A woman calls her husband and sounding really stressed says,

“Please come over here and help me. I have a jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get it started. I’ve been working on it for hours!!!”

Her husband asks, “What is it supposed to be when it is finished?”

The wife says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.”

Her husband decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in the room and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.”

He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax.

Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then … ” he sighed, ” … Let’s put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.”

The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building.

Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute. The substitute wanted to know what to play.

“Here’s a copy of the service,” he said impatiently. “But, you’ll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances.”

During the service, the minister paused and said, “Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up.”

At that moment, the substitute organist played “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!

A contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” had reached the final plateau. If she answered the next question correctly, she would win $1,000,000. If she answered incorrectly, she would pocket only the $32,000-milestone money.

And as she suspected it would be, the million-dollar question was no pushover. It was, “Which of the following species of birds does not build its own nest, but instead lays its eggs in the nests of other birds? Is it

A) the condor;

B) the buzzard;

C) the cuckoo; or

D) the vulture?”

The woman was on the spot. She did not know the answer.

And she was doubly on the spot because she had used up her 50/50 Lifeline and her Audience Poll Lifeline. All that remained was her Phone-a-Friend Lifeline, and the woman had hoped against hope that she would not have to use it. Mainly because the only friend that she knew would be home she didn’t think she knew anything about birds.

But the contestant had no alternative. She called her friend and gave her the question and the four choices. The friend responded unhesitatingly: “That’s easy. The answer is C: The cuckoo.”

The contestant had to make a decision and make it fast. She considered employing a reverse strategy and giving any answer except the one that her friend had given her. And considering that her friend was not a bird person, that would seem to be the logical thing to do. On the other hand – the friend had responded with such confidence, such certitude, that the contestant could not help but be persuaded.

“I need an answer,” said the host.

Crossing her fingers, the contestant said, “C: The cuckoo.”

“Is that your final answer?” asked the host.

“Yes, that is my final answer.”

Two minutes later, the host said, “I regret to inform you that that answer is … absolutely correct. You are now a millionaire!”

Three days later, the contestant hosted a party for her family and friends – including the woman who had helped her win the million dollars.

“Jenny, I just do not know how to thank you,” said the contestant. “Because of your knowing the answer to that final question, I am now a millionaire. And do you want to know something? It was the assuredness with which you answered the question that convinced me to go with your choice. By the way … HOW did YOU know the right answer?”

“Oh, come on,” said the friend. “Everybody knows that cuckoos don’t build nests. They live in clocks.”

Ephesians 4:31-32

Forgiveness in first century Christianity means self-release. It is releasing the poison from inside of you. It has little to do with the other person. Forgiveness is releasing the prisoner, and then realizing the prisoner was you.

Forgiving may help the forgiver more than the forgiven.

A dear woman shares her story:

As everything unraveled on a 25-year marriage and my husband moved out of the only home our daughter had ever known, I felt huge relief our only child was 20 at that time – it made everything simpler. Or so I thought. Because she wasn’t a minor, I didn’t have to negotiate about custody and child support, didn’t have to put up with his coming around to see her, and didn’t have to try to explain the inexplicable to a young child. Mostly, though, I was relieved because I thought it would be less complicated emotionally for her at that age. She was away at college, a young adult, not subject to the day-to-day difficulties or emotional turmoil of her parents being in two households.

In an attempt to ensure that my crushing hurt did not affect their relationship, I had said to my daughter and her dad that the nature and quality of their relationship from that point on would be up to them. I would not interfere, but neither would I facilitate. I tried to be glad when I saw his phone number on the phone bill from her college dorm; but I’ll confess that on more than one occasion in those early days I slipped into revenge fantasies, wishing with more than a little shame that I could be one of ‘those’ divorced parents who use their children to ‘get at’ an ex-spouse. My anger waned in intensity over the following months, but on occasion glowed white hot, briefly and unexpectedly, for reasons that still elude me. At those times, I exercised that remarkable ability so many women have to feign: pleasantness and serenity while simultaneously holding down an ugly knot of hurt and anger that clamored for attention the way curdled milk waits to erupt from a soured stomach.

I observed my daughter’s next few years mostly from afar as she concentrated on her studies, became active in a sorority, made new friends, played on her university’s tennis team, enjoyed snow-skiing, camping, boating and beach trips with friends, and fell in and out of love. I naturally wondered at times what impact the end of her parents’ 25-year marriage might have on her. From what I could see, my daughter’s strong spirit, sense of independence, self-confidence, good humor and zest for life were serving her well. After a while, I even congratulated myself on our having handled things in a way that had left her relatively unscathed.

