HOW WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

“For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those that wait for God.”
Isaiah 30:18

Fast question, answer with all your sincerity –

A company was hiring a new employee. A part of the selection process was to answer the following question in writing:

You are driving your car in a dangerous storm at night. You are passing in front of a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

– an old lady who seems to be near death
– a doctor who saved your life in the past
– the woman/man of your dreams
– You only can take ONE person in your car.
– Which would you choose?

Please justify your reply, and think, before continuing reading.

This is a type of personality test. Each reply has its reasons.

Would you drive the old lady? She is dying; you could drive her to the hospital.

Would you drive the doctor? He saved your life in the past. This would be the perfect possibility to repay what he did for you. However, you still could repay in a future occasion.

Would you drive the man/woman of your dreams? If you let this possibility pass it may not come again.

The candidate who was selected in the end (among the 200 competitors) did not need to explain his reply.

What did he say?

He simply answered: “I’ll give the key of the car to the doctor and let him take the old lady to the hospital while I wait for the bus with the man/woman of my Dreams.”

We must stretch ourselves and be willing to think outside of the box.

A Grandma’s Wisdom:

A young boy is telling his Grandma how “everything” is going wrong. School, family problems, severe health problems, etc …

Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which of course he does. “Here, have some cooking oil.”

“Yuck!” says the boy.

“How about a couple raw eggs?”

“Gross, Grandma!”

“Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?”

“Grandma, those are all nasty!”

To which Grandma replies: “Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!”

God works the same way. Many times, we wonder why God would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when God helps to put these things in Divine order, they always work for good! We just have to trust God and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!” God bless you! Have a great day filled with God’s goodness.

You are very important to God, because God created you to be a perfect expression of the Divine. The next time you feel run down and at the end of your rope, try giving thanks to God as the source of your life and energy. You will feel a refreshing stream of life renewing your mind and body. God created you a living soul and continues to breathe into you the breath of life.

Jesus came to show you the true character of life. Remember, He said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” He did not indicate that He was preparing us for future life, but for our present abundant living. We, sometimes, think that the truths Jesus talked about were just for His immediate followers, that they have nothing to do with us. But Jesus taught eternal truths. The mission of Jesus Christ is to show us that the human is an eternal being.

A good starting point for renewal and healing in the body can be based on Paul’s words; “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? … So glorify God in your body.”

Renewal and healing come through a constant recognition of the source of renewal and healing – God. There are spiritual energies that rebuild your body and maintain it, in vitality and youthfulness. When you realize this, you become enthusiastic about living. Nothing can limit the life and renewing power within you, when you commence to glorify God in your body.

Life is a gift of God to each one of us. It is absolutely unlimited, except in our concept of it. One woman said this prayer aloud every single day, “I am young, strong, beautiful. My body knows it, and my body shows it.” This simple thought has helped to strengthen her feeling of eternal life and youth.

Your body will become a willing and loving cooperator with your thoughts and words. Life itself is from God and it does not grow old. It constantly renews itself. Humans are only half awake. We live within the limitations that we set upon ourselves. God created humans, not for time, but for eternity. God created humans as a living expression of God’s own abundant, eternal life. Therefore, let us identify ourselves with God’s abundant, ever-renewing life, rather than with the idea of limitation of any kind.

A man of fifty, who was attending night school, was asked why, at this age, he was back in school. He answered: “Because I do not want to die at fifty and wait to be buried at eighty.” Many persons, in mid-life are in adult education classes and are learning new professions – medicine, law, architecture.

Some people say, “I’m too old to begin something new.” My own grandmother decided, at age forty, that she was too old to learn to drive. When she passed away, she was in her late nineties. Had she learned to drive, she would have driven for over fifty years, and it would have changed her life.

Let us cultivate the idea about ourselves that we are never too old to take out something new. Let’s work at cultivating a positive and joyous attitude and really enjoy life.

What are some of the limitations you have placed upon yourself, that keep you from expressing the joy of living? Have you ever said, “Well, at my age, I can’t expect much from life?” Do you watch life from the sidelines, instead of entering in and enjoying yourself? Do you live in the past and talk only about the good old days?

