Be a Representative of God's Love

“If we love one another, God lives in us, and God’s love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:12

It was 1989 when a woman came to me and said that her life wasn’t working. No one loved her, and she felt she had no worth. She said to me that she was a good person but no one would take the time to see it. I remember that meeting well. I remember that it was early January – the time of New Year’s resolutions.

I told her that she was like a well that was shouting for people to pour water into it. She didn’t understand, so I went on to explain, on a farm if you were pumping water from an old hand pump, you could pump all day long, until you were exhausted, and not see one drop of water. I told her that you must prime the pump, or give first. You must pour water in to get water out. And in life, you must love first to be loved. Of course, each gives in return much more than is given at first.

I asked her to do an experiment with her life. Instead of waiting for others to show love, I asked her to decide to live as a representative of God’s love for that entire year. I told her that this was a Divine appointment from God, and she was being hired by God to go forth.

She was to no longer seek to get, but to give, through warm smiles, laughter, and feelings of genuine concern for other people.

I still hear from her several times a year. She has told me countless times that 1989 was the best year of her life. In that year, she discovered what was really important. She also discovered love in its truest sense, and therefore attracted it to herself.

This nameless individual is someone you will never meet, but I pray that you are influenced by her. She told me recently that she had contemplated on ending it all, before our meeting that January day in 1989.

So today, this day of 2023, I ask you to live your life as an experiment, to spend one entire year being a representative of God’s love. You will find that you do not have to create love simply express it. God is love; you simply allow that love to come through you. Because you allow God’s love to come through you, you will have unlimited love to share.

You will find that God’s love has an uncanny ability to bring peace to where there is unrest and harmony wherever there seems to be only indifference.

Being a representative of God’s love blesses all people. Because God’s love is in charge, you experience the harmony of being in the perfect flow of life, alive with the Divine energy being generated.

Accepting that you are a representative of God’s love in your own personal life, you think loving thoughts, and speak kind words. You always act in a harmonious way, and you react in the same way. You come to know God’s love for you and how it feels moving out from you.

You develop the capacity to express love continually. As you live from the love of God coming from within you others respond in the harmony. Life will become unlimited love to share and to enjoy.

Become a living expression of God’s love every day.

Dear God, I choose, I make a commitment, and I resolve, to become a representative of Your love this next 12 months. I will express Your pure love; it becomes my mission and my purpose.

LET GOD BE IN CHARGE

“For God will give God’s Angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.”
Psalms 91:11

There is something that I say during the seminars that I am doing around the country, “If God is your co-pilot – switch seats!”

If you are troubled about anything or anyone, ask yourself, “Who is in charge?”

If you only had your human powers to rely upon, if everything depended upon you alone, you would have reason to feel anxious and worried. But who is in charge?

God is in charge! Remind yourself of this often.

If appearances are distressing, or if you are faced with a situation that you do not know how to meet or handle, say to yourself, “God is in charge.” Give thanks that God’s Spirit is at work in the situation and in the persons involved and that God can be relied on to bring about right answers and good solutions.

Jesus constantly reminded people that God’s help was at hand.

Are you concerned about some member of your family or some person who seems to need more help and direction than humans can provide? What you can’t personally do for another, God is powerful enough to do.

What do you do when you have fearful thoughts?

Your faith in God releases you from fear of any kind. With God, you go forward in faith. With God, you’re inspired with new confidence. With God, you are strengthened with new courage. Your faith in God overcomes any fear including those held for a lifetime. God will free you to live joyously.

Let God be in charge.

God is powerful to dissolve all fear. Release undue concern about your health and hold to the faith in God for perfect health in mind and body. Release anxiety about lack and hold the faith in God’s omnipresent supply that is always available to you. Release any feelings of upset concerning your relationships with others and hold to faith in God’s love and harmony flowing in and through you and those that you will deal with this day. Release thoughts of failure and hold to faith in God to lead you toward greater goals and achievements than you can even dream of in this moment.

Let God be in charge.

Your thinking becomes transformed with the realization that God is always with you, that you are cared for and protected wherever you go. God is every where present and all powerful. There is no limitation of time or space in Spirit. God is with you in your home, at work, or in a totally new environment. God is with you as you drive your car, ride with another, or travel in an airplane, train or bus. God is with you at night just as God is with you on the brightest day.

Let God be in charge.

God blesses you right where you are and goes before you to make your way safe. Feeling safe and secure, you enjoy the people you meet and the places you visit. You are safe and secure in God’s care. You also realize if this is true for you, it is true for your loved ones, and friends. God is with them too.

POSITIVE PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear God, I pray that I can look past trouble and not get caught up in worry or being anxious about the situation.

I remind myself during this prayer that You are in charge.