Reality hit hard one evening during her Christmas vacation six months before she was to graduate from college. That’s when my daughter taught me an important lesson – children whose parents divorce are forever changed, regardless of their age or life situation when the split happens. Sitting at the dinner table that night in my new house, which still didn’t feel like home to either of us, she hesitantly told me she was dreading her college graduation.

“All my friends’ families will be coming, and there are dinners and receptions all weekend,” she said, putting her elbows on the table her father had sanded and stained when she was a little girl. “And every time you see or talk about Dad, you cry and feel sad. I can’t tell one of you not to come. You’re my parents. It makes me not want to go through graduation.”

I felt as though I’d been hit with something big and hard.

I couldn’t breathe. And then tears – those damn tears – began to course down my cheeks and drip onto my chest. I felt hot, and the light over the table seemed to spin and flash as I struggled for composure. I was stunned and stung – stunned to discover that my involuntary tears had cut so deeply into her life and soul; stung that my hanging on to sadness and a sense of loss was responsible for her wanting to skip an important milestone in her life. I didn’t believe for a second, she really would miss the festivities, but to know she saw my continued grieving as and inevitable dark cloud over her graduation weekend was devastating.

I’ve always believed that actions follow thoughts. Now would come a test of that belief. “I know it wasn’t easy to say that,” I managed to mutter. After a pause and a big sigh, I continued, with a note of determination in my voice that I didn’t feel. “It’s six months until graduation. You know both your dad and I love you and want your graduation and all your special moments in life to be unmarred by what’s gone on between us. I promise you that on your graduation weekend, you don’t have to worry about my crying. We’ll be fine.”

And we were. Tears did fall that day, but they were shared with my ex-husband as we stood arm in arm watching the daughter we’d raised walk across the stage to accept her diploma. He even carried an extra handkerchief for me, as he had all those years we were married. That’s when I knew my choice to spend time with him during the months after her sad dinner table confrontation had been worthwhile. By “practicing” being cordial and friendly, by sharing everyday conversation and meals, by saying why I was doing this, I had moved beyond the automatic response of tears. I think we actually ended up enjoying ourselves; and it wasn’t long before I realized that forgiveness had crept into my heart, softening that hard knot of anger and hurt.

It was a turning point – not only for the three of us but for our extended family and friends as well. Now my sister and mother and friends could once again be friendly without feeling disloyal to me. The cordiality and friendliness we felt that spring has continued in the years since, making subsequent visits with our daughter more enjoyable for everyone. And now we’re all immersed in planning another milestone – our daughter’s wedding. In the fall, my ex-husband and I will sit side by side once again, on the front pew in the church this time, perhaps sharing a handkerchief once more.

All spiritual power is found in the present – it is the best time ever.

One of my hobbies is to go to auto museums to see classic automobiles. When I was in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, I had the pleasure of going to Swope’s Cars of Yesteryear Museum. It was serendipitous when I met the owner Bill Swope. He has many new car dealerships, but his passion is classic cars. He is opened up his museum free of charge to the public. He has cars on display that would be worth in excess of a quarter of $1 million each.

I asked Mr. Swope what was in his opinion the best car ever made. He looked past the Rolls-Royce on display and he said, any of those cars – pointing to the new economy cars on his lot.

He said, “Put a dealer tag, and a little bit of gas in the tank, and I am driving the best car ever made.”

There’s a lot of truth to that. Anyone that has ever owned a classic car knows well the problems and defects those cars had from day one.

Our greatness is not found in the past, our greatness is found in the present. The best cars ever made are being made now, and so are the best people. You can look to history for the men and women you admire – but realize they each had flaws. Many of the people of our past had major flaws.

You were made by God for greatness. And God is creating the best people today that have ever been made. People today are accepting of others and kinder and gentler in their souls. I often say that our readers are the best people on the planet, and they’re striving to become better than they were yesterday.

Bill Swope was a great success, I believe, from spending time with him, it’s because he puts his heart into his work. That’s what you must do – put your heart into your career, following your passion with excellence.

I remember the Broadway show tune “You’ve Got to Have Heart.” I am humming it as I write. I know that when a person puts heart into what they’re doing, even though to the eyes it may look impossible, that person is going to succeed bigger than any of us can imagine.

