Claim Your Good from God

“For God is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us.”
Ephesians 2:14

Have you ever felt like a person split in two with a partition, dividing your positive self, from your negative self?

You have a gold mine within you, more fabulous than the famous mines of King Solomon, or any of those that have been discovered in the Klondike, or California. Of course, this gold mine does not mean within the body. This gold mine is your direct connection spiritually with God your source – of all good in your life.

To operate this gold mine you need a contact with God. It will be of little avail to reach out for it without this special spiritual connection.

“Open Thou mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of God’s law.” Psalms 119:18

Allow me to share with you,

“The Shortest Book in the World.”

Chapter 1:

I walked down the path, not seeing a dog who bit me.

Chapter 2:

I walked down the path, pretending not to see a dog who bit me.

Chapter 3:

I walked down the path, saw a dog, but let him bite me out of habit.

Chapter 4:

I walked down the path, saw a dog coming toward me, and ran away from the dog.

Chapter 5:

I walked down a different path.

A happy ending! Isn’t that what we each want for our lives?

Do not be an expert in what you don’t want.

Become an expert in what you want. So often we walk down the path of what we do not want, just because we are used to it, and know the path.

Resignation to something bad happening is not following God’s will for your life. Settling for something that is less than your God-given potential is not either. If an old problem continues to persist – pray for inspiration, intelligence, and a whole new direction.

For example, if you are living in a shack, it is not any good pretending that it is a palace. That is only being “Pollyanna,” and it will get you nowhere in the end. Artificial optimism is not spiritual. Realize that you are living in a shack, but claim the presence of God, and that God will guide you to something better.

The spiritual way is to recognize the conditions surrounding you, but to know that they are only the present picture – that with God’s help you will reach your dreams.

Sit down quietly each day and think about God. Claim that God is with you and working in every circumstance in your life. Realize that God can and will change or circumstances. Daily spiritual meditations of this kind will sooner or later change your circumstances and bring them into harmony with the truth of God which means happiness, harmony, and abundance.

It does not matter what your present circumstances may be, the most important thing is to keep up your own interest, for God never loses interest in you and your life.

When your knees are knocking together, and you do not know which way to turn – think of God and God’s goodness.

When your coffers are empty, and prosperity seems out of the question – give thanks for God’s abundance.

When you want peace of mind – get away from things for a while, and dwell upon the presence of God instead.

When your health is under-par – speak that healing Word as Jesus did.

When you need inspiration – browse through the Bible.

When your faith is low – remember the words of Jesus, believe that you have received and you shall receive.

When the situation seems to need a miracle – remember that nothing is too difficult for God, and that God is performing miracles every day.

Always “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Go to God with praise and thanksgiving. If you can do that, this will become the most powerful prayer of all.

If everything seems to be sticking – stop struggling and thank God constantly for setting you free.

Sometimes the path that is not working for us is mental and emotional. If you feel depressed or discouraged – work to realize God’s life and joy, and give thanks for these things. If you are nervous or frightened, throw the responsibility on God, and tell God that you know you are safe in God’s arms.

If you want to make faster progress – claim understanding and spiritually affirm the Divine love is working through you continuously.

God intended you to have dominion over your life, to be the captain of your soul. You should be active in that kind of activity that will cause you to reach the port of your intended dreams.

You are the captain of your soul and proceeding with all sails set, and when you have put your life on a spiritual basis, you can say with Jesus, “I and the Father are one. It is not I that doeth the works but the Father in me.”

You cannot expect to reach port if you constantly making excuses for yourself or your path, or you leave dark corners in your life.

Do not try to straddle the fence. If you wish to accomplish anything, you must be single-minded. It will be going the long way around if you first turn left, and then turn right when you really want to go straight ahead. Let nothing turn you from the spiritually inspired path.

Don’t freeze on your way; don’t let change fill you with fear. Fill up instead with a complete spiritual consciousness of God’s presence, power, and active help in your life.

PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE

Dear God, Whenever I have questions or concerns, I immerse myself in an awareness of You, the powerful Spirit who watches over me and those I care about. I turn away from human reasoning, longing, and fears and ask You to show me the way and lead me to the fullness of Your good.

Dear God, I ask for Your help today. I believe that You will help me. I pray to be guided and directed by You and to know exactly what to do. In this moment in time, in prayer, I ask for Your direction.