You are in charge of my life, and the lives of those that I hold dear. I may not know, God, how a troubling or distressing situation can be solved, but I put my total trust in You knowing that You will guard me in all Your ways.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

Many people that are reading today’s Positive Daily Inspiration are facing a crossroad in life. Crossroads often cause indecision, fear, and worry within the confused human mind.

Pray for God’s help to open your mind to accept ideas from above in order to open your receptivity to the Divine ideas of God that can put your life back on track again.

Are you facing a crossroad in your life and need to know which way to turn? We are praying with people, today, that are facing crossroads decisions in their lives. In prayer, we ask you to join us – turn to the power of God for inspiration and direction.

God will give you guidance. God will express through you as intelligence and wisdom far greater than your own. Through God, you are capable of making right decisions! As you turn to God, you are inspired by God. As you turn to God, worry and fear begin to diminish. You now open your mind and heart to God’s Divine ideas.

God is your source of continuous direction. You turn to God, and you know what to do and how to accomplish the best results, all the time.

No decision is too difficult for God, and therefore, no decision is too difficult for you. No course of action is unclear when you rely on God for guidance and direction. Your way is revealed as you turn to God for Divine council.

God guides you and directs you, and you are able to see with clarity the way before you. God goes ahead of you on your path preparing the way for your good. With God, with you, and within you, you are motivated to take the steps you need to take to ensure your success.

Do you connect “if only” statements to your thinking and speaking about tomorrow? “If only I had the time and money to further my education … the ways and means to meet the perfect companion … the opportunity to prove my own value and worth to my family, supervisors, or friends.”

When you question your own ability, you are sowing your seeds of faith on rocky ground and in thorny places. To have a happy and successful life, we need to sow our seeds of faith in good soil of putting our faith in God. God turns all “if only” thoughts to strong beliefs of “I have everything I need right now.”

Remember, in the Bible, in Matthew 13:8, it states, “other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some hundredfold.” The Bible promises a hundred fold return on the gifts we give to life through action and faith.

Put your faith in God, who has already put faith in you. God loves you and believes in you. God wants you to be successful. Believe with God that you can do wondrous things.

God fills you with Divine ideas as you travel your life’s path. As you use the ideas you receive in times of quiet prayer and meditation or busy activity, you are successful and fulfilled.

It is in the Holy moment of prayer that we come into the realization of God’s perfect life of each one of us in potential. May we now become fully aware of our true spiritual identity as a child of God. May we be given knowledge from on high about what we are heir to. May we now have our human minds empowered so that we can comprehend the incomprehensible. May we understand who we are and what part we play in God’s plan.

We rest our minds, our hearts, our bodies, and indeed all our circumstances of our lives in that perfect oneness of the wonderful presence of God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

We feel the great sense of God’s omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence.

In this moment of prayer, I am acutely aware of Your presence, and Your power touching my individual life. I release any tiredness within my brain and accept the renewing of God’s energy within my physical body. My soul is infilled with Your renewable power. I feel re-created by You my dear Creator.

Thank You, God, for the fullness of Thy Being expressing through me now, and for the joy of knowing that You are with me now.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Thank You, God, that I may lift up all the cares of my life into the light of Your Presence and release them there. We find all needed adjustments and we find the spirit of Thy spiritual success.

You now give over to God any need of healing, any need for peace, any desire for success and lets the joy of fulfillment pour through the soul and out into the world of expression.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Feel the joy! Feel the love! Feel the deep inner satisfaction that comes by knowing that life itself is adequate to supply all our needs and fulfill all our dreams, because our lives are each connected to our Creator.

Thank you God for Your ever-present help in my life and in the lives of my loved ones.

I pray now for my loved ones and friends. I ask You dear God to watch over my loved ones and friends. Be with everyone in such a direct way that they cannot miss your guidance and help in their minds. Strengthen and renew their bodies with health. Renew and energize their motivation to do the right thing all the time. Bless their lives with Divine ideas and lasting abundance.

Thank you God for again answering my every prayer in most profound way.

One day an out of work mime is visiting the zoo and attempts to earn some money as a street performer.

Unfortunately, as soon as he starts to draw a crowd, the zoo keeper grabs him and drags him into his office.

The zoo keeper explains to the mime that the zoo’s most popular attraction, a gorilla, has died suddenly. The keeper fears that attendance at the zoo will fall off. He offers the mime a job to dress up as the gorilla until they can get another one. The mime accepts.

So the next morning the mime puts on the gorilla suit and enters the cage before crowd comes. He discovers that it’s a great job. He can sleep all he wants, play and make fun of people and he draws bigger crowds than he ever did as a mime.