Change these habits. Enter into a joy-filled present. If you wish to be young and enthusiastic, do not carry a lot of burdens in your mind. Sometimes, a person will think that they cannot carry a bag of groceries from the car into the house; but this same person carries an impossible load of burdens in their mind. Limit the load on your mind.

Jesus came with a message of life and joy. At Positive Christianity we are trying to prepare people to live and enjoy life.

If you want to stay young and vital:

Let old thoughts and old conditions be as waters that have passed away.

Find new interests.

Arouse within yourself a love of life.

Try new things.

Let the idea of yourself, as a spiritual being, more than a physical being, become the dominating idea in your mind. When it is, your life will no longer be affected by the limitations that bind the natural human. The life you feel, at this moment, has its source in the eternal God. This life is flowing in and through you, to renew you completely.

Dear God, most of all I give thanks that You are not done with me yet. The Creator is still creating, and I accept re-creation.

Dear God, I worship You today in FULL joy. Help me to become like a child again with a mind filled of wow and wonder. If I have let life take too much of a toll on me, help me to again experience full joy and to express it daily and worship of You. Help me to wear a smile instead of a frown and show to all what being infilled with a full spiritual presence of You means.

I am ready to exhibit my inner joy.

Let’s join in prayer, turning to God as the Source of our joy. God touches within our own soul.

Let us know God is right here with us during our prayer time, the Creator of our joy.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Dear God, here I am in this moment. I come to you humbly and I ask for a God-given gift of new joy in my life. I consent to releasing old ways and habits that block and hinder me. I consent to the dissolving of painful memories that have kept me in a prison of silent gloom far too long. I am ready to rejoice and to worship You in full joy and love as your child.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Whatever our need, in prayer we turn to the presence of God and rejoice. We have God, the source of ALL good in our lives right now. God’s help is at hand. Joy wells up in us like an endless spring that has been tapped in our soul. We feel it, and sing our song of thanks and joy in response to its endless flow.

God wants us to meet in this Divine appointment, to accept our love and joy as a divine and permanent gift. May this give me something we carry daily in our soul and our mind and feel in our body.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

We rejoice in God’s love. We feel God’s love. Whatever you may pray, you can know that God’s will for you is fulfillment, because God is love. God’s will is for you unfolding yourself and being all that God made you to be. God made you to experience joy as a child again. God made you in God’s infinite Wisdom, infinite love, and infinite joy.

God is wisdom and light. It shines in the very center of your being, at the very center of your mind as you focus on the Divine in prayer … You are never done discovering the wonders and the treasures and gifts for you to open as God’s child.

The light of God brings forth in you, awareness of the talents and abilities you have been given by God.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

You rejoice anew in God’s life. Every thought in your mind, every feeling in your heart, every cell in your body, rings like a beautiful bell, just as the sound of bells is the sound of life. Let us know that life is singing its song as it courses through your body – through your nerves calming with God’s tranquility, through your veins bringing new God-given life, and through every cell of your being, shouting aliveness and new vitality.

You rejoice in God’s life.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

You rejoice in your good, because God is your ever-present good. You can know that God’s will for you is the fulfillment of your every need. God is the source of your prosperity and success. God is the source of your peace and security. God is all around you, and in you. God is love. God is joy. God is light. God is life. And God is ALL good.

And on this worship day, we give thanks for our awareness of our joy in God.

In Jesus Christ’s name … Amen.

The Gift of Your Time

It has been said, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.”

A young man learns what’s most important in life from the guy next door.

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, “Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday.” Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel, as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

“Jack, did you hear me?”

“Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It has been so long since I thought of him. I’m sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,” Jack said.

“Well, he didn’t forget you. Every time I saw him he’d ask how you were doing. He’d reminisce about the many days you spent over ‘his side of the fence’ as he put it,” mom told him.

“I loved that old house he lived in,” Jack said.

“You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man’s influence in your life,” she said.

