Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for … THAT’S GOD … talking to you.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to … THAT’S GOD … wanting you to talk to God.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven’t seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them … THAT’S GOD … there is no such thing as “coincidence.”

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn’t even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn’t afford … THAT’S GOD … God knows the desires of your heart.

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it … THAT’S GOD … God passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day.

Have you ever had the urge to make peace with someone that you have been warring with … ? THAT’S GOD!

Have you ever been overly stubborn and then out of the blue you had the desire to cooperate … THAT’S GOD!

Everything you see with your human eyes that is about you came into being through cooperation. Think about it. Your home, your food, and your clothing are the result of cooperation. The world you dream of, the perfect world God meant humans to live in is evolving through the cooperation of humans with other humans and between God and humans.

If you doubt for a moment the power of cooperation, you might ask an astronaut aboard the space shuttle if he or she could have done any of the tasks without the cooperation of many minds and hands.

We can do great things through the cooperation of prayers of many hearts.

Let us consider how we can better cooperate with each other, with family members, with neighbors, with people that we work with, with our community and with our world.

Let us make today a 24-hour period of cooperation.

Let us think of ways in which we can help and bless one another. Cooperation involves consideration, team determination, and positive action.

I am cooperator … THAT’S ME!

A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party.

Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice.

After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, “What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you’re out of the office?”

“I give it to them,” replied the lawyer, “and then I send them a bill.”

The doctor was shocked but agreed to give it a try.

The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills.

When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.

A guy is driving around, and he sees a sign in front of a house: “Rare Talking Dog for Sale.”

He rings the bell, and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a Labrador retriever sitting there.

“You talk?” he asks.

“Yep,” the Lab replies.

“So, what’s your story?”

The Lab looks up and says, “Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young, and I wanted to help the government; so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running.

“But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn’t getting any younger so I wanted to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I’m just retired.”

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

“Ten dollars.”

“This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?”

“Because he’s a liar. He didn’t do any of that stuff.”

A minister dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly gates.

Ahead of him is a guy who’s dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket, and jeans.

Saint Peter addresses the man wearing somewhat sloppy clothes. “Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven?”

The guy replies, “I’m Jack Thomas, Jr., taxi driver, of Noo Yawk City.”

Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the taxi driver, “Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”

The taxi driver goes into Heaven with his robe and staff.

Then it’s the minister’s turn. He stands up tall and booms out, “I am Joseph Snow, pastor of Saint Mary’s Church for the last forty-three years.”

Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the minister, “Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”

“Just a minute,” says the minister. “That man before me was a taxi driver, and he gets a silken robe and golden staff. Why, how can this be?

Saint Peter looks to the preacher and says, “Up here, we work by results. While you preached, people slept. While Jack drove, people prayed.”

Dear God, I worship You this day. If I haven’t gone to church in awhile, I will find a church near me and go. I realize it is not the name on the sign, but the sign in my heart that it is time to commune with You again in prayer and worship. It is wonderful to be alive, and to fully be conscious of that gift.

“THIS IS GOOD!”

The story is told of a king in Africa who had a close friend with whom he grew up. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) and remarking, “This is good!”

One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off.

Examining the situation, the friend remarked as usual, “This is good!”

To which the king replied, “No, this is NOT good!” and proceeded to send his friend to jail.

About a year later, the king was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear of.

Cannibals captured him and took them to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set up a stake and bound him to the stake.

As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb.

Being superstitious, they never ate anyone that was less than whole. So, untying the king, they sent him on his way.

As he returned home, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend. He went immediately to the jail to speak with his friend.

“You were right,” he said, “It was good that my thumb was blown off.” And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. “And so, I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this.”

“No,” his friend replied, “This is good!”

“What do you mean, ‘This is good’? How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a year?”

“If I had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you.” Situations may not always seem pleasant while we are in them, but the promise of God is clear.

If we love God and live our lives according to God’s precepts, even that which seems to be bleak and hopeless will be turned by God for God’s glory and our benefit.

Hold on, God is faithful!

Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to God’s purpose.”

