All humans have mood swings. It is a normal part of life, but the important thing is that we do not take up residence in the valley of the downward swing. Sometimes we need help lifting ourselves up again and this is what today’s Positive Daily Inspiration is about.

Many of the people that we hear from have good reason for feeling downcast now, losing jobs, losing their homes, or the death of dear one.

Life can contain both incredible highs and also incredible lows. But it is not God’s will for any of us that we stay in the downcast valleys for long.

Do you ever have days were you feel out of step with life? Do you experience times when you feel out of step with the world and reluctant to face a new day?

All of us feel out of step at one time or another, but these feelings need not persist.

Right now, as you read this Positive Daily Inspiration, relax, and turn your thoughts to God. God has the answer.

God IS the answer.

The Creator can also re-create your mood. The Creator can give you a vision of the best time in your life ahead on your path.

What a feeling of comfort and strength we receive when we realize that we are in never apart from God, and that we live in God’s presence! The solution to any problem lies between us and God. When we turn away from doubt, bad moods and fear, we open the way for God to show us the path to our highest good. With God as our partner, we find the perfect answer and the right course to follow. We synchronize our steps with God’s. As we raise our thinking and keep our awareness at a high level this day becomes full and rewarding.

A person may be in such a state of mental and emotional depression that he or she may believe that God is far from them and no help is available for them.

“Where shall I go from Thy presence? Or where shall I flee from Thy presence?” To go from God’s Spirit or to flee from God’s presence does not mean to travel to some far place in the earth, but rather to separate ourselves from God in thought and feeling. Even in such a state of mind, God is there. We may not be aware of it because of our own mental state, but God is still there.

Though we may deny God’s presence, God is with us. No matter what religion we call ourselves, or if we profess no faith at all, God is still there waiting and willing. What we say about God says more about us than about God.

Some feel they have lost God, but God is not lost and God has not lost us. God is with us wherever we are, whatever our state of mind or emotions.

If we need more help, we become open to all avenues, including medical, knowing that God is the creator and inventor behind medications.

Depression will have no real power over us. It will pass. Darkness will give way to light. We will rise up into a happier state through God’s Spirit and by God’s power.

One of the greatest things that you can tell yourself over and over is that this which you are experiencing is just temporary — not permanent.

It has come to pass; it has not come to stay!

Like the psalmist we can know:

“If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:
Dear God, I come to You in my hour of need. I ask You to touch my mind, and uplift my thoughts, change my seeming realities that I’m thinking about my life, change my opinion of what is, and what can be.

God, I ask that You will give me a sense of well-being again.

I pray that You will help me find my smile, both on my face and in my soul.

God I cannot do this one by myself, so I turn to You, and I surrender.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen

My friend Catherine Ponder writes, “When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free.”

When you forgive another, you forgive yourself; you become a freed person instead of a slave. When the Bible says, forgive and you will be forgiven, it speaks profound spiritual truth.

To forgive sets the prisoner free, and then to discover that prisoner was you!

One of the greatest actions you can take in promoting harmony and peace within your own life and in the lives of others is to forgive – fully and completely.

More than anything else, forgiveness is an attitude of heart and spirit that, when used regularly, will grow stronger and stronger. Yet before you can truly begin to forgive others, you must learn to forgive yourself – and so, you begin WITH YOU this week.

Any mistakes that you have made in the past are over and done with now! You constantly keep in mind that you are a work in progress, that there has been something to learn from the experiences you have had. Because you have broken free of any negativity from the past, you are capable of forgiving yourself and others fully and completely.

Yesterday has come and gone, and the time is now – a time to forgive yourself – a time to forgive others.

As you decide to finally to do this, you will see a new day dawning in your life, for you will become like a little child again free of the memories of resentment.

Do not be weak in this. Gandhi stated it best, “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” I believe this to be so true, for I have seen unforgiveness consume until the poison of its’ disease becomes manifest in the physical body making a person weaker, and weaker.

It is better to forgive sooner, instead of later. As Jesus said, not seven times, but seventy TIMES seven – in other words as many times as it takes, to free you once and for all from our self-imposed prisons.