When You speak to me, I listen to the still small voice and experience an inner knowing of what I am to do. With every fiber of my being, I am open and attentive to the wisdom of the one true source of good. I actively listen for Your guidance and agree to follow where You direct.

I have faith that answers are being revealed. I place my trust in You and feel the security of being Divinely guided.

Thank You, God, for going before me and showing me the way to make the crooked places straight and orderly.

“Pray constantly … Hold fast what is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17-21

Holding fast to God is the antidote to fear.

If someone close to you is facing difficult challenges, it may not be easy for you to hold fast to God. Concern for loved ones or our friends may prompt fear rather than faith.

Concern for those you care about requires prayer to enable you to hold fast to God. You affirm, and reaffirm your faith in God’s all-encompassing life and in God’s ever-present goodness. You believe in God’s ultimate greatness, and in God’s almighty power to triumph over every difficulty. Regardless of the seeming severity, you place your faith in God and know that with God all things are possible. You hold fast to this realization with all your faith and with your entire being.

As you hold fast to God, your prayers are a great help in blessing to others and to yourself. You make progress in your spiritual growth, and God accomplishes a good work through the clear, open, and faith-filled channel of your mind and heart.

You make it a habit to observe regular daily prayer times, followed by a time of relaxed and receptive listening. Through the activity of daily prayer, you become aware of the Spirit of God active in the midst of you. You attune yourself to this Divine presence and power and It attends to you.

The Spirit of God that created you in the beginning is within you now; it never grows old or weary, knows no pain, and never experiences lack of any good thing. The Spirit of God is forever new, and yet never changes. The Spirit of God working within you eternally bubbles with joy, radiating pure love to all. At the same time, it continually expresses the peace that passes all understanding.

In Galatians 5:22, our Bible states, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”

Through prayer you attune yourself to the Spirit of God. Through prayer you enjoy rich benefits in your daily living. There is an effervescent quality added to your life, and you sparkle with happiness, glow with good health, and prosper in all your ways.

When you hold fast to God the fruit of the Spirit will provide increased love in your life for yourself, and for others.

When you hold fast to God, you will have that effervescent joy.

When you hold fast to God, you will have peace that passes all understanding.

When you hold fast to God, you will have patience because you know that good outcomes are coming.

When you hold fast to God, you will always be kind, because God is kind.

When you hold fast to God, you have natural goodness in you and attracted to you.

When you hold fast to God, you walk in faithfulness.

Dear God, I realize You love me with the love that transcends any other love I have ever experienced or ever dreamed I could experience.

“The beloved of the Lord, they dwell in safety by God.”
Deuteronomy 33:12

Some persons feel weighted down with care and worry. It is good to accept responsibility, but it is NOT good to feel that everything is up to us alone.

We often feel that we alone must make every decision, and handle every disturbing situation. We often feel that all the work that must be done has to be done by us. It is impossible for one person to do this, but some persons act as if this is what they must do.

Freedom from worry and care and a heavy sense of responsibility comes as we place all that concerns us – our lives, our affairs, our dear ones – lovingly in God’s care.

Weights are lifted from our shoulders; we feel a sense of lightness and freedom as we give over our worried thoughts to God, as we trust in God’s love to be with us to strengthen and help us, and to be with our dear ones in all their ways.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, 30 “come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest … For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

We live more in our minds than we do in our environment. Even if we change our environment we take ourselves with us everywhere we go. To dwell in safety is to know that we dwell in God. Dwelling in God is the safest place there is.

We know that with God’s help – our way will be made easy.

Dear God, in each moment of this day, I know that You are with me.
Your love enfolds me;
Your light guides me.
Wherever I go, whatever I do, You are with me.
Dear God, Your wisdom guides and directs me and each person whom I encounter.

God, Your sweet peace, Your complete infilling peace fills my mind and my heart. A sense of well-being grows within me as I become more aware of Your presence in every aspect of my life. I am safe in You, dear God. I totally give myself over to Your loving presence, now, as I rest gently; as I rest calmly in Your presence.

In the silence of prayer, I am wholly at peace …

Thank You, God, for the light of wisdom. Every moment of every day, I am guided by Your gentle loving presence into new levels of understanding, new dimensions of insight and compassion, new ways of being. Each new awareness and each new insight seem like a new awakening in me.

Through Your presence with me now, I feel the warm glow of spiritual light.