“He’s the one who taught me carpentry,” he said. “I wouldn’t be in this business if it weren’t for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important. Mom, I’ll be there for the funeral,” Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown.

Mr. Belser’s funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away. The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door, one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time.

The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture … Jack stopped suddenly.

“What’s wrong, Jack?” his Mom asked.

“The box is gone,” he said.

“What box?” Mom asked.

“There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he’d ever tell me was ‘the thing I value most,'” Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

“Now I’ll never know what was so valuable to him,” Jack said. “I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom.”

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died. Returning home from work one day, Jack discovered a note in his mailbox.

“Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days,” the note read.

Early the next day, Jack retrieved the package.

The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention.

“Mr. Harold Belser” it read.

Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There, inside, was the gold box and an envelope. Jack’s hands shook as he read the note inside.

“Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It’s the thing I valued most in my life.” A small key was taped to the letter.

His heart racing, as tears filled his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There, inside, he found a beautiful gold pocket watch. Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover.

Inside he found these words engraved: “Jack, Thanks for your time! Harold Belser.”

“The thing he valued most … was … my time.”

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days.

“Why?” Janet, his assistant asked.

“I need some time to spend with my son,” he said.

“Oh, by the way, Janet … thanks for your time!”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Dear God, help me never to be so busy that I forget the value of giving my time to another.

A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: ‘Talking Dog For Sale’ He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

“You talk?” he asks.

“Yep,” the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says “So, what’s your story?”

The Lab looks up and says, “Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.

“I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn’t getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.

“I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I’m just retired.”

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

“Ten dollars,” the guy says.

“Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?”

“Because he’s a liar. He never did any of that stuff.”

Mermaid verses Whale

Recently, in a large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tanned woman appeared in the window of a gym.

It said: “THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE?”

A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

To Whom It May Concern:

Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans). They have a wonderful time with dolphins, stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Barren Sea, and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected, and admired by almost everyone in the world.

Mermaids do not exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? Not to mention who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store?

The choice is perfectly clear to me; I want to be a whale.

P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner, and a coffee with my friends. With time we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So, we aren’t heavy; we are enormously cultured, educated, and happy. Beginning today, when I look in the mirror I will think, “Good gosh, look how smart I am!”

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I heard you were considering a new manager in your life. I would like to apply for the job. I believe I am the most qualified candidate. I am the only one that has ever done this job successfully.

I was the first manager of human beings. In fact, I made them, so naturally I know how humanity works, and what is best to get people back into proper working condition. It will be like having the manufacturer as your personal mechanic.

If this is your first time considering me, I would just like to point out that my salary is paid through your commitment. What I need from you is the acknowledgment to pay for all of your worldly ways and your independence from Me through dependence and dedication of self. I need you to believe in me in your heart and to tell somebody else about your decision with your actions.

The next thing I ask is the right to change and fix your life so that you can learn how to stay close to Me. I will make some major changes and revisions. They are not for you to worry about. I need your permission to execute these changes My way and in My time. I will change your desires and give you the strength to make the changes.

Please keep your hands out of the way. Don’t try to help me and don’t resist me. I really do need your full commitment and cooperation. If you give me those, the process can go smoothly, without delay.

PEACE OF GOD

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts … And be thankful.”

Dear God, You are my peacemaker. Whenever I find it difficult to quiet myself, I know that all I need to do is lift my heart to Your loving nature and feel Your calmness flood my soul. It is sometimes difficult for me to realize that there is enough time for me to accomplish every task assigned to me. Give me Your peaceful truth once again, dear God. Let me know that Your life is a peace-giving, loving life, with time enough for resting my mind, with time enough for resting my busy hands, and with time enough to realize that You are my help in every need.

Dear God, you are my peacemaker. I rest my weary body and mind in your tireless presence, and I am bathed with new energy and life. The moment I turn to you, I receive a new outlook on my life. It is planted in my mind and it grows as I go through the living of my life, this day. I pray that you will reward my seeking spirit with the presence of Your Spirit.