However, eventually the crowds tire of him and he gets bored just swinging on tires. He begins to notice that the people are paying more attention to the lion in the cage next to his. Not wanting to lose the attention of his audience, he climbs to the top of his cage, crawls across a partition, and dangles from the top to the lion’s cage. Of course, this makes the lion furious, but the crowd loves it.

At the end of the day the zoo keeper comes and gives the mime a raise for being such a good attraction as a gorilla.

Well, this goes on for some time, the mime keeps taunting the lion, the crowds grow larger, and his salary keeps going up. Then one terrible day when he is dangling over the furious lion he slips and falls. The mime is terrified. The lion gathers itself and prepares to pounce. The mime is so scared that he begins to run round and round the cage with the lion close behind. Finally, the mime starts screaming, yelling, “Help, Help me” but the lion is quick and pounces.

The mime soon finds himself flat on his back looking up at the angry lion and the lion says, “Shut up you idiot! Do you want to get us both fired?”

$5.37! That’s what the kid behind the counter at Taco Bell said to me. I dug into my pocket and pulled out some lint and two dimes and something that used to be a Jolly Rancher.

Having already handed the kid a five-spot, I started to head back out to the truck to grab some change when the kid with the Elmo hairdo said the hardest thing anyone has ever said to me.

He said, “It’s OK. I’ll just give you the senior citizen discount.”

I turned to see who he was talking to and then heard the sound of change hitting the counter in front of me. “Only $4.68” he said cheerfully.

I stood there stupefied. I am 56, not even 60 yet? A mere child! Senior citizen?

I took my burrito and walked out to the truck wondering what was wrong with Elmo. Was he blind?

As I sat in the truck, my blood began to boil. Old? Me?

I’ll show him, I thought. I opened the door and headed back inside. I strode to the counter, and there he was waiting with a smile.

Before I could say a word, he held up something and jingled it in front of me, like I could be that easily distracted! What am I now? A toddler?

“Dude! Can’t get too far without your car keys, eh?” I stared with utter disdain at the keys. I began to rationalize in my mind.

“Leaving keys behind hardly makes a man elderly! It could happen to anyone!”

I turned and headed back to the truck. I slipped the key into the ignition, but it wouldn’t turn.

What now? I checked my keys and tried another. Still nothing.

That’s when I noticed the purple beads hanging from my rear view mirror. I had no purple beads hanging from my rear view mirror.

Then, a few other objects came into focus. The car seat in the back seat. Happy Meal toys spread all over the floorboard. A partially eaten doughnut on the dashboard.

Faster than you can say ginkgo biloba, I flew out of the alien vehicle.

Moments later I was speeding out of the parking lot, relieved to finally be leaving this nightmarish stop in my life. That is when I felt it, deep in the bowels of my stomach: hunger! My stomach growled and churned, and I reached to grab my burrito, only it was nowhere to be found.

I swung the truck around, gathered my courage, and strode back into the restaurant one final time.

There Elmo stood, draped in youth and black nail polish. All I could think was, “What is the world coming to?”

All I could say was, “Did I leave my food and drink in here”? At this point I was ready to ask a Boy Scout to help me back to my vehicle, and then go straight home and apply for Social Security benefits.

Elmo had no clue. I walked back out to the truck, and suddenly a young lad came up and tugged on my jeans to get my attention. He was holding up a drink and a bag. His mother explained, “I think you left this in my truck by mistake.”

I took the food and drink from the little boy and sheepishly apologized.

She offered these kind words: “It’s OK. My grandfather does stuff like this all the time.”

All of this is to explain how I got a ticket doing 85 in a 40. Yes, I was racing some kid in a Toyota Prius. And no, I told the officer, I’m not too old to be driving this fast.

As I walked in the front door, my wife met me halfway down the hall. I handed her a bag of cold food and a $300 speeding ticket. I promptly sat in my rocking chair and covered up my legs with a blankey.

The good news was I had successfully found my way home.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk!

I have a good sense of humor, it is God-given and increasing every day as I experience the joy in life.

DADDY’S EMPTY CHAIR

A man’s daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.

“I guess you were expecting me,” he said. “No, who are you?” said the father. The minister told him his name and then remarked, “I saw the empty chair, and I figured you knew I was going to show up.” “Oh yeah, the chair,” said the bedridden man. “Would you mind closing the door?”

Puzzled, the minister shut the door. “I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,” said the man. “But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head.

“I abandoned any attempt at prayer,” the old man continued, “until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me, ‘Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest. Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It’s not spooky because he promised, ‘I will be with you always.’ Then just speak to him in the same way you’re doing with me right now.’ So, I tried it, and I’ve liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I’m careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she’d either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.”

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church.

Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. “Did he die in peace?” he asked. “Yes, when I left the house about two o’clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me, and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead.