Unforgiveness is the biggest block we have inside ourselves blocking our good for manifesting in our lives.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me today to forgive myself and let my past go. Infill me with your love, so much so, that it overflows from me on to my concept of others. I pray that I am able to fully forgive and release all those that I have held within the bondage of my own mind.

Help me to set the prisoners free, including me.

In Jesus Christ’s name I follow … Amen

In Genesis, the book of the beginning, it says, “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth … And God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” [Genesis 1:27-28, 31].

Let us, during this prayer time, cast off the feeling of limitation and frustration that keeps us from being what we were created to be. Our Creator believes in us. Every creator worthy of the name believes in his or her creation.

God believes in you!

Even in the midst of your sense of separation, when you have a mistaken identity, a false sense of self, your Creator believes in you. Even in the dark night of your soul, (which is a time when all seems lost), God believes in you. Even when you fail to hear or turn away from the call of greatness that urges you to return to your Source, God believes in you.

God believes in you. God has faith in you. God believes in me. Think about that for a moment and allow it to empower you:

God believes in me.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

God has faith in you. Because God believes in you, you can believe in God’s handiwork in you. You can have faith in God’s image in you. Take heart.

Listen to the following words and allow me to speak that silent voice inside of you.

God believes in me. God has faith in me. God created me in God’s image and after God’s likeness. My Creator believes in me. God put the Divine spirit within me. God knows the stuff of which I am made, and God has faith in me. I will no longer judge with my eyes and my ears. If others lose their faith in me, and even if I lose my faith in myself, God, You never lose your faith in me. You always believe in me. God always trusts the Divine handiwork coming through me. God, I thank You for believing in me.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

I am God’s creation. I believe in God as my Creator. My heavenly God and I are one–one in faith, one in belief, one in trust. A life energy is released in you as you meditate on these truths about you. The words are the leading edge of a whole new state of faith believing in and trusting in God, and in the image or individualization of God that you are.

Accept this truth about you right now, in a moment of silence in prayer …

I am filled and fulfilled by the growing realization that God has faith in me, and I have faith in God. God believes in me. I believe in God. God trusts me. I trust God. What a glorious partnership, in faith, my Creator shares with me.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

God has never left you. God has never forsaken you. God has loved you with an everlasting love. With a loving kindness, God has drawn us and awakened us. This is the revelation of the One who believes in us.

It is God’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom, not because we have worked hard to earn it or that we merit it, but because of the grace of our Creator who believes in us.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

We are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, all our souls, all our minds, all our strength, and our neighbor as ourselves. This is the natural expectation of the Creator who believes in us, and who knows the stuff we are made of. God expects us to believe in the Divine, to believe in ourselves, and to believe in our neighbor as God does.

As we close this wonderful time of prayer with God, we are to let our light shine in such a way that all who see it will know that its source is the God of light inside us and in them. This is the radiant desire of our Creator who believes in us.

In the nature of Jesus Christ, we pray … Amen.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons and daughters of God.”
Matthew 5:9

What a changed world it would be if everyone actually became a peacemaker. There is a song that is sung in many churches across the country, it includes this line, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” Everyone reading this should pray for the power today to become a peacemaker for God. Living for peace should become a vital living part of our everyday lives in our homes and in our workplaces. Astonishing changes would take place almost immediately in us and in the world if we followed through on this simple harmonious action.

We let peace begin with us by blessing, instead of criticizing or resenting anyone or anything. Happily, we find that when we let go of critical, resentful thoughts and feelings, we bring peace to human relationships, and we are filled with peace in our own minds and hearts.

If you are upset or unhappy with your home environment or with your place of work or business, you can bring peace to your environment. Act as a center of God’s light, understanding and love by letting peace begin with you.

We are each a channel for the outpouring of the peace of God. Through our positive and loving thoughts, words, and activities, we convey the peace of God to our world.

As we release inharmonious thoughts, we experience the peace of God within us. We can each create an atmosphere of peace as we radiate good to others. Our goodwill expands in ever-increasing circles and includes ever-increasing numbers of people in a blessing of peace.

We fully realize our own responsibility in creating and maintaining peace – in our relationships, in our homes, and in our workplaces – and throughout the world.

So, we do what we can to promote peace. We are loving and kind, and we live by the Golden Rule. Above all else, we recognize the importance of maintaining a vision of peace on earth, and the vision of the world as God created it to be.