God, I Am Trusting

“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is in the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water; sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8

At all times God has your back. Wherever you go, whatever you do, know that God is with you. Place your full trust in God.

One of my favorite spiritual writers was Mary Kupferle.

She would say over and over again, “God, I am trusting!”

She repeated this in a quiet but firm manner, and she said the burden was lifted and the problem was solved.

Perhaps you think that your problems are more complicated and involved, and that you can’t accomplish the desired miracle of healing or harmony or supply with such a small and simple prayer. No matter what your problem, no matter how great or small its size, God never fails. But you must learn to turn to God in order to receive the blessings that you desire. This is what the little prayer, “God, I am trusting!” helps you do. It turns your thoughts and attention to God who is the source of all your blessings, and the Creator of your being.

Sometimes you and I may feel that an old condition or difficulty is too deeply embedded in our minds, bodies, or lives to come out easily by using so simple a prayer. We may feel that we need some great soul-lifting realization or some inspiring revelation to break our bonds and set us free.

Jesus often said that He, of Himself, could do nothing. He knew the futility of forcing matters or of trying to accomplish things by means of personal will and human reasoning. He knew the truth that it is always God who does the work. Jesus told His followers this, and He told them only to believe, to trust, and to know that God knew their needs, desires, and purposes better than they themselves.

This is still the Masters advice to you and to me today; namely, to trust God’s power above the power of humans. This is what we do when we say, “God, I am trusting!”

All the most poetic and beautifully worded prayers in the world can’t bring us any closer to God than are speaking this simple prayer directly from our hearts.

When the Master raised Lazarus from the dead, His words were simple ones. He said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me.”
John 11:41

Is this much different from “God, I am trusting?” The Master’s prayers were always simple ones, and ours should follow the pattern He set. The complexity of the problem did not alter Jesus’ simplicity of action, and it does not need to alter ours. We are not to try to impress God or anyone else, but only come closer to a living awareness of the presence of God.

This is what this simple prayer accomplishes, so that we may dislodge any negative belief from a place in our consciousness by a small but persistent prayer that helps us to become consciously more aware of God.

You can rise above your difficulties through persistent, small prayers. The turning of the moment is the important thing, and this turning of our attention to God – the all-powerful ever-present God – is the way to find God and the solution to our problems. The more often we turn to God, the more often we are consciously with God. The more we are consciously with God, the more like God we consciously become, demonstrating perfection in our minds, bodies, and lives.

You will find God very near – as the faith of your heart, the guidance you desire, and the light of inspiration.

When you invest 100% of yourself in God, you will find the 100% returns what you are looking for. When you begin to invest yourself – your thoughts and words and actions – in God, you will find that you express more of God and you will find the truth and perfection of the kingdom becoming more evident in your daily life.

Trusting and returning to God in prayer, know that God’s power is unfailing and is available to you whenever you are willing to become aware of it in your life.

God, I am trusting! Strive to trust in absolute trust in God.

One of the vital steps in establishing the healing of the whole person is to talk health, at all times, instead of constantly talking about sickness. Since God is constantly healing and restoring you, you can be assured that your natural state is one of health, strength, and wholeness.

The eventual goal is getting a person to totally accept God’s complete healing power. You can hold to your faith in the healing power of God – ever working within you. Even when you are among others that are disquieted by the symptoms of illness, by speaking positive words of health, you find your faith and your strength fortified as anxious thoughts disappear. You become a personal witness to God accomplishing Divine healing work, right now

When you fully realize that God sees you as you are – radiant, strong, happy, and free -you can discard anxious thoughts of limited vitality. You will establish through your faith an abiding awareness of God’s perfect life working within you, night and day — always at work, rebuilding and rejuvenating you, in seen and unseen ways.

Before your body can perform an action, it must first receive direction from the brain. As you constantly think about walking, running, sitting, or standing, your mind unconsciously sends the proper messages to the various parts of your body, and you are able to perform the task.

In a similar way, you can direct your body to be healthy and strong. When you positively affirm in prayer that you are an expression of the life-giving Spirit of God, your body responds by outpicturing the reality of wholeness and well-being.