The best time in the history of the world is right now, the best people in the history of the world live right now. You have the God-given potential to be the best that you can be. God is blessing you to become a magnificent person, and God is not done with you yet. God is constantly remodeling you, re-creating you, and bringing out the new model, better than last year.

The 2024 model of YOU will soon be out.

Father George and all the Catholic family,

Why are we pretending to meet tomorrow; we know I am off with guns and security tonight (orders from family, friends, community members and none other than Tom Brady himself). To be transferred from Hot Springs to a hospital outside of this city. A surgery is scheduled and doctors are preparing for intensive shock therapy and lobotomy type surgeries.

Let us not kid ourselves, I am so scared of what is to come yet simply too tired to fight any longer. His Disney castle is ready and he is waiting to take his beautiful queen to her throne. A wedding I am very aware of and can only imagine is much like that from the Cinderella book. Filled with money, fame, and grandeur.

But, my story is not that. As I get closer to this meeting of security and institutionalization I am frankly shocked at how little I matter. Wow, if anyone had told me this plan had been set up in 2019 when I was just working my little heart out at Little Bitty City. As that revered pediatric Physical therapist I had worked so hard to become. Starting my dry needling business (Body Tune) and dating online hoping for marriage.

My fate has changed in so many short months; simply a nightmare every day. Thank you for the note I received last night as I ate my two snacks from the lovely women in the latino community. Who so boldly cleaned my papers off the desk and removed my last cracker to the trash can. And storming into the adoration chapel to speak in spanish about my eating multiple cosas and being so ugly.

I worked for three years to interpret this language of hatred and malice. And now after three months of taking the many non verbal cues given by so many simple minds; I figured it out.

Tom Brady has interrupted my life; making me one of the most sad and neglected women on this planet. He intercepted my youtube channel in Mexico, playing Mariah Carey and promising love with each song that was hand picked for me to listen to. Our special little bond, that has now destroyed my confidence in myself and made me fear my own sanity. See below his favorite song; I thought wow I have finally made it and this is what I have worked so hard to stay single for. Only, this is a joke for show and the songs I picked out to confirm my feelings were used as tools for putting into a long term facility. This is social media at its finest.

To get from point A to point B, from where you are to where you want to be – your bridge is faith in God.

Your faith in God is a powerful spiritual belief that rushes in to soothe any fears so that you can think and act with calmness, and also wisdom.

Your faith in God is continually growing, for it opens your soul to the wonder of God that is everywhere accessible to you.

There is nothing that God cannot do. With God, and God’s ever-abiding help, you are lifted above limitations, and obstacles. Faith in God moves you forward, and brings you through any, and every circumstance.

Faith is a bridge over which you cross any trouble or challenge to the perfect solution to any problem. Faith is the bridge to healing, prosperity, and fulfillment of your dreams.

Faith is the bridge that takes you beyond your human mind to God’s mind. With God, you never need doubt that the guidance and inspiration you receive is right for you. It is right for you because God knows you better than you know yourself. So, if you are unsure about what to do, let God take you across the bridge from personal insecurity to God’s security.

Let God take you across the bridge from personal confusion to God’s wisdom. As you go to God in prayer, you will begin shining the light of understanding on every area of your life. In God’s light you comprehend every situation with new clarity. You feel certain about what is right for you. You know that God will never lead you astray.

The bridge of faith can take you from a negative outlook, to a positive outlook.

The bridge of faith can take you from where you are to where you dream of being.

When you know that God is with you, it is always possible to have a positive attitude. With God, all things are possible.

With sincere faith in God, and in yourself, you can accomplish great things. By expecting the best in any given situation, you are preparing yourself for positive and satisfying experiences.

When you have faith in God, you go across the bridge leaving behind the personal blocks and limitations and going towards a God empowerment. Going across the bridge you will be able to go the extra mile to achieve the best results. And you will expect the best, in faith saying “yes” to all the blessings you know are coming your way from God.

God wants to take you across the bridge leaving behind personal problems and going towards personal victories. You believe in God and you know that God also believes in you.

Each of us is secretly in bondage to something – and we long for freedom. Only God can give the complete freedom the soul craves.

On this Wednesday, you pray to realize God’s unlimited freedom. You pray you are free to express life fully as God directs. You have no thought that anything or anyone can hold you in bondage.

You can be limited only by your own limited thinking. You bind yourself when you believe that you are under bondage to people or things. Your freedom depends upon your awareness of freedom given by God.

Your right to be a free expression is God-given. You must be free to fully express God’s gifts and talents. Your life can be well-rounded only when God is freely expressed through you, and in you. You take on a power that is beyond yourself.

