you pray for others, you are helping them to awaken to the life of God that is available to them. Your own awareness of the healing life of God in which you have your existence makes your prayers effective. Give your gift of life. Speak words of life and healing, behold the healing life of God in the one for whom you pray.

Peace is God’s gift to you. Peace is a gift you can share. The peace you feel in your heart makes you a peacemaker. You can bring the gift of peace to every situation. You can give the gift of peace to any troubled person. You can share of your peace and serenity with those around you. You can give the gift of peace through your prayers, through your peaceful thoughts and words, and through your loving and harmonious attitudes and actions. Pour out your blessings of peace onto others because you are centered and poised in the peace of God. See the peace of Jesus Christ filling the souls of your loved ones in making all things right in their world.

God has given you the gift of joy. You can give joy to others. You can be the one whose very presence brings joy. You can be the one who makes life righter and happier for all those around you. You have the gift of joy from God, a joy that keeps you strong and sure, and you also have the God-given power to share it with others.

Is someone dear to you sad or downhearted? Pray for them in the realization that there is a joyful action of God that is working within them to lift them up. Rejoice and give thanks that God is working with them, renewing with a joy giving Spirit. Your feeling of the inner joy and your joy as attitude make you a natural giver of joy and bringer of joy to others.

You have been given the gift of wisdom from God, and you can share it. When others seem to grope in darkness, when they are seeking guidance and light, you can give them the gift of wisdom by knowing the truth that there is but one source of light and guidance, and by having the wisdom to bless others and pray for them in this knowledge. You give others the gift of wisdom as you behold the light of God shining in them. You give the gift of wisdom as you trust the all wise Spirit of God to be their guide and their light. The greatest gift of wisdom you can give to others is the gift of your wise realization that with them is the source of all they need to understand, to grow, to find right and happy direction.

God has given you the gift of courage, you can share this gift with others. You can give the gift of courage that has helped you to stand strong and secure. You can give others courage by your own steady, fearless approach to life and by your own sure and certain faith in God as the one presence and the one power in your life. You can give others the gift of courage by believing in them knowing that they have the ability to meet life fearlessly, by knowing that they are never alone. Wherever they are, God is.

You can give the gift of courage by praying for your loved ones, placing them in God’s care, by encouraging them to believe in themselves and to believe in God and God’s power ever with them.

You have been given the gift of Divine approval. You can always give your approval, but how can you give Divine approval? Divine approval is the approval you give another from the highest part of you. You behold others the way that God beholds them. You look past appearances and see a perfect child of God.

I thank the Lord who did me keep,

That God may keep me through the day.

I’m in London England today, going to the museums. I love looking at artifacts and history.

Great works of art are often considered priceless possessions. Every family has something that they consider great work of art. It may be their child’s kindergarten drawing of a turkey. My parents kept such a drawing of mine for their entire lives. All it shows me, is that I do not have any skill in this area.

When I am at home, I love to watch the Antiques Roadshow on PBS, and would love to take some of my items that I have saved for years to be appraised by them. It is everyone’s dream to take some item that has been in an attic Since 1999 and have it appraised at over $1 million dollars. In truth, I know that I don’t have anything close to that, but the fun experience would be worth a million to me. I once stood in line almost all night long, outside the CBS Studios in California to be on “The Price is Right.” I didn’t win anything that time either, but the experience is priceless.

Precious memories held in mind become works of art.

Look at compositions of the Master of Music, that music has remained a hit for hundreds of years! Surely the beauty of the soul has been expressed in such works of art.

Perhaps the greatest priceless possession is love, followed by health, followed by satisfaction, peace, and joy. These things in completeness are given by God.

And just in case you haven’t realized it know that you are work of art too. Even more than that, you are work of the Spirit of God. You are experiencing God’s greatest gift – life itself. God created you, and only you, so you are unique and special. No one can ever duplicate or replace you.

So whether or not the image you see in the mirror is one you think of it as a work of art, know that you are! If you have not considered the people around you as prized creations, take another look at them. As God’s creation, every person is of irreplaceable beauty and worth.

Would you describe your life as a work of art, or as a piece of trash?

Would the Potter criticize the clay with a piece that is not yet done?

During times when you are troubled and anxious, you can always turn to God and feel the loving presence of the Christ. The awareness of this presence strengthens your faith and helps you to meet life confidently. But it does even more. It can re-form a damaged life into a beautiful thing.