The Spirit of God, mighty within you, fortifies you with healing thoughts. You envision your muscles and joints working in harmony. You imagine each cell and organ renewed and filled with the vibrancy of Spirit. You are filled with energy and strength.

You hold to the truth of God’s healing life in you, knowing that it blesses you with every beat of your heart, with every breath you take. You do not need to know how healing takes place, ONLY THAT IT DOES. You appreciate those who believe with you that you are being healed, who assist you through the healing process. You bless all of the doctors, and the God inspired medicines.

Just as relevant, you do not let the negative opinions of others interfere with your healing. God is life, and God life is healing you now.

You hold to the truth of God’s healing life in others, also. No matter what the appearances may be, you know with them, and for them, that they are being healed. As you join with Positive Christianity in healing prayer, you are upheld by continuous, life-affirming prayer. Together, we hold to the truth: God’s healing life is actively blessing all

We live in a changing world, and change is inevitable.

If you are facing some kind of change in life, you meet it with God. You meet it with faith and courage. You keep in mind that change is the nature of this world. Change can mean progress and more and better good in your life. You keep in mind that God is the One Presence, the One Power in your life, and that all of the circumstances of your life are in God’s care and keeping. You know that although things change, God’s presence that is with you never changes. God’s love never ceases. God’s guidance is continuous.

You do not resist change or face it fearfully. Instead, you bless it, and you flow with it. You know that ultimate good will be the outcome. Your faith in God insures that you will be in the right place at the right time. You will have the right circumstances to receive your God-given good. You rest in this knowledge that God is with you through this change.

You view your life as an exciting adventure. You seek its values; you accept its rewards. You meet change with faith and courage, as you see it as part of God’s good.

In the Bible, Colossians 3:15 states, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

Through this change, you are centered and poised in Christ and nothing can disturb the calm peace of your soul.

What does it mean to be centered and poised in Christ? Poise can be defined as a combination of peace and power. You have the Christ peace within you. You have the Christ power within you. Knowing this, you can be poised, serene, and undisturbed, no matter what change comes in your life.

If you are going for a job interview, if you have some kind of examination or test to take, this realization that you are centered and poised in Christ will help you to remain calm and collected. It will help you to express yourself, easily and effectively, at all times. It will help you to do whatever is before you with ease and freedom, and always with the promise of good success.

Know that through this change, the peace of Christ rules in your heart. You are centered and poised in Christ and you feel strengthened and assured. You are fearless and confident as well as peaceful and serene. Nothing can disturb the calm peace of your soul as you and God, together as one, go to meet the change. With God, success is assured.

This ministry is for and about prayer; not just to pray at you – but to pray WITH you.

This is what this time is for.

We human beings sometimes seem to like to do things the hard way.

Prayer makes life easy again.

Dear God, we have tried doing things the hard way. We now know that we are supposed to pray FIRST.

We now know that there is an easy way to meet every problem, circumstance and experience.

We let this happen. We don’t have to rush, push, or worry as long as we keep an open line in our minds and in our consciousness to You, dear God.

Prayer can not only make it happen, but is making it happen ALL the time.

We connect with God’s presence and power now. We relax, and we let it happen.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

In this moment, dear God, may we see life from the spiritual point of view.

We believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. We accept the basic premise that there is a Divine intelligence; the life energy that creates and sustains and dwells in all there is.

We know that God is not static. God is dynamic. God is ever-active and ever-flowing in our lives now.

Dear God, You are a flowing presence and power, flowing through ALL the beauty we see – the trees and grass, flowing through the birds that wing their way to new vistas.

The life and power of God are flowing through you now in your life this moment.

We are a part of God’s wholeness and perfection. Our life is not fragmented.

There is a wholeness and harmonious outworking of all things.

There is a perfect timing.

There is a perfect order.

We relax and let the energy, and wholeness of God flow through us.

We wait for God in the silence of prayer …

God is in charge.

God is never late.

We cease trying to figure out how things should work out.

We know there is a way.

With God THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY!

We turn to God and let the power and love of God flow through us.