With God’s help, any belief that seems to hold you in bondage is cleared out of your thinking of it. Ask God for freedom. You deliver yourself from the belief that another can make you unhappy or can limit your progress. You free yourself from the belief that anything external can restrict your God-given personal freedom.

You are centered in God today and relaxed. You are free from stress. Stress builds on itself. You free yourself and release pressure by not allowing anyone, or anything to continue to cause you to feel mentally or emotionally stressed.

With God’s help, you diffuse any pressure in your mind – the starting point of every thought, emotion, and action – so it will not pervade your life.

You begin affirming in positive prayer: “I have the mind of Christ. God is with me. I am at peace, I am free.”

God’s mind is not stressful or fearful, and you become one with the mind of God.

As you quiet your thoughts and keep them Christ centered, your emotions are soothed.

You speak calming words to relax your body: “Centered in Christ, I relax.”

Christ centered and relaxed, you are able to function effectively and efficiently. You are free from the former bondage that could have held you down today.

The power of God is here. What a joy we have to experience God’s love in this time together.

We are poised today as we enter prayer.

We are patient and positive.

We use this time to remind ourselves of God’s power.

All things are working together for good [Romans 8:28]. We know that in everything God works for good for those who love God. Sometimes it takes great poise to recall this, especially when things seem so out of order, or when confusion seems to reign.

If everyone around you is upset and unhappy, you refuse to become negative.

You affirm silently with me: I am poised because I know that God is leading me to my highest good. I know that God is here bringing about that which is for the highest good of all.

Poise is balance – a combination of peace and power. We are poised. We feel the power of God with us, at work in us and through us.

Pray and accept God’s good in the silence of prayer …

Allow me to speak for you …

I am patient.

I am patient because I know that God is leading me to my highest good. I am patient because I know that God is leading others to their highest good also. I am patient because I know that God is at work and God cannot fail.

I am positive.

I know that God is leading me to my highest good. I align myself with the constructive side of things now during my prayer.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Let us think about poise and healing. True healing is balance in the body, balance in the mind, and balance in the emotions.

I affirm silently: I am poised. I know that God’s healing work is being done in me. Perfect balance is something I’m feeling right now.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Perfect balance and patience keep me peaceful in my mind and heart and help to free me from any worry or tension I might have carried into this day. I am positive. I know that God’s healing work is being done in me right now.

We are poised. We come from a position of strength in God. Therefore, we are not fearful. We are patient. We never doubt because we know in partnership with God our good is on its way. We remain positive. We place our faith in the one true source of all – God. We know that God provides for our every need.

We have this outlook now. It is in our mind; it is in our body; it is in our thought. Good gravitates toward us. In the face of limitation, we are positive that supply is available. In the face of delays, we are patient and trusting. In the face of change, we are poised and serene. We know that all things coming into our lives are working together for good.

Poised, patient, positive. Our lives are blessed. We meet each day more convinced than ever that God is with us and with those for whom we pray to guide, heal, and prosper.

Through the power of the spoken word I decree for you: God is bringing only good into your life and circumstances. You are poised, patient, and positive.

Rest for a moment in the silence of prayer …

God is bringing good into my life and the circumstances of my life.
I welcome God.
I am poised.
I am patient.
I am positive.

Today, know fully that God’s healing presence is with you, and within you. Permit yourself to truly experience God’s healing, allow the Divine perfection to permeate to the depths of your soul. As you pray with, us God’s healing presence fills your heart bringing energy and wholeness to your body and mind. You now let the fullness and the power of God’s help being known to you.

God is ready and willing to help you. God is ready to heal, uplift, and bring total well-being. Even in the most difficult challenges and experiences, God’s helpis available to you. God’s healing activity in your life awaits your full conscious acceptance of it. God is ever-ready to bless you, and to bring complete well-being to you, regardless of past or present difficulties.

When your soul is hushed and receptive, the fullness of the power of God’s healing presence is known in your mind, body, and soul. There is never a time that God’s help is not available to you. God will provide wisdom, all the love you call for, and all the peaceful feelings you desire.

Learn to consistently hush all doubts, as a beloved child of God you are capable of discovering Divine help for every need.

The most powerful action you can take in a time of need is to turn to God. You will wake to your worthiness as a child of God’s good. Daily build and rebuild your own foundation of faith in God’s help at hand. God’s presence will be so clearly understood that you will find your whole soul responding in wholeness.

God says to you – You are worthy of the best help in surmounting all challenges.