I wait on You, dear God, to replace my sense of hurry and worry with Your wonderful sense of well-being and quiet. In perfect peace, I rest. I relax. I let go. The Spirit of God blesses me now. In the Holy Oneness and All-ness of God, I feel free. The breath of the Almighty breathes through me with the newness and freshness of peaceful life.

My soul is a clean and open house, where the sunshine of God radiates and sparkles in every nook and cranny. Living within the laws of God, I find that my personality and character are defined by my peacefulness. I find that my world responds to me with new order, harmony, peace, and justice. I am free and happy to live, fully, in God’s peace. I am peaceful to all others. I live a harmless life. My peace is not rigid or narrow. I allow others to live their own lives, and I am not threatened by differences. It is more blessed to give than to receive; I give peace to all others even when they are not peaceful with me. My peace extends from me; it is broad, deep, and filled with joy. I declare my obedience to the peace of God, realizing that its light can right any wrong situation caused by the darkness of agitation and distress.

The Bible says a double-minded human is unstable in all their ways. Instability is a divided sense of loyalty and obedience. I no longer give my loyalty and obedience over to anger, or the lowest human desires of needing to get back at someone. I realize that when I get back at someone else, I am, in truth, only hurting myself. I will no longer surrender my peace of mind. When I concentrate on the peace of God and the expressing of that peace, I am held within the power of the Infinite Harmony of the Divine.

With God’s help, I say, “Peace” to the winds and waves of emotional excitement and they obey!

It is with expectant joy that my heart sings out to You now. I pray with the ever-present knowledge that all is well in my world, in my life, and in the lives of my loved ones. Peace reigns supreme in my life today. I have a quiet, exultant heart. You are my peacemaker, dear God.

Thank You God!

Think Totally Unique Thoughts

“Let the same mind be IN YOU that was in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 2:5

Some people live their whole lives without an original thought inside of their heads. Some people live their whole lives thinking in secondary thought. Some people sadly let others do all of their thinking for them. They accept the thoughts of others and live their lives on the basis of others’ thoughts. Many of these thoughts are filled with limitation and lack and do NOT serve our needs today.

Well-meaning parents, siblings, and friends have given you their thoughts in the past. Sadly many people blindly follow mass thought or even “mob consciousness.”

I encourage you this week to question everything and dare to ask, “Why?” I encourage you to think for yourself new and original thoughts. I encourage you this week to think out of the box and to have Totally Unique Thought.

There is a story told about the family that for generations cut off the end of the ham before they cooked it. The granddaughter one day asked, “Why?” Her mother reported that her mother and grandmother always cooked the ham this way. The daughter persisted in wondering why they had to cut off the end of the ham. At the next family gathering the daughter asked her great-grandmother, “Why?” The great-grandmother was shocked that it had become a family tradition. It turns out that 50 years ago when she first started the practice, her oven was too small to fit the whole ham inside.

Inventors think brand-new thoughts to solve old problems. I am asking you this week to be the King or Queen of Totally Unique Thought. You will be King TUT!

We have all let others do our thinking for us and that is all right when we are children but now you are an adult, and you must use the great power of thought that God has given you to think.

You do not have to think alone. Your human thinking can be opened to God’s thoughts. Your human brain can be the receptor of Divine ideas that you can use to co-create and reinvent your life. Your life can be revolutionized by new thought held in your mind. If you are dissatisfied or discontent, perhaps this is your signal that you have been living other people’s thoughts about your own unique life.

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

Today, I empower myself by thinking Totally Unique Thought.
Today I empower myself, by asking your help, God.
I ask that You infill me with Divine ideas.
I pray that I have the ability to re-think, and to question, and rise my thoughts of the past.
I pray that I have self-motivation to carry through the Totally Unique Thoughts that I receive from You and co-create with my own thinking.
I pray that I have the courage to reinvent my life by reinventing my thinking.
I stand in prayer ready and willing to begin this active and exciting process of forming a new Christ consciousness.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
Proverbs 16:3

God’s perfect plan of good is finding fulfillment in your life, right now. Everything is in Divine order; you are Divinely guided, protected, and prospered, this minute, as you turn to God.