Rest in the silence of prayer …

Thank You, God, for Your renewing life in the midst of the activities of my day; I am strengthened by Your presence. I live and move in the presence of Your life. Here in Your presence, I find true health – health of the Spirit.

I breathe deeply and I feel Your presence as life. My spirit, my mind, and my body are healed through Your living presence within me. I entrust those I care about to Your sacred presence within them. I see them as strong and vitally healthy; as one with Your living presence.

Isaiah 26:4

When you are concerned about a friend or a family member, you know, of course, that just worrying about them will not help them, or you.

The fact that you are concerned and long to see them blest makes you an important part of their answered prayer. We help one another as we serve as channels through which God’s power flows. You are a needed and important channel through which your dear one can be truly blessed, in God’s own perfect and wondrous way.

Instead of worrying, say in prayer: “I place you in God’s keeping. I trust God to bless you in perfect ways.”

A channel does not do the acting, but is a conduit. God acts.

You, through your prayers, are a conduit of prayer power, and the one for whom you pray is the receiver.

The greatest prayer you can make for another person is to place them in God’s care and keeping. You know as you do this that God’s perfect work is being done. This sets you free from anxiety and undue responsibility. It reminds you of the truth that God is in the midst of the one for whom you are praying, and that God’s power never fails.

Allow me to paraphrase Isaiah 41:10:

“Fear not, for I am with (them) …
I will strengthen (them); I will help (them,)
I will uphold (them) with My victorious right hand.”

From deep within your being comes the glorious reassurance that God is with them. What joy this realization brings! Even now, in stillness, there comes God’s promise, beamed to you and to them through God’s love:

“My child, I am right here with you. Never would I leave you to face any circumstance alone.

I will remain right here with you, always.
My peace and power are yours, always.

“Be still, and you will feel My comforting presence with you.

“Listen, and you will hear My voice assuring you of untold blessings.

“Look, and you will see the evidence of My loving provision everywhere about you.

“My child, lift up your head, lift up your heart. I am right here with you!”

POSITIVE DAILY PRAYER:

My journey follows God.
God’s hand is at the wheel.
God’s wisdom chooses the way.
God’s law of order and right adjustment is manifest in every activity.
No fear alarms me, for God’s presence blesses me with the spirit of peace.
As I travel this path, I am an emissary of Spirit.
God’s wisdom inspires in me alertness, good judgment, and quick decision.
God’s patience gives me temperance and courtesy.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and directs me in all my ways.

Timmy was a little five-year-old boy who his Mom loved very much and, being a worrier, she was concerned about him walking to school when he started Kindergarten. She walked him to school the first couple of days, but then he came home one day, and he told his mother that he did not want her walking him to school everyday. He wanted to be like the “big boys.”

He protested loudly, so she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor, Mrs. Goodnest, if she would secretly follow her son to school, at a distance behind him that he would not likely notice, but close enough to keep a watch on him.

Mrs. Goodnest said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, Mrs. Goodnest and her little girl, Marcy, set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor boy he knew. She did this for the whole week.

As the boys walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, the little friend of Timmy noticed that this same lady was following them, as she seemed to do every day, all week. Finally, he said to Timmy, “Have you noticed that lady following us all week? Do you know her?”

Timmy nonchalantly replied, “Yea, I know who she is.”

The little friend said, “Well who is she?”

“That’s just Shirley Goodnest,” Timmy said.

“Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is she following us?”

“Well,” Timmy explained, “every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers cuz she worries about me so much. And in it, the prayer psalm says, “Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life, so I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.”

Super Granny Defender of Justice (True Story)

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at them at the top of her voice, “I have a gun and I know how to use it! Get out of the car, you scum bags!”

The four men didn’t wait for a second invitation, but got out and ran like mad, where upon the lady, somewhat shaken, proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and get into the driver’s seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried and then it dawned on her why.

A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into her car and drove to the police station. The sergeant to whom she told the story nearly tore himself in two with laughter and pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale white males were reporting a car jacking by a mad elderly woman described as white, less than 5′ tall, glasses, and curly white hair carrying a large handgun.

No charges were filed. Ah, senior moments!

Jasmine

Police in Warwickshire, England, opened a garden shed and found a whimpering, cowering dog. It had been locked in the shed and abandoned. It was dirty and malnourished, and had clearly been abused.

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need.