You are never alone. You have the companionship of the Christ. You are loved.

As you keep your mind and heart centered in the Christ love, you have a feeling of renewal that nothing can disturb. You are uplifted, sustained, and strengthened. You find true beauty in your mind through God’s peace.

Slowly but surely, your life becomes a work of art that only God could create. It is a true miracle. You will live in a joy-filled atmosphere and radiate that joy to others. Your life will shine as you express the love of God. God has inexhaustive gifts for you ready to be called forth at any time. You will have a life that is true, filled with lasting joy and happiness that can only come from a Divine source.

God’s gifts are just that– gifts. A small investment will reap lifetime rewards, the time that you turn the God in prayer, and you consent and accept God’s works in and through you.

POSITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear God, no matter what circumstance may arise, with Your help I do not give negativity a place in my thoughts. I now confidently release every situation to You and know that I need never doubt the perfect outcome.

DOES THE SHOE FIT?

“When God created humankind, God made them in the likeness of God.”
Genesis 5:1

A few years ago, I was shopping in a shoe store with my daughter, and she said that she wanted to buy shoes for her husband. I said, “What is his size?”

She said, “I don’t know” then she picked up a pair of shoes out of hundreds they had on display and she said, “I think these will fit.”

I said, “Honey, you had better check his size before you buy the shoes because a shoe that doesn’t fit isn’t worth anything.” She was sure though that it would fit him, so she bought the shoes. I have never forgotten that; of course, the shoes didn’t fit.

Does the shoe fit?

How often we buy into ideas and opinions that do not fit. They may fit others, but they do not fit us. We make do. We try to squeeze in with the shoehorn of life and pretend we are comfortable. We must think it’s easier to make a fast selection or to settle for something that’s not quite right.

Maybe you need adjustments; your soul is growing and changing all the time. You are not the same person you were ten years ago, or even ten minutes ago. Most people make do because they feel unworthy to ask for anything else. God does not view you this way. God wants you to have the right size and fit in every area of your life.

There is a world of possibilities that are open for you if you are open to them. God views you as the unique creation of the creator. Because you love and revere God, how could you do anything less than have love and appreciation for yourself? Instead of thinking that God could have done better with you, think of how you can do better with the good that God has given you. God will give you greater good in the future also, as soon as you can accept it for yourself.

Great and wonderful possibilities open up to you when you are willing to think the best about yourself and see the best in yourself. This kind of vision frees you beyond mediocrity and conformity. It also frees you to look at others in the same way.

Life goes by too quickly to live our days in shoes or ideas that do not fit.

A successful man told me that he became a lawyer because it was his parents’ wish.

He admitted that it had brought him financial prosperity, but it never brought him happiness because the career did not fit him. When I questioned him about his parents, he stated that they were gone now; they had passed away nearly 12 years ago. I asked him what he really wanted to do with his life, and he said that he wanted to paint as an artist. I encouraged him to follow the path of his passion.

Each of us is unique with unique special gifts given to us by the creator. We live unfulfilled lives when we do not fully explore the avenues of our gifts.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
Dear God, I pray for the right fit for each area of my life.

I pray for divine order and divine adjustment. Empower me so that I no longer settle for something that is less than I can have in this lifetime.

Thank You God.

“Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you.”
Joshua 3:10

As you rest in the presence of God, listen to these words of the Psalmist.

“Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning and settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me”
[Psalms 139:7-10].

Feel, now, a special leading of the Spirit.

These words of the Psalmist express his faith in the guiding, protecting presence of God. They inspire us even more when we realize that the author was writing during a time of conflict and great danger.

God is your help.

God is your inspiration.

Place yourself, your loved ones, and your friends in God’s loving care.

Entrust the day to God’s keeping and acknowledge God’s protecting Spirit from this attitude of calm, poise and prayer.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

This spiritual minute you are gaining new strength and power. You are having the realization of the assurance, a conviction, and a realization that you, your life, and all you hold dear are safe and secure in God’s loving presence.

Realize that you live, move, and have your being in God.

This spiritual realization brings you to a sense of peace and security. If you have thoughts of fear or pain this day, realize that you abide eternally in the protecting presence of God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Dear God, this minute as never before, I am giving myself to You. I am putting my whole trust in You, not only for myself, but for my loved ones and friends. I know that everyone, including myself, is safe and secure. I know, God, that You are watching over us, shielding us, and guiding us.