In our mind’s eye, we see a world that is filled with love, a world where goodwill exists among all nations with people working together and helping one another without thought for personal gain. Yes, God is everywhere, and we know that the earth is truly the home God lovingly prepared for all.

Dear God, today make me an instrument of Your peace.

1. One of life’s mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a people gain 5 lbs.

2. My mind not only wanders; it sometimes leaves completely.

4. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don’t know what you are doing, someone else does.

5. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

6. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today …

7. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

8. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my underwear …

9. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!

10. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like … ‘You know sometimes I forget to eat!’ … Now I’ve forgotten my address, my mother’s maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat!

Do not talk to my parrot!

Wanda’s dishwasher quit working so she called in a repair person. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told the repairman, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I will mail you a check. Oh, don’t worry about my dog Spike. He won’t bother you.”

“But, whatever you do, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, talk to my parrot!”

“I MUST STRESS TO YOU: DO NOT TALK TO MY PARROT!!!”

When the repairman arrived at Wanda’s apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest, meanest looking dog he has ever seen. But, just as she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work.

The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling.

Finally, the repair person could not contain himself any longer and yelled,

“Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!”

To which the parrot replied, “Get him Spike!”

SATURDAY INSPIRATION

“I fear no evil; for Thou art with me.” Psalms 23:4

Being a veterinarian, I had been called by a client to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we could not do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy accepted Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I had never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try to live.

He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog were the teacher, you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you are happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I want to be freed to enter into a new way of life, a new thought about myself, a new realization of the spiritual self that is all conquering, triumphant, and free. I bless any unhappy situation in my life; I cease wrestling with the angel and pronounce it good.

I consent to Your presence and Your power.

A spiritual person has a hidden curriculum in every day’s activity to do good instead of bad. As we grow physically and spiritually, we should also grow in our ability to live a life of goodness.

Look for ways to do goodness every day for the sake of goodness, not for the sake of gain.

You are filled with wonder as you think about God’s plan of good being disclosed to you. Each person and situation in your life holds the seed of a blessing. That seed of blessing goes both ways. You look for the good in yourself and others, and you promote it through words and actions. You give thanks for your good even if it is not yet visible.

You are so aware of God’s good for you, and coming through you, that you are filled with gratitude. You rejoice because you know that you can make a difference. Anyone who promotes good makes a positive difference.

When you are experiencing a challenge, or a dear one is experiencing a challenge, look for ways to do good things; it will make you feel better, and it may change the other person’s life. Decide today not to stand on the sidelines waiting for others to do good – you get into the game of life and you win – doing good.

Good always wins in the end.

Look back on your life on all the good that has come to you. Look back on the good that others have brought into your life and give thanks for it. Be thankful for all the blessings that you have already received. God has brought continuous good, more than you were aware of at the time. God has touched your life beyond what you could have imagined. You give thanks for the gifts of good in this present moment and you joyfully anticipate greater good still to come.

One of the great spiritual blessings in life is found in this truth: you cannot give it away – it comes back to you multiplied over and over.

The good you do will be a magnet that draws to you a like kind of good, but multiplied, because good sent forth is like to seed.

You think thoughts that are magnets of good. You move in actions that are magnets of good.

You fill your mind with thoughts of Divine goodness. Thinking about the renewing goodness of God surging through every part of your body now, you feel a new sense of goodness pouring forth from the center of you to the circumference.

You meditate on God’s presence of goodness indwelling you, and the wellspring of goodness bubbling up from within you. God will touch you giving you the gifts to promote upliftment, and blessing wherever you go.

All your relationships are blessed by the harmony of God’s good expressing through you. With your thoughts and actions centered on God, you call upon the riches of the kingdom, and all those around you will sense and feel the difference.

When you do good, you become the second “O” in God, a child of the living God, a co-creator with the Creator.

You Are the Light of the World

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

There is an old saying, referring to a person that is definitely not living up to his or her potential, “The light is on, BUT NOBODY IS HOME!”

When people look at you I pray that they will say of you, “The light is on, and someone IS home.”

I have many good lamps in my house, but my lamps are only as good as the bulb that is within them.