But there was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed.

What do you make of that?”

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, “I wish we could all go like that.”

Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive.

I asked God for water; God gave me an ocean.

COME UNTO ME

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

People confide that sometimes their lives seem to be chaotic as they come to terms with new ideas, or just opening their minds and hearts to a seemingly larger spirituality.

Some are able to keep their sense of humor; while others begin the fall into overwhelming feelings caused by uprooting themselves from a comfortable place to an unfamiliar place; but all are affected, deeply, by the transitions within their lives.

I am reminded, many times, as I listen to others and within my own life, of a cartoon character, running out of the door of his home, screaming and pulling out his hair – running away from a comical, but real, situation that he just cannot seem to handle adequately. The immediate picture, in my mind, is one of relief, thinking that the character is running away from his overwhelming and crazy situation, but then, I wonder to where is he running? I know that wherever he goes, there he is.

We really cannot run from our lives and from our situations, effectively. So, what do we do in these times of chaos, these times of transitions when it seems as though we just cannot take one more moment of the craziness?

Jesus said, “Come unto me.” That is what we must do, if we are to keep our sanity (or maybe even regain it). We must rest. We must rest amid all the chaos around us. God does not give us more than we can handle, in any moment – truly.

Are you doing too much? More than is needed at any moment that you feel overwhelmed? What must you really do? What can wait, until the next moment, or hour, or day? Procrastination is not necessary. But taking each task in its best and appropriate time and order is necessary. If we are multi-taskers, we still have a limit of what we can do at one time. If we are not multi-taskers, we can only do one thing at a time.

So, “Come unto me,” as Jesus said. Take a breath … and rest. Maybe the rest is purely mental. Rest. Let go of the chain of chattering thoughts and rest. Be filled with God’s purpose and joy, as your transition happens, whatever it may be. Maybe the rest is physical.

Rest.

Allow yourself to take breaks, even small ones. You will have greater energy, afterwards, and will probably even accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.

As we continue through each day of our lives, we remember the words, “Come unto me.” Whether we are going through transitions, or whether we are just going through a day, we remember, “Come unto me.” We rest as we need to. We rest in God.

As we rest in God, we are filled with God’s awesome strength and peace of mind. We are filled with the knowingness that we are doing the best we can with what we have to work with, at any given time.

God fills us, always, with the peace that we are fulfilling our purpose, one moment at a time. God fills us with the joy of life as we move from moment to moment, day to day, seeing and appreciating all that is before us. God fills us with unconditional love, for ourselves and for others, as we realize that all is truly well.

“Come unto me.”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, today I come to You.
I ask you to relieve the tension in my mind and body and give me lasting peace.

I pray that You, dear God, will give me a vision of brighter tomorrows.

“God is at work in you, both to will and to work for God’s good pleasure.”

Today, you let go and let God’s life flow through you. God does God’s perfect work in you and through you. You are healthy, whole, and vitally alive.

You let go and let God’s wisdom flow through you. God does God’s perfect work in you, and right paths are revealed.

You let go and let God’s love flow through you. God’s love governs every one of your actions. God does God’s perfect work in you, and you are blessed with harmonious and happy relationships.

You let go and let God’s abundance flow through you. All thoughts of lack and limitation are cleansed from your mind. God does God’s perfect work in you, and good overflows into your life and everything that pertains to your life.

You let go and you let God’s peace flow through you. The peace that passes understanding fills your mind and heart. God does God’s perfect work in you, and peace flows out from you to encompass your world.

When we let go of our lower, human ways of trying to do things, or trying to push things our way, we find new freedom instead of slavery to old habits.

In Galatians 5:1, our Bible states, “For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.”

Is there some habit, some attitude, some way of thinking, some way of meeting life, from which you would like to be free?

You let go and you let God’s freeing power flow through you. You declare in prayer, “I am free!” You are free, and you do not need to continue in a way of life that you feel is not serving a good purpose. As you pray, you feel God supporting and sustaining you. You can let go of that which you do not want, that which is not positive and constructive.

Your next step is always to accept the good that you desire from God. You are free to be and to do that which you long to be and to do, and it is up to you to accept your good from God. Jesus said that you could do great things. You let go of the old and you let God’s life flow through you. This is the day that the Lord has given you to declare your freedom and to accept your good.

You are not bound to old habits, old ways, and old frustrations. God does God’s perfect work in you, and you are vitally, positively alive.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

I thank You, God; I follow Jesus by trusting you. I know that You are with me and my dear ones. I thank You, Dear God, for your goodness. I have faith that nothing can stand between me and my good. I know that God’s will for me is good and the only good.

In great gratitude and thanksgiving, I now turn everything over to God.