We find our path of soul unfoldment. We find it is a joyous path. We let it happen.

Through the power of the spoken word, I decree for you today as you strive for success:

YOU LET GO AND BECOME AWARE OF GOD’S SPIRIT WITH YOU. YOU ARE INSPIRED AND GUIDED TO YOUR GOOD.

You are filled with the power of God. You have new energy and new vitality to meet your good when it comes.

Inspired by God, you are able to go forth with greater creativity than ever before.

You are guided every moment of the way onto a new and higher path filled with joy instead of obstacles.

We pray today, knowing this to be true. We fill ourselves with the presence of God and then we let it pour forth.

We are serving God by becoming points of light going into our world.

We are letting our light shine.

And in letting our light shine, we are joyous creations of God Almighty.

Prayer for the New Year

“The word of God is living and active.”

We pray together for confidence in our God-given life. We pray there will be a great movement, like a giant wave of prosperity covering all. Based in the security of God and out-picturing in the security of our savings.

The best is yet to be.

2024 will be a year of great employment and advancement.
2024 will be a year of increasing home warmth and joy.
2024 will be a year of growth spiritually and outwardly.
The government of God governs and provides continuously for us all.

We pray the prosperity of 2024 will be at flood tide. That is a wonderful biblical statement of how flood can come, and cover drought stricken areas, giving new life and growth.

2024 is the year of renewal, personal, and worldwide. We pray that the path that we go down is filled with glorious, splendid adventure that makes the investment of the year of our lives worthwhile. We retain what is good, and add to our lives what is needed, we will eliminate what is no longer serving our best purpose.

We walk with God. God is unaffected by the past, unaffected by the setbacks, unaffected by ill health, God is perfection itself and our association with God wears off upon us giving us new power.

We are open in 2024 to unexplainable miracles. Everything works out even better than we can imagine. We now stockpile our spiritual faith, accumulating for future use as needed. We pray for a new excitement, anticipation, and positive energy that continually expect the best. We decree that this will be a year of great accomplishment. We decree that this will be a year of increased love, both given and received. The flow of our lives moves in 2024. The logjams of the past are broken up. Blockages are removed with God’s help. This is a year of personal forward movement.

This is a year of calm, and peace as I move forward in God’s footprints. I now place all concerns in God’s ever abiding care. This is a year of loyalty to principles, for in so doing I will realize my long sought after manifest dreams.

This is the year where I will spiritually shop for new gifts, for God’s counters are full. In 2024, as never before, this is a time when I accept my good. I continue to do so without restraint. This is the year where my soul will bloom. New expression will unfold through me from God. This will be beautiful for all to behold and wonderful to experience myself. The multifaceted gifts of God will bloom in an array of a banquet of new talent, possibility, and expression. God’s path before me is wide and broad. I will not miss or overlook the new good coming to me.

2024 is a year of understanding, with a depth of wisdom that is continuously given from the Mind of God.

I value my God-given abilities, and therefore I value myself for what God has invested in me.

Others are willing to reward me for who I am becoming because they can easily perceive the gifts of God expressed. 2024 is a year where I make it happen, because God makes it happen through me. This is a year of non-stagnant career growth.

I am more than the sum total of my past, because of my spiritual connections.
I know that I can do anything because God can do anything through me.
I am not limited; I am not held back by my past.
I am not defined by yesterday.
My worth is not in my resume; my worth is in my soul.
Every lesson I have learned I now invest into myself for my future.
I am constantly changing and evolving into a better human being out-picturing from the spirituality within my soul.

This is the year for I have God’s continuous protection.

The speed limit of my life has been lifted. The altitude is endless, because my attitude is complete in God. Only green lights and open doors are ahead of me. Nothing is rusted, nothing is decayed, everything is fresh, and new.

This is truly a God-given fresh start.

I have new confidence in 2024. Every day that I walk through, I will know that everything will be all right, and with God’s help more than all right – better than ever before!