Geoff and the other sanctuary staff went to work with two aims: to restore the dog to full health, and to win her trust. It took several weeks, but eventually both goals were achieved.

They named her Jasmine, and they started to think about finding her an adoptive home.

But Jasmine had other ideas. No-one remembers now how it began, but she started welcoming all animal arrivals at the sanctuary. It wouldn’t matter if it was a puppy, a fox cub, a rabbit or, any other lost or hurting animal, Jasmine would peer into the box or cage and, where possible, deliver a welcoming lick.

Geoff relates one of the early incidents. “We had two puppies that had been abandoned by a nearby railway line. One was a Lakeland Terrier cross and another was a Jack Russell Doberman cross. They were tiny when they arrived at the centre and Jasmine approached them and grabbed one by the scruff of the neck in her mouth and put him on the settee. Then she fetched the other one and sat down with them, cuddling them.

“But she is like that with all of our animals, even the rabbits. She takes all the stress out of them and it helps them to not only feel close to her but to settle into their new surroundings.

“She has done the same with the fox and badger cubs; she licks the rabbits and guinea pigs and even lets the birds perch on the bridge of her nose.”

Jasmine, the timid, abused, deserted waif, became the animal sanctuary’s resident surrogate mother, a role for which she might have been born. The list of orphaned and abandoned youngsters she has cared for comprises five fox cubs, four badger cubs, 15 chicks, eight guinea pigs, two stray puppies and 15 rabbits.

And one roe deer fawn. Tiny Bramble, 11 weeks old, was found semi-conscious in a field. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, Jasmine cuddled up to her to keep her warm, and then went into the full foster mum role. Jasmine the greyhound showers Bramble the Roe deer with affection and makes sure nothing is matted.

“They are inseparable,” says Geoff. “Bramble walks between her legs and they keep kissing each other. They walk together round the sanctuary. It’s a real treat to see them.”

Jasmine will continue to care for Bramble until she is old enough to be returned to woodland life. When that happens, Jasmine will not be lonely. She will be too busy showering love and affection on the next orphan or victim of abuse.

Jasmine with a Mother’s heart doing best what a caring Mother would do … Such is the order of God’s Creation.

This is what we should all do to those around us, especially those that are hurting.

“They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither.”
Psalms 1:3

This message is created in the hopes of lifting our vision to the full spectrum of color and depth offered to us on a daily basis from God. There is always much more than the human eye can comprehend in the beginning. There is greater beauty to be found in daily life.

In many parts of the country there are children going back-to-school. Another fabulous Summer Has come to an end, preparing the way for a fabulous fall.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. In Texas, the heat wave of July and August give way to cooler temperatures.

Just as there are different seasons of the year, there are also different seasons of your life.

Occasionally a season may be one of growth in which you have a spurt of energy and creativity and accomplish much in your life. Another season can be a time of rest and dormancy in which you are quiet and contemplative and nothing appears to be happening with you or through you.

What you realize from the changes in you is that a time of rest is just as important as a time of activity. Cycles are very important in life. In a time of quiet, you are preparing to do more and be more. Just like the body needs sleep at night, the soul also needs time to renew and refresh.

Out of seasons of spiritual awareness, a new you emerges. The human ears and eyes are intricately fashioned receptors of an untold number of sights and sounds. When we take a moment to stop what we are doing and then look and listen to what God has to show us, our life can be truly blessed. During seasons in our life of major change, we are afforded the opportunity of longer periods of time in communion with God.

We look at the sights of God, we take time daily to stop, look, and listen to the sights and sounds of God’s presence.

In Psalms 63:5, our Bible states, “My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast.”

The enrichment of your life begins with you. As you recognize and release an inner God-given gift, what I like to call “the spark of Spirit,” you are enthused again about being totally alive in Spirit, mind, and body.

Through a spiritual season of preparation, you now realize that the yearning you might not have recognized before is for the unconditional love of God, the infallible wisdom of God, and the all-pervading presence of God.

You know that nothing could bless you more than knowing God, knowing that the Spirit of God lives with you, moves through you as energy and assurance, and out from you as love and wisdom.

You will know in all the seasons of your life – the truth of Psalms 67:6, “God, our God, has blessed us.” You will say with all certainty, every day, of every season, “God, thank You for continually blessing me.”