A relative of mine recently told me to go to Big Lots. This is a store that sells a lot of good stuff for astonishing low prices. I bought a floor reading lamp to put by my chair that is supposed to duplicate sunlight making it easier to read.

The first night it worked great and then it stopped. Reading that the neon light bulb should have a life expectancy of seven years, I was sure that it was the lamp itself. I took back the lamp only to be shown that it was the bulb, and not the wiring in the lamp.

The same could be said of us. The wiring is okay, we just need a new bulb. The light of God is the illumination we seek to utilize.

One of my lights in my dining room has a rheostat on it, which controls the amount of light that is sent out to the room no matter what the wattage of the bulb is.

I’ve always thought that was silly, because I like to see what I’m eating.

If you were a light bulb, what wattage would you be?

Is your rheostat turned down low?

You have the ability to have God’s light come through you, but you also have the ability to say no with free will and dim the light that could have had so much potential to do good through you.

Decide today to let your light shine. Decide that with God’s help you will not cover up the light that has been God-given. Ask God to give you the gift of increasing the brightness of your soul light. Pray that you can eliminate darkness, and even the shadows, by your presence.

I remember the story of the dear woman that had car trouble on a deserted highway in the middle of the night. On a stretch of highway in Illinois that was barely traveled in the daytime, she found herself stranded about midnight. It was beginning to get cold. I asked her, “Were you scared?”

And she said, “I was, in the pitch darkness, but then I saw the light of a farmhouse in the distance.”

When we are in darkness, and see and sense the light of God we are no longer scared. We follow God by agreeing not to hide our light, but to shine fully so that others may see.

You can eliminate darkness in others by shining your God-given light. You may never know the profound difference that you may make. It takes just a little more effort to let your light shine, than to hide in the darkness waiting for someone else’s light.

You are the light of the world!

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray that I become the light in my world.

I choose to not allow my light to be hidden anymore.

I choose to give my light to all in my house, in my place of employment, and in my daily life.

I will let my light so shine before friends, family and acquaintances that all that may see that Your good works coming through me will give glory to You.

I invite you to turn up the rheostat and increase the wattage of my personal illumination.

May I light the path of those that find themselves in darkness. During this day, I choose to follow You in this way.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen.

Your Search

It has been said, only the curious have something to find.

Be curious about everything in your life. Never get to the point of not seeing. Be curious on your job and be curious in your creativity.

Vincent Van Gogh stated, “I am an artist … It is self-evident that what that implies is looking for something all the time without ever finding it IN FULL. It is the opposite of saying, ‘I know all about it. I have already found it. As far as I am concerned the statement means, ‘I am looking. I am hunting for it. I am deeply involved.’

In our lives we should be looking for something all the time without ever finding it IN FULL. There is yet more to be discovered and we will surprise ourselves at how good the discovery is. Have you ever reread a book and saw all the things you missed the first time? If you could relive any day of your life, you would be astonished at what you missed. We must always have seeking eyes in the quest of seeing more, not less. For when we see more, we are bound to see the good and find God.

And even in finding God, there is always more to God to learn and experience. After almost 3 decades, which is truer now than it was in the beginning for me.

Perhaps the search of a lifetime is within ourselves. Joseph Campbell stated, “The place to find is within yourself.”

In a story told in many traditions and versions, a man is crouched over the ground at night under a lamp post obviously looking for something. A passerby asks, “Have you lost something?”

“Yes, my key,” he says.

“Did you lose it here?”

“No”, he says, “over there, but there’s light over here.”

We often search in the easiest way possible, the way of least resistance, and that is why we often miss finding the spiritual treasure.

If you have been searching your heart in mind for an answer but have not yet found it, what do you do then?

Your search is not over until you have searched your spirit, until you have pushed aside the facts and figures, advice and recommendations, and simply asked, “God, what IS the answer?”

Then you let God bring the best answers to your conscious awareness. The decision you are to make may come to your attention when you are in prayer, or at rest, when you are in some activity or in conversation.

I will often pray about something, and then later in the day when I’m relaxed and taking a walk, the answer instantaneously pops into my mind.

There is a surge of spiritual energy that identifies the decision so that you know, “Yes! This is it!”

Even if doubts do resurface, you will make the best decision because you are including God in your search.