I first heard of Janus when I was in the tenth grade during a welcome-back address from our vice principal after the Christmas break. Considered the God of Gates and Doors, this Roman god lent his name to the month of January and had a rather unusual appearance. He was depicted with a double-faced head, each looking in opposite directions. It is believed that he was depicted in this fashion because of the notion that gates, and doors look in two directions. In this way, one of his faces was able to look backwards while the other looked forward, representing Janus’s contemplation of the happenings of the old year while looking forward to the new one.

A time of celebration

We all possess the dual-face characteristic of this ancient Roman god. It is a quality I wholeheartedly endorse. As we close out the old year with family gatherings and festivities, we usually spend time musing over the happenings of the past year, while considering the paths that we want our lives to take in the coming one. The end of the year is primarily about celebrating. And while it is fitting to celebrate the season, you should also take time out to celebrate all the hard work you put into attaining the goals you set over the past year. And if, for whatever reason, the year did not turn out as well as you anticipated, you should still celebrate the small victories you enjoyed along the way.

A time for contemplation

Although this is something that should be done throughout the entire year, this is the time of year when traditionally, most people give thought to the direction they want their lives to take over the next twelve months. They contemplate the goals they want to achieve, the lives they want to impact, the personal relationships they need to cultivate, the business contacts they need to establish, the changes they need to embrace, and ultimately the person they must become in order to make it all happen.

A time for new beginnings

In his role as the Guardian of exits and entrances, Janus was also believed to represent beginnings. He was frequently used to symbolize change and transitions. These include the progression of the past to the future; the transition from one condition to another, or of one vision to another. He was worshipped at the beginning of the harvest time, planting, marriage, birth, and other types of beginnings, especially the beginnings of important events in a person’s life.

You play an even more significant role in your life because, in addition to representing new beginnings in your life, consciously and subconsciously, you are also the creator of the events in your life.

Not only on January 1st, but every single day of the year. Janus could observe the happenings on either side of the gate, but I am sure you would agree that he was powerless to affect the change necessary to ensure the future would be different from the past. Unlike Janus however, you have a mind that allows you to recall events from the past, analyze them in the present, and project them in the future.

This means that through this incredible endowment, you have the ability to observe your life – not just like a historian or a fortune teller – but like a sculptor, through vision and painstaking work, sculpting a life of your design.

A time for self-evaluation

As you emerge through the door or gate of the old year to enter the new one, do so through a process of self-evaluation. Don’t rest on your laurels. Refuse to be complacent, for that will only breed failure. Rather, seek ways in which you can improve your level of effectiveness.

Here are some questions that may help:

What habits did you develop over the past year that served you well?

What habits do you have now that do not support the goals and aspirations you have this year?

What was the biggest challenge you overcame last year?

What was your biggest setback(s)?

What lessons did you learn from it (them)?

Awake awareness of God’s help in you, and start planting the seeds that will help you to create an abundant harvest – and a new beginning.

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided to do something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day.

He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you.”

The children were shocked, but the emperor continued. “I am going to give each one of you a seed today – one very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor.”

One boy, named Ling, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it, carefully. Every day, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.

After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by. Still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Ling didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by – still nothing in Ling’s pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn’t say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot, but his mother asked him to be honest about what happened.

Ling felt sick at his stomach, but he knew his mother was right. He took his empty pot to the palace. When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other youths. They were beautiful – in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other children laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, “Hey, nice try.”

When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,” said the emperor. “Today one of you will be appointed the next emperor!”

All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. He thought, “The emperor knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!”

When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. “My name is Ling,” he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him. The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, “Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!” Ling couldn’t believe it. Ling couldn’t even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?

Then the emperor said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds that would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.

“When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor!”

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust.

If you plant goodness, you will reap friends.

If you plant humility, you will reap greatness.

If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory.

If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony.

If you plant hard work, you will reap success.

If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation.

If you plant openness, you will reap intimacy.

If you plant patience, you will reap improvements.

If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.

So be careful what you plant now, it will determine what you will reap tomorrow. The seeds you now scatter will make life worse or better for you or for the ones who will come after you. Someday you will enjoy the fruits, or you will pay for the choices you make.