In the early 1950s Mahalia Jackson found herself before a sellout crowd in New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall. “I stood there,” she later recalled, “gazing out at thousands of men and women who had come to hear me – a baby nurse and a washerwoman – on the stage where great artists like Caruso and Lily Pons and Marian Anderson had sung, and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to make a sound.” But sing she did, and “The more I sang the more people in the audience cried out for joy. As the beat picked up, hands started flying and feet started tapping and folks began to shout all over the great Hall.”

Jackson had risen from humble beginnings in New Orleans to become hailed as the world’s greatest gospel singer – the “Queen of gospel music.”

Mahalia’s formal education ended abruptly with the eighth grade, when she took a job as a laundress. In 1928, although only 16, Mahalia moved to Chicago, where she lived with two of her aunts. Her plans to study nursing were dashed when one of her aunts became ill, making it necessary for Mahalia to work to help make ends meet.

In 1932 the untrained Mahalia paid a hard-earned 4 dollars to her professor on Chicago’s South side – for what turned out to be her one and only singing lesson. The professor berated his would be pupil, telling her to “stop hollering” and sing her songs “so that white people can understand them.”

Mahalia never went back for another lesson.

Gradually, Mahalia’s musical talent was noticed outside religious circles. Jazz promoters invited her to sing in nightclubs, with one promising her as much as $25,000 per night to perform in Las Vegas. Consistently, she turned down all such engagements, insisting that she was first and foremost a gospel singer. “When you sing gospel songs, you have a feeling that there is a cure for what is wrong,” she said. But “when you get through with the blues, you’ve got nothing to rest on.”

In 1972 Mahalia died in Evergreen Park, Illinois. At the Greater Salem Baptist Church, more than 40,000 people filed past her coffin to pay their final respects. Because such a large crowd was expected, her funeral service was held at at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center.

Although Mahalia received accolades from around the world, she always maintained a deep sense of humility about herself and her gifts saying, “My success is the work of the Lord.”

Apart from Christ there is no explanation for such a life.

How do you in your life rise above conditions, lack, limitation and worry? You do it by going consistently to God and allowing God to consistently work in and through your life.

Are we professionals or amateurs in life? The professional goes to God for help continuously. The successful professional realizes it is not her or him but God that produces the success.

When he sees a log jam, the professional logger climbs a tall tree and locates a key log, and has that log blown up and lets the stream do the rest. An amateur would start at the edge of the jam and move all the logs, eventually moving the key log. Obviously, both methods will get the logs moving, but the professional does his work more quickly and effectively.

In Proverbs 3:25,26 it states, “Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or the storm or the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”

“This one thing I do,” said Paul. Most people would have to alter that and confess, “these fifty things I dabble in.”

There are many detours in life, but we can choose the direct route. The direct route to success is continuous connection to God.

Do you know that you’re capable of great things? Young people believe this easily but let’s be honest as we get older our dreams can fade or diminish. We often get blindsided by so-called reality. This is one of the meanings of Jesus telling you to become like a little child again. God is a big thinker about your future, but you must consent in your free-will.

This year let’s dare to dream.

“How you see the world first determines your attitude, and then your attitude determines how the world sees you.” Mark Amend

We are all capable, for within each of us is a God-given gift often unopened or fully realized. God fills us with drive and encouragement needed to reach our goals. But what if our dreams seem unattainable? Anything and everything IS possible with God.

What if the great explorers had doubted themselves and decided to stay home rather than to explore? Some might believe that such a trip IS STILL impossible. What if the inventors of the light bulb and the automobile hadn’t taken chances and explored the unknown possibilities? We would be in the dark and still on horseback.

Today, let’s set our goals, AND RELY ON GOD. Let’s prepare ourselves for delightful serendipity of positive surprise as God’s help comes through again, and again. Today we choose to dare to dream – again.

So many people think or talk about doing something, BUT they never have the time to follow through. Well, why not make today the time to begin to do it? With God, you can!

Have you been wanting to meet new people? Well, today is your day – do it!

The only thing stopping you is yourself. Your faith in God will be your courage, protection, and your guide.

Have you been wanting to get in better physical shape? Today is your day – do it!

Have you been wanting to start a new hobby? There is no better time than the present moment, so why not find a hobby or sport to add to your creativity.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, “There is … a time for every matter.”

Rather than just thinking and talking of trying something new, you dare to dream and you put feet on your dreams by becoming a go getter and doing it beginning right now.