You are not anxious about your life or its direction, for you know that God’s perfect plan of good is unfolding, now, in Divine order. You put your absolute faith in God and God’s goodness. You see all the experiences of your life as contributing to your growth and unfoldment. You have nothing to fear, for God is your guide and protector.

You have no lack of love, for God’s Divine love is constantly with you. You prosper because God supplies your every need.

You commit your hopes, your dreams, your desires to the Lord. You give thanks that, even now, that which is for your highest good and happiness is being established. You trust in the perfect outworking of all things.

God’s perfect plan of good is finding fulfillment in your life. You are Divinely guided.

Think for a minute of the many situations that will be blessed and benefited today by your realization of God’s Divine order.

As you travel – perhaps across town, perhaps across the country – your prayer for Divine order will go before you to make safe and easy your way. Protection and security are in Divine order for you.

As you handle the various affairs of your day, you are fulfilled as you turn to God, because God has already turned towards you. Your prayer will keep you alert to right choices and open the way for wise decisions.

Wisdom and guidance are God’s gift to you this day. In human relations, your prayer for Divine order will keep your emotions stable and keep you in the right attitude and spirit, to make this day a truly blessed one. Serenity and peace of mind are also in store for you.

The busier you are, the more you need God’s help. Your prayer for the fulfillment of God’s good will make it a time when things go smoothly and harmoniously for you; and you can help make it such a time for others. Your faith will give you shelter and warmth, and how much you will thank God as you see all things working together for good.

Through God, you will find the right outworking of every problem, the right fulfillment for every need as you let God lead you to higher good. You can be glad, and praise God for God’s loving provision.

This will be a day filled with many activities that demand your attention and time. But it can be also a time of great inner peace, a time when you feel close to God, a time of faith and a time of prayer.

Tuesday Prayer and Meditation

“God abides in us, and God’s love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:12

Let us pray … in awareness and in realization that God’s love is with us now.

Who of us does not have times when he or she thinks they are not good enough to go to God for help? But God does not help us because God approves or disapproves of what we are doing. God helps us because God is God, because God is life, because God is love.

God does not help us because we are good. God helps us because God is good. God does not help us because we deserve help or love us because we deserve love. Do you love only those who have no flaws? And would you think that you can love where God cannot? Love sees things perfect in spite of flaws. We do not have to be perfect to lay hold of love’s perfection.

God does not answer our prayers to reward us because we have been good, or deny our prayers to punish us because we have been bad. God does not strike a bargain. God does not work for pay. God gives.

Accept the gift of God’s love in the silence of prayer …

Our God does not wait until we give ourselves to God to give the Divine to us. God seeks us even when we flee from God. And where can we flee from God – a God who is everywhere present and at hand?

God has us in the Divine heart, whether we have God in our hearts our not.

We do not have to be the most willing for God to choose us, or the most capable for God to use us.

It is not only good people that God has used to do God’s good. It is not only brave people that God has used to win God’s victory. It is not only righteous people that God has used to establish right.

So, today, in prayer, we hold out our hearts and we pray. God, whatever my heart may have felt, love through it. Divine love, manifest thyself through me.

In the silence of prayer and ask for God’s love to manifest through you.

We hold out our minds and we pray: God, whatever my mind may have thought, think through it. We hold out our hands and we pray: God, whatever my hands may have done, act through them.

We know that God does not give God-strength only to the strong, or God wisdom only to the wise, or God joy only to the joyful, or God blessing only to the blessed.

God does not help us because of what we are. God helps us because of what God is. God is love.

I decree through the power of Jesus Christ that you will have a renewal in many phases of your mind.

I decree that you will view yourself anew; you will start to see and recognize the God qualities that are in you, manifesting through you.

You will not deny these through false belief in inferiority. Rather you will carry the strength, the banner of God, high in the way you carry yourself and the way you act, speak, and think.

Thank You, dear, wonderful God of love