Fill me now with wisdom to know this, and good judgment to always choose this right and higher way. Fill me with the guidance to bring me safely through every experience.

“Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit, or whither shall I flee from Thy Presence.”

God’s presence is instantly available to me right now. The presence of God, Divine intelligence within my mind, gives an instant answer to every thought. Your mind is poised in God. It is established in a citadel of strength against which nothing can prevail. God’s promise of protection is standing in you. God is answering your prayer. There is faith and trust inside of you. The eternal God is your dwelling place.

Underneath are the everlasting arms.

Rest, now, for a moment in the silence and feel the presence of God …

All of us need a foundation in life to stand on. The best foundation to stand on is the solid rock of God’s truth. Your courage and confidence are unshaken, as you stand on the foundation of your oneness with God.

Perhaps you have a decision to make, that requires great courage. As you pray for the necessary calm and poise to take this decisive step, remember that you stand upon the solid rock of God’s truth and spiritual power. Look to God to fortify you with strength and courage, so that you may fearlessly proceed with your plans.

Let go of the doubts and complexities that cloud your way, replacing them with confidence and trust in God’s perfect plan for your life. God will, unfailingly, guide your steps into ways of ever-increasing good.

As you keep a positive attitude and expect only the best results from your decision, a sense of joy and adventure will come. God has given you the inner resources to cope with every challenge. With your trust in God’s goodness at work in your life, your courage will be unshaken.

Your life is safe, secure, and happy, for you are God’s child. God’s Spirit abides with you.

Decision-making can, at times, be difficult. Weighing all the possible courses you can take, in considering the far-reaching effects of an important decision, can lead to a fearful state of mental passivity were no action is taken.

It does not have to be difficult to make any decision, for the Supreme intelligence of God knows which course is for your highest good and for the highest good of all concerned.

By standing on the foundation of prayer and entering into the silence of prayer – putting out of your mind the problem that you are trying to solve, you become aware only of the inner stillness where all solutions lie. Then, in the silence of prayer, you bring to mind the several courses of action possible. As they pass in review and are contrasted against this inner stillness of prayer, you become calm enough to recognize the right, perfect course of action. Your mind then becomes charged with firm resolve. All former lesser possibilities dissolve into nothingness. Now you can say to yourself, “This is the course of action that God approves of and I step forth in bold action.”

I stand on the promise of 1 Chronicles 22:16, “Arise, and be doing!”

With God, you will have bold decision-making power.

CAN COLD WATER CLEAN DISHES?

A man went to visit his 90-year-old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of the state he lived in. After spending the night, his grandfather prepared breakfast for him consisting of eggs and bacon.

He noticed a film like substance on his plate and he questioned his grandfather … “are these plates clean?”

His grandfather replied, “Those plates are as clean as cold water can get them, so go on and finish your meal”.

That afternoon, while eating the hamburgers his grandfather made for lunch, he noticed tiny specks around the edge of his plate and a substance that looked like dried egg yolks … so, he ask again,

“Are you sure these plates are clean”?

Without looking up from his hamburger, the grandfather said,

“I told you before; those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don’t ask me about it anymore!”

As he was leaving, his grandfather’s dog started to growl and wouldn’t let him pass so he said, “Grandfather, your dog won’t let me out”.

Without diverting his attention from the football game, he was watching on TV his grandfather shouted,

“COLDWATER, Go lay down~!”

THIS IS WHAT TRUE LOVE IS ALL ABOUT

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb.

He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.

On exam it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation I asked him if he had another doctor’s appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer Disease.

As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised and asked him. “And you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?”

He smiled as he patted my hand and spoke. “She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is.”

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life.”

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.

True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray that I know that mighty currents of God’s love are flowing through me.

I make it securely through this day because I immersed in God’s love.

I leave behind me all traces of chilling doubt, or bleak discouragement because I am newly awakened to the potential of God’s perfect love coming through me.

Dreams, once frozen in winter apathy, are now bursting into bloom as creative love activity and love achievement.

I respond to life and the people in my life with the warmth of heart.

Today is my day to love and today is a new beginning of accepting love and giving love.

Dear God, help me to be the person that I desire to have a relationship with.

Help me to exhibit qualities that I seek in others.

Help me to be the person that I admire in others.

Help me to become that – that I seek.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen
